Some people probably already told you but Multiverse means changing the past creates a new timeline, but the timeline Trunks comes from won't change 😅 In any case I hope you liked it! This series is one hell of a trip.

That was Trunks original plan: to go back in time in order to change his present, but when he went back to his present the first time he discovered that going back in time only creates a new timeline thus leaving his timeline unchanged.

Gohan explained this already, you can't change Trunks future, you just create a new timeline. Future Bulma also explained this right before Trunks traveled back in time in the Trunks movie. Also Perfect Cell explained this to Trunks before the Cell tournament. xD

In the original anime, Vegeta and Trunks gave each other the peace/victory sign during that goodbye scene. And as for any sort of cliffhanger leading into the Buu Saga. I believe when either this, or episode 60 (forget which one) aired, it ended with a typical "see you in season 4" end card, but it was removed after they announced they wouldn't be continuing. But I could be mistaken.

They explained it aldready the scene where Gohan explained about that time travel works as in multiverse theory. Let me give u a example: If suppose u going for a interview u get missed the interview due to a accident and therefore the job ur life is ruined. Even if u decide to travel back in time u should be in that past version body to change the future. Since there are two versions of urself existing in two separate body u can save your past self from getting into that accident it won't change your future timeline. It will remain the same since u change only in one timeline. Both lines will exist regardless what changes u make to ur past self. That's why there are versions of trunks existing at the same timeline .

To answer you constantly looking for things to have changed, you apparently didn't pay attention to what Trunks said when he traveled back in time the second time where he explained that he's creating an alternate timeline when he changes the past. Gohan even explained how it worked to him and they already asked why he'd go back in time if it didn't change his time, and he told them essentially that he didn't know it worked like that when he first went back to the past.

I remember from the commentaries that when the entire aspect of time travel was introduced to the story, the TFS guys had to have a serious discussion about how time travel would work in the Abridged series. Basically, Trunks can't change his current situation by going into the past, it can only be changed in his relative present. Any changes he makes to the past essentially creates a new timeline that he is a part of until he uses the time machine to return to his original timeline. Also, you'll notice that there is never any sign of Android 16 in Trunks' time, which the writers think is part of why the Androids the got absorbed by Cell were so much more human than the Future ones.

To answer why the cyborgs where not dead yet. “Multiverse theory is a B___h.”

So they actually explained it in the trunks movie, that they weren't aware about the multiverse theory whereby the timeline he went back to was a different one and wouldn't affect his future in any way, and i believe in episodes leading up to cells semi perfect form they actually bring it up during a conversation between gohan and trunks where trunks implies that even if it doesn't fix his timeline, he would like to atleast save this one. That's the whole reason he came back 3 years after warning the gang about the androids.

Multiverse theory says that when he traveled back in time, Trunks created a different timeline. They explained this back in an episode and Gohan spoke of it because Trunks already went back to his timeline according to him and in his words "Turns out thats not how time travel works." and then Gohan interrupted with "Oh, you mean multiverse theory?" and yeah.

Nothing had changed because of Multiverse theory, they talk about it earlier in the series but basically just because the present timeline was changed it's not gonna affect Trunks' timeline because its a different timeline and future

Future Trunks' story is by far my favorite part of DragonBall. I remember being super excited they put this out at the time.

I think she took a lot of the stuff the characters said literally. Like when Cell said "Behold the power of two hands" she thought cell was only using one hand until he said that as opposed to him showing Gohan that two hands are better than one, and some other stuff that flew by. I have a buddy who also takes a lot of stuff at face value. We as people process stuff differently.

The Buu Bits isn't the complete end, but it _is_ the end of the DBZ-originated content so far - aside from the odd movie and the Kai episodes. Other than that, Team Four Star has done some original videos using the same characters, post Cell Games. One mini-series addresses some of the big events, such as Goten's birth and Krillin and 18's first date, then second series, Home for Infinite Losers is still ongoing. It follows Cell after he's sent to hell, where he's made to live in a "rehabilitation camp" with Frieza, Raditz, Guru, and the Ginyus. There's also The Cell Games, where various characters from other shows fought or interacted with Cell after he first made the announcement of his tournament. If you watch those, there are two different Pokemon Cell Games episodes, one done by Team Four Star, and one done in collaboration with 1KidsEntertainment, who was doing Pokemon Abridged at the time, using the Abridged characterizations of the cast from Pokemon. I only mention it by name because most people who watch the Cell Games series end up missing the 1KidsEntertainment collaboration, because it's on their channel, not on Team Four Star's channel.

There’s multiple timelines Future Trunks still has his memories it’s not like he forgets growing up with the androids. He created a NEW timeline with their own Trunk’s that’s a baby. Adult trunks was raised in his timeline without his father he can’t undo that and when he went back in time n he went to the past to get Goku because they knew he would find a way to win.

After trunks realised that his time didnt change his goal changed it was to make sure a timeline existed where the world didn't end up like his appocalyptic one. He also got to fight along side with the people he had only heard stories of and grow himself so he himself could instead of changing his past eliminate the androids and brighten his own future.

Only Kai (Gods) can time travel within the same timeline. Mortals using science are only capable of quantum travel, i.e. "time traveling" creates an alternate universe for the "time traveler" to go to, but nothing done in the alternate universe affects the original because they're not the same universe at different points in time, but two separate, parallel universes. So the only thing from Trunks' future that changed as a result of "time travel" was Trunks himself.

they didn't know it worked on multiverse theory instead of one timeline when trunks went back.

