Could not agree more. I first remember hearing this in a Jamey Aebersold workshop and it has been the best. I’ve had some friends mock me when practicing, but they don’t mock the results.

Good tip. As an old comeback player, I absolutely have to slow down when learning new pieces of music. Not just for the playing aspect, but also for the "reading music" aspect. My progress is much better when I take the time to get it right, first, and increase the tempo later.

Thanks for this excellent tutorial. I find that in tricky passages it often comes down to the transition between two notes that can trip you up. Getting your brain and body to agree on how to get through an awkward transition takes time and repetition. The markings on my metronome between 40 and 60 BPM are worn thin. I work towards the target tempo in small increments, and often back off a little and work up to it again. (And again…) Thanks… again!

Caught me red-handed bobby! I always just practiced at the pace I thought it should be performed, and stopped and restarted when I messed it up. Definitely time to slow it down with a metronome.... thanks again!
