That’s awesome! I definitely like both the scx24 and the Trx4m, but the traxxas is just so much more well throughout and better performing out of the box. I’m Sure you’ll have a great time with it
@@LittleGrey I went to the slot car races with a buddy, burgers and beers. Then back to his house where he busted out his RC and the next morning 5:30 Amazon delivered a cheap but fun 4 wheel truck. Love crawlers and dug in! Lights and brass wheel weights are coming too.
I went to a hobby shop today planning on buying the axial. After looking at them side by side. The traxxas was a no-brainer. Oil shocks, bigger battery, waterproof, and the same price.
Thank you for the detailed video. These little guys look real nice - oil filled shocks and water resistant electronics is really cool at this price. I hope that more models will come over time. If it was possible - I would love to see a comparison to the 1/18 FSM models like for example Toyota FJ and Toyota Hilux.
I have all three SCX24. The Jeep, Bronco and pick up. Also FMS 1/18 FJ and Traxxas 1/18 Bronco and Defender. Imo Traxxas has the nicest driving rigs. The others look real nice but Traxxas 1/18 feels like your driving a 1/10 scale.
I'm so envious! That's the exact one I wanted (grey defender). I have a feeling they'll add an interior for the next version so I'm waiting for now, but all the reviews are making it difficult to stay away from the hobby store. The only concerns I have are torque twist (sags to one side under throttle in many videos) and the body clip breaking over time. It's such a good-looking rig though.
It definitely twists a bit, but nearly every rig I’ve had does that to some extent. In driving I haven’t had any issues stem from it. And the body clips make break eventually, but it’s an easy enough fix when it does
@@LittleGrey I'm hoping the twisting is mostly due to user error (mashing the throttle). I'll definitely be watching for it in your upcoming videos. How do you repair those kinds of clips though? In my experience, it just keeps breaking if you try to glue it. Actually, that might make a good video topic. Lol.
@@patrickcha9885 I don’t know, honestly. I’ve never had this before, but I imagine you can just buy the plastic parts that screw onto the body separately, but I haven’t looked into it. Definitely a good idea for a video though!
Enjoy watching your videos Steve - great angles, lighting, environments. I had a difficult time choosing between the Defender and Bronco but chose the Bronco mostly due to videos by RC Fun&Games (check out Reduction Gears and Brass Rims video - 2nd half!) Ordered a red Bronco on December 27, 2022 and hope to see it before the end of January...🤞I also ordered the same rims and tires as the blue Bronco driven by RC Fun&Games. Hope you don't mind me mentioning another 'Tuber, but you two definitely have my favorite TRX-4M content. Looking forward to watching (and liking 👍) more of your videos. Cheers!
Picked up a green defender today the front body clip is useless as soon as you flip it falls off or even picking it up. Used my stock gladiator verse the trxm for angles and the scx destroys it take the body off the defender and it is somewhat comparable
That’s interesting, I drove it around today and took a few spills and never had a problem. I wonder if yours is defective or something? The body is incredibly heavy, there’s no doubt about that!
I'm not thrilled with the comparison videos of these two as they are very different rc's targeted at different parts of the market. Axial was meant for wrenching on right out of the box, the TRX4m is meant to be basically finished right out of the box. The Axial is purpose built as a mini crawler, the TRX4m is a small trail truck. I was excited about the Traxxas when I heard about it, then I saw the body choices and said "nope"! I love Fords, but I'm sick of seeing the new Bronco EVERYWHERE in rc, and the Defender just does nothing for me, despite its incredible detail. Traxxas is going need a half dozen different body styles for this before I'll even consider one. The after market is going to have to get a lot bigger for it too, but somehow I don't see that happening with this as most of the mini rc world is HEAVILY invested in scx24. 🤷
That’s a fair comment, though I’m not sure I’d agree the scx24 is a purpose built crawler right out of the box. It take a lot of work to get it to be really capable. I’m definitely looking forward to more body options for this as well and I’m hoping it doesn’t take traxxas or other companies long to start making them
This comment hasn't aged well. The aftermarket has gone crazy for the TRX-4M and they are selling out everywhere. Demand is huge. The Defender is amazing. So scale
@@germainbilodeau1826 water resistant, not waterproof. it will resist splashes all day but you cannot submerge it, i killed my gladiator in a deep puddle.
