Hitting the ball with a fully extended arm improved my game so much. I used to hit it at head level like I was throwing a ball. But imagining that I had to reach the ceiling to hit the ball allowed me to actually spike for the first time.
@@kindplanet1 that’s just personal preference. If you watch the difference between Ishikawa’s serves from team Japan and Allen from team Brazil. They serve differently yet the ball has no added power. It’s just how they like to approach the ball and the height they throw it at is just perfect for them. Luckily volleyball allows you to change everything within it to fit how you play as a person
You should also show an X over a blocker who jumps and floats laterally vs. jumping STRAIGHT up. As well, an X over when a blocker spreads their arms like football uprights vs. jumping with hands as close together as possible.
Me doing all of this and still fail 😍 (Literally, before I used to hit the ball well in the shots but they didn't have strength, now they have more strength but they don't spend much and more with my lack of a setter in my team)
@@Sulfat_lol I concur, but I can’t help but doing it as a lot of my jump being able to hit the height necessary depends on my arms lol. I should exercise more…
It's not only about reaching higher or not. It's about the finger positioning. You shouldn't just raise the hands to block, but you should try to get your thumbs almost parallel to each other. It's better to block stronger spikes and it's more unlikely to hit your block and pass through it.
actually u cant bend down when u wanna catch the ball u must sit and your back have to be straight if u go down i think is gonna miss btw i just think cause that what my teacher told me 😅
This hurts to watch. If u have watched haikyuu, then yk that Hinata wasn't able to play volleyball at a court or with a team at first. That's also the same case with me. I can't even play volleyball because I live in Pakistan and there are not many volleyball places at local places there are less of them and even those are in the city area😭😭
@Irrelevant lol English isn't my first language but I'll try ny best to explain. In the incorrect one, he put his arms back before putting them forward. In the correct one, he kept his arms close to the net and then put them forward. Putting your arms back first wastes time and energy.
I liked volleyball since 2 grade, but I never played it because sexist reasons. On the east coast of America, it's played by mostly girls and on the west side is played by mostly boys. I have found places for me
How do I hit the ball for a decent serve cause for spiking I extended my hand and it’s the best thing but that doesn’t help me to pass the ball over the net while serving. Any tips??
The hands are wide enough to cover a good area but not wide enough for the ball to pass through, his fingers are also a bit more stiff and not fully extended
@@ronakxroat dude it's lock down in here. Waiting for it to open , can't wait to play after all the Haikyuu created in me . Btw I want be like Hinata, mild blocker, spiker I'm even of his height (161.5cm) although I can't do those freak quicks like him 😅
Probably multiple reasons. You don’t push over the net enough so it leaves your face open, pushing over the net as shown in the video protects your face so you will most likely not get hit. Maybe you just don’t believe that you’ll get that kill block every time and that’s a mental challenge that you have to overcome. Not sure quite what the problem is but I hope this helps :)
Just JUMP! If you’re scared the ball will hit ur face you can move your shoulders closer to ur face (which helps with covering more area with blocking).
Stand a bit further from the net maybe, I tend to get a bit scared when I don’t think the hitter is going to get it over the net and im gonna get face slapped by the ball through the net.
@@Syleion Generally that’ll mean, at least in my experience, that you need to work on how you hold your hands/arms when blocking. Similar to a dig, the tension you hold in your arms plays a large role in how the ball will move after making contact with you arms. Higher tension=harder surface= greater bounce. It’s all about finding that balance.
