Lovely! I have issues with the alternating rhythm...it's one of the hardest part of playing. Practice after listening to Tuesday blues is a good solution. Thanks John for your dedicated teaching! 🎵🎵🎵
Good stuff as always, John. Excellent player and crucially, a great teacher. There are layers here people can revisit. I do guitar lessons irl, although I can't "teach" to save my life and I often "steal" your lesson plans, lol! People shouldn't get discouraged, getting this down is a test of how much you want it, a personality test, if you will. It took me a while to get fluent but once you have it, you have it forever. Like John, I did it the old-fashioned way, just lying around watching TV, no metronome or people on YT to show us back then. It sounded like magic to me when I was fifteen! Everybody thinks they must be especially crap or stupid, too. Everybody. The determined always get there. Like Keith Richards said, 'Just keep picking it up!" One day you just find yourself there. Greetings from England! :)
Thanks for that insightful and supportive comment, Stoned Crow! It is very easy to give up on fingerpicking and even the guitar in general because it's certainly not easy. Just keep picking it up! Agreed!
@@BluesGuitarInstitute Cheers, John. If I could afford to support you financially, I would, dude. Unfortunately, I can barely support my own family. I'm 38, played a long time and imagine you are about my age. I actually feel I owe you a little bit really because I try and do something somewhat similar to you to the kids I give lessons to irl, and I find your channel & videos really inspirational in that regard. It's just a local youth project but for the couple of kids that realise that blues isn't just for sad, old men - it's the basis of everything - it is really worth it. I enjoy giving young players the head-start I didn't have and that's exactly what I feel you do here. Cheers for your channel, it's a great resource. Among my faves on YT, and whilst you have grown a lot since I've been here - you are still criminally under-subbed. Take it easy and have a good one.
@@stonedcrow5821 Yep, 38 here too. I appreciate you following along and your comments. i think they are really helpful to others and a great reminder to myself. good perspective. I think it's great you're teaching younger kids about the blues. keep on spreading that, my friend!
What would this world be with out good people, I so much appreciate your lessons, looking forward to more of them keep up the good work , and thank you again, keep rockin
just meaning to play the 4th and 3rd strings together versus just the 4th on it's own. at least that's what I remember from this video (it's been a while) but hope that helps.
The hard part for me is the palm muting. This puts my fingers in a position I find uncomfortable. And very much different than the classical style I have studied.