7:35 It was already explained that timetravel doesn't change the future when you change the past, It just creates a new timeline of events seperately from the original place you time travelled from. Trunks lamented to Yamcha and Gohan that he didn't know thats how it worked until he had already time travelled once. The reason he kept time travelling was to "Save one timeline from being ruined by the androids" NOT necessarily his own. It's called "Multiverse theory" Thats why everyone in the future is still dead because nothing actually changed aside from Trunks getting WAAAAY stronger.

You mentioned that you were going to start watching Super but that deals with knowing the real series Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. They are very different from TFS. Their abridged series was a love letter to those who already seen the actual series. I suggest on your free time to actually catch up with the real series before getting into Super. -Sage

Everyone is still dead because it's multiverse theory. They constantly made reference to it. Even though trunks helped save the original timeline his timeline doesn't get effected

Trunks did intend to go to the past to save the future, but time isn’t closed-loop in Dragon Ball. In the official series, when someone time travels, it’s splits time in two. They touch slightly more on this in Super. Trunks saved the new timeline but returned to his destroyed timeline and at least destroyed the cyborgs with his new strength. This is also how Cell was able to kill Trunks to go back in time and yet we still have trunks. In Abridged they just went full multiverse with it because it’s easier for most to understand- time doubles with every decision made so there are infinite universes in a temporal sense.

DBZ time travel operates on the multiverse theory, where going back to change something creates a branch in the timeline, leading to a new parallel universe. If it was all one and the same timeline, you'd run into the time traveller's paradox: The only reason Trunks went back was to fix things, but if changing the past *actually* fixed things, then he'd have no reason to go back... but then the past wouldn't change, his future would still suck, and we'd end up back where we started. Alternatively, fixing the past could wipe his future from existence entirely, meaning he *can't* come back to fix it, which would cause things to happen as they originally would and inevitably lead to the same result. Basically, Future Trunks' timeline is fated to always suck. Which is why in ep 42 he said his reason for going back to the past even if it didn't help his future was to create at least one timeline where the world isn't destroyed. (Of course, we as the audience know that his time travel shennanigans have also resulted in one, possibly two, timelines with even worse results, where Earth is left with no one able to fight off Babidi and Dabura, effectively dooming the entire universe.)

Travelling with a time machine create another timeline which are not connected with each other

it has been explained a number of times, but some details are pretty easy to forget in the hype of the episodes. trunks' original plan was to change the past to change his future, but that's not how time-travel in dbz works. instead the time-line branches whenever changes are made (multi-verse theory), guaranteeing that trunks' time-line remains permanently scarred and bleak.

It's basically Avengers: Endgame rules... changing your past doesn't change your future. Trunks created a new timeline with his trip, but his timeline is unaffected and everyone is dead. And if you're looking for unabridged series to run through, I'd suggest Goblin Slayer Abridged and Sword Art Online Abridged (which is way better than the *actual* series).

One of the things I've noticed is you tend to talk over scenes which they explain things. They went over how Trunks going to the past didn't change his own time. So for the Buu Bits, all you really need to know is that Buu was a creative of pure evil. He was able to turn people into food. He's also able to absorb people. There are different forms of Buu.. Fat, Super, and Kid. He's also made of magic or something and pretty much indestructable with regeneration abilities that are better than Cell's. Mr. Satan and his daughter are more prevalent as well. That's honestly about it. You should be able to pick up on context from there. Oh! Near the end of the Buu Bits, they do a lot of referencing to Dragonball Super, which I think is supposed to take place after the Buu Saga, but before the ending of Z. Also, check out their Dragonball Shortz videos as well as HFIL!

Trunks went back in time to either bring Goku back with him or find some sort of weakness in the Androids design. He knew he wouldnt change anything because thats not how time travel works in dragon ball. If you go back in time, you just make a divergent timeline. You cant change the main one. There is a timeline where everyone dies, there is a timeline where Cell kills trunks, there is a timeline where Everyone lives and Trunks comes back, stronger than before and finished the job. Its not confirmed, but its my humble opinion that the timeline where Cell killed Trunks is the main one, which means the androids are gone through some manner unknown to us, but now everyone we know is dead, except for Bulma.

I know you've probably gotten the multiverse comment a million times by now, but they still can save Trunks's timeline, and I think they do. Trunks can still go to Namek and wish everyone back with Porunga. Well, everyone except for Goku actually since Goku died of natural causes in his timeline, and when you die of natural causes, the Dragons can't bring you back.

Things don't change because of multiverse theory. Jiren is a Dragon Ball Super reference in the Tournament of Power. I highly recommend watching the actual Buu Saga because it is just bits and pieces and you will not have any context.

Trunks' future doesn't change. Trunks went to the present day to make sure Goku and others don't meet the same fate. When Trunks goes back in time, he goes into another timeline.

Nothing has changed, that's the point, they told us like 15 or 20 episodes ago that Trunks coming back to the past wouldn't change the future, it would just create a new reality. So technically the main story of Dragon Ball takes place in an alternate reality and Trunks future is the original one (or maybe Cell's the original one, I'd need to think on that).

So sinds trunks joined the series they have been talking about multiverse theory that means when they go back in time it makes an other universe so they can't change anything rlly 😅
