Curious if the last shots on the green backdrop had the same lighting setup as the purple! Amazing work, I learned a lot in understanding how you're shaping light around the subject all through your demonstration!

Beautiful work here, Really Stunning. Could you please shear your range for the Key light setting and that of the fill lights as well? Thank you.
@KarolinaPran
@KarolinaPran Год назад
Unfortunately I don't have the exact numbers, I just test and see. I usually test with just key light first and see how much fill I need and then add fill strobes and adjust their power depending on what I think is a good ratio :)

Absolutely in love with this shoot! I've been trying to achieve this type of light in studio without the use of natural light and I sometimes find myself blindly guessing, and not quite getting it right. I shoot with a canon 5d Mark 4, 24-70 2.8, so I know it's achievable. I'd love to know what's your go-to strobe and camera settings to achieve something similar to this? thank uuuuu :)
@KarolinaPran
@KarolinaPran Год назад
Def possible, you have a great setup for this already. My camera settings are usually similar for all of my studio work, F8, ISO 100, 1/160. But for the strobes I don't have particular settings, I test and see what power I need to be at in order to be properly exposed. I think more important is the positioning of your strobes and the use of the right modifiers! I used white umbrellas for this, together with a bunch of diffusion materials (you can see in the video), which gives me the closes feel to 'natural' light. Hope this helps!

hey, can you explain why the key lights behind the scrim are angled instead of straight to the scrim? beautiful light! love the soft look and the whole image! do you know the f stop difference between key and fill?
@KarolinaPran
@KarolinaPran Год назад
Hey! I wanted to 'feather' the lights so that they would fall nicely on the model's face, but would not light up too much of the backdrop. Hope that makes sense! I am afraid I don't remember the strobe difference between key and fill lights, but I can just say that fill light was at a pretty low setting

Hola! Your images have a softness and smoothness "creamy" look. Do you think it's just because of the lights you use, or do you add a black mist to your lens or do it in post-production? thanks 4o
@KarolinaPran
@KarolinaPran Месяц назад
I think it's a few things working together. I don't sharpen my images as I don't like that overly digital look, I use a pro mist filter quite often, I also shoot a lot with a big soft light, so when you put all of those together it creates this look :)

Hi Karolina! Much thanks for all the BTS content, I pick up so many amazing tips from you that have improved my shoots significantly. I have another question for you - for the lighting set up with the Key light diffused by the Scrim Jim, I noticed you have the light feathered away from the Scrim until it's almost at a perpendicular angle. I'm guessing this helps soften the light passing through the Scrim even more, I was wondering fi the angle of the light creates any light spill, or interferes with the fill light on the opposite side? I often use a Scrim when I'm shooting as well, but I never thought to feather the key light off of it, definitely going to try this out soon! You da best, thanks again!

How do you know where to place the key and fill light? And What studio?
@KarolinaPran
@KarolinaPran Год назад
I usually just test and see. If I have enough space I'll start with about 5 ft distance for hey light and adjust accordingly. Fill light I normally have a little further just because normally use a pretty soft modifier for that, so it doesn't have to be super close. But in general, it's all just testing and seeing what you like. If you are not comfortable with your lighting yet and you are using multiple strobes, make sure to adjust only one at a time and see what it does, instead of adjusting all of them at once. Let me know if this helps! Studio is www.wadestudio.ca/
