How unbelievably blessed am I that God is a god of grace who allows me to doubt, question, and wrestle with him.

In times of stress , I really find solace and peace in pastor Keller's teaching. Dear Jesus, I pray that you heal your servant of all his affliction. By your stripes, heal him of pancreatic cancer. Renew his youth like an eagle! In Jesus name I pray.

I pray that Dr. Keller will use this format to teach thru the scriptures book by book. Churches all over the world are starving for sound teaching. Perhaps the Lord has determined to use this format for a time such as this? Blessings!

Tim Keller makes things easy to grasp. He makes the Bible come alive. There are others I would recommend along the same reformed vein. Alistair Begg with the Truth for Life app. Also RC Sproul, with the Ligonier app.

A point on why God want us to question HIM: God give us sound mind and He want us to "Know" Him cognitiveily, which brings closeness, strength and faith with Him, through Him and in Him. Amen. Grace, indeed.

We are not to promote disrespectful stances toward God. When a prophet or any faithful person wrestles with God, it is a powerful moment to fearfully reflect upon. It is not a model to open a new expected behavior in order to be "genuine".

Pastor Tim Keller always has a way of exegeting the Scriptures with faithfulness and precision, without compromising on the context. This message hits home, too. Trusting God with utmost faith is a must in our global ordeal today. I thank God for the lives of the Kellers for their ministry. May Godʼs grace overflow all the more as they continue to be conduits of His faithfulness. God bless everyone who will be hearing this message also. Soli Deo gloria!

It’s all because of gods grace. It’s the single most important attribute god gives us in order to survive down on earth. It’s so heartwarming. When you have been saved and then get caught up in old patterns. You beat yourself up thinking god will never love you and that you lost being saved. But this is false. Because gods grace is always there once saved. Gods always there on the earth journey until you get back home. Gods grace is the key. It’s the truth and Habakkuk story is the answer god gives to the question of loosing faith and being saved. Thank god for gods grace. He always answers me

John 3:16-17 KJV For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the World to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.

Why do you cherry-pick the "good" verses while ignoring the hundreds of backwards ones like: Ephesians 6:5 “Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ.” Leviticus 25: 44-46 “You may purchase male and female slaves from among the nations around you […] You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance.” Exodus 21:20 “If a man beats his male or female slave with a club and the slave dies as a result, the owner must be punished. If, however, he survives a day or two, no vengeance shall be taken for he (the slave) is his property” Exodus 21:2 “If you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve for six years, but on the seventh shall go out as a free man without payment” Exodus 21:7 “When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are” 1 Peter 2:18 “Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the cruel.” Psalm 137:9 “Happy/Blessed is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.” 1 Timothy 2:12 “I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent” Deut. 25:11-12 “If two Israelite men get into a fight and the wife of one tries to rescue her husband by grabbing the testicles of the other man, you must cut off her hand. Show her no pity.” Deut. 22:28-29 “If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her. 1 Cor 14:35 “It is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church. Lev 21:9 “If a priest’s daughter defiles herself by becoming a prostitute, she also defiles her father’s holiness, and she must be burned to death.” Deut 21:10-11 “When you go to war against your enemies and the Lord your God delivers them into your hands and you take captives, if you notice among the captives a beautiful woman you may take her as your wife.” Numbers 31:17-18 “So kill all the boys and all the women who have had intercourse with a man. Only the young girls who are virgins may live; you may keep them for yourselves.”

With the incomprehensible inscrutability of what is going on, Dr. Keller provides the most sapient and reasonable explanations. While I have never found Habakkuk to satisfy my desire to understand the rationale behind pain and suffering, at least he (Dr. K.) provides additional perspectives to meditate on. Something I (we) need desperately as the world we thought we knew slips away. Thank you and God bless you all at Gospel in Life.

Thank you two for sharing your contemplation! Kathy, what passages are you referring to, when saying that there are many places in the biblr when people are encourage to wrestle and even doubt God? I am aware of the passages where this is narrated, but not of any passage where God explicitly encourages it. Hence so far my understanding is, that those passage reflect the human (in parts sinful, selfish) heart, narrating honestly how we humans tick. But I am not aware how God encourages that. Thank you for taking time to answer!

Can someone help me out? The scripture in my NIV doesn't read this way: I have "How long, Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, “Violence!” but you do not save? Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrongdoing? Destruction and violence are before me, there is strife, and conflict abounds." my NKJV reads similarly, with nothing about "my holy one you will never die"

I want to learn the Bible in English, in which interpretation do you suggest me to learn it? I read in Wikipedia that there are more than 10 variants of Bible in English Language. What kind of Bible do you use in your sermons?

For an English learner, The New Living Translation (NLT) would be the easiest English. But I read the New International Version (NIV). You can check out different versions on biblegateway.com
@silvertassel9383

Your NIV version shown doesn't match the ESV text he's explaining. Verse 12 in ESV says (like Tim Keller explains) that *we* will not die. The NIV version shown says ' *you* will not die'. Please correct.

My NIV says, "...we will not die." (v.12 b)
@francischooeyco
@francischooeyco 3 года назад
As I watch the video again, the written text says NIV, "...you..." but Pastor read it as "...we..." So I check the Hebrew text and it says "we..." It's actually a verb in 1st person, plural... You can verify this in your Hebrew Interlinear Bible apps.
