Be sure you use the oil. I do leave duller blades in for several more seconds but never 10 minutes. Do you have a nick in your blade? If that's the case the machine cannot take that kind of burr out. It will sharpen dull blades but not damaged ones. We use ours in our sewing shop and are very pleased with the results.
