Welcome back to Hourless Life. Join us, Eric and Brittany, along with our fearless little explorer, Caspian, as we traverse the globe in our beloved Jeep Gladiator. Today, we're conquering the breathtaking Andes Mountains as we cross the border from Santiago, Chile, to Mendoza, Argentina. The crossing is perched at over 10,000 feet above sea level!
In this episode, we're diving deep into the heart of international overlanding. From navigating the twists and turns of Argentina's "blue dollar" to the beautiful chaos of immersing ourselves in new cultures, we're sharing the highs and the hurdles of life on the road. In this unique and heartfelt video, we open up about the realities of living in a Jeep full-time and the logistical dance of international travel.

🌎 Who we are and what we’re doing:
We’re Eric + Brittany + Caspian Highland, and we’re driving around the world! We have been traveling full-time by vehicle for the past decade. In October 2021, we permanently left the United States with our Jeep Gladiator home on wheels. We intend to slow travel across all six habitable continents.

Excellent video, guys. Thank you for sharing the logistical and not-so-epic sides of full-time overland life. I always tell people, it's not a vacation, it's a lifestyle choice. We miss you! Hugs from the Tokarskys.

This one seemed like a whirlwind...but it was worth getting to know all of the nitty gritty of when and how to travel for the best results and reasons; i.e. back to Santiago before heading to the US to avoid travel through the Andes during their winter. Mendoza sounds like a great place to visit. I hope it did not get too hot. Funny - Eric - learning about the "rhino" at the museum. The food looks fantastic.

Thanks Haila! So glad you enjoyed the video! It really is a pretty neat place to visit. We may end up spending quite a bit more time in Mendoza when we fly back in July to continue the journey. ~ Eric

It has been quite a journey so far. We've been taking our time in the countries to really get to know the people, their culture, and their history. We took 2.5 years just to get to Mendoza, Argentina from the USA. Thanks for following along. On the off chance you are going to Overland Expo West this year, we'll be there presenting and parked in the Content Creator area near the Storyteller Pavilion. Would love to meet you. ~ Eric

Unfortunately I wont be there. I'm in Virginia, so that's a bit of a haul for me (although not as big of a haul as for you guys!). I'd definitely love to cross paths at some point though!

@@DefiantOffroad completely understand. We hope to be back in the States the next time in Octoberish of 2025 if all works out the way we hope. But you never know.. ~ Eric

Love these "Behind the scenes" videos, Eric and Brittany! Chock full of the really practical considerations we need to be aware of. Things we didn't even know we had to be aware of! I noticed your Red Oxx bags... I remember when you reviewed them at the start of your trip -- They look like they're holding up amazingly well!! In this video, they look practically brand new, but I can only imagine the day-to-day rigor they've endured. Looks like a buy once / cry once item that's worth the cost. I gotta check out Eric's burger joint when we get there!

Hey Brian! Can't wait to hear about your journey and happy to be a continuing resource as well. Don't ever hesitate to reach out. Will you be at Overland Expo West this year? If so, hunt us down. Happy to hang out. As far as Red Oxx, in full transparency, they are one of our 28 gear sponsors. Having said that, I do swear by these bags. It is a Made in the USA, Veteran Owned company based out of Billings Montana. Get this, the bags are like new still. And the bags are guaranteed for the life of the BAG. Not your life, the life of the bag. So it truly is a buy once cry once item that you'll never regret purchasing because your great grandkids will be using them on their travels. Anyhow, stay in touch, and like I said, always feel free to reach out! ~ Eric

Hey I recognize that Claro store! That was the first one coming south that understood what a 'tourist esim" was.

Wine must not be trivialized! Why else go to Argentina? I'd probably throw out tools, the spare tire and food to get more wine in the rig. ha ha Good to see you guys. Safe travels. That boy is looking good. He's a strong team member.

Haha John. We have 4 or 5 bottles left corked in DAUNTLESS for when we get back. Brittany would agree that wine must not be trivialized although if she throws out my tools we're going to have an issue. We're back in the States now and heading slowly towards Overland Expo West! ~ Eric

Hey Alan, so I'm just getting caught up on comments. We responded to your message while we were at Expo letting you know where we'd be. Hopefully your phone was working there with all the crowds I know signal was spotty for everyone! ~ Eric

I have a VERY strange feeling about this video. They seem like better people than most yanks but still there's one thing that REALLY ticked me off. Cutting trees to make more light for their solar panels? That seems a bit careless - and I'm choosing my words carefully in case I don't understand the situation. Maybe someone can offer a different perspective.
