Great video and nice shooting! 12mm steel is the ticket you're looking for. 1/2 inch is 12.7mm and 129g. 12mm is 109g and is much easier to get nice velocity with. For reference. 7/16 or 11mm weighs 86.7g. Happy tree trimming!
Thanks for watching KOS!! 75 degrees!! I might have to become a snow bird when I retire lol. We just got like 8 inches of snow today lol. Thanks for watching brother!👍👊
@@rodbrown8306 Thanks brother, I appreciate it!! I’m planning on doing a video with 7/16 in-11mm ammo soon, I think it’s really the best “big” ammo size. Thanks again bud!!👍👊
Thanks so much brother, I appreciate it! I really think 7/16 is a better ammo now that I’ve tried both. 1/2 in is hard to get going fast enough. It’s possible, but I just prefer 7/16. Thanks for watching brother!🙏👊
I normally shoot like 5/16 I have. I got a small can of these bearings long time ago. When I shoot anything bigger, the first few feel like cannon balls. 😅
😂 I know what you mean bud! After this video, when I went back to 3/8, they seemed tiny, and the .5 bands were so light feeling like air by comparison lol. Thanks for watching brother!👊
Thanks so much brother, I really appreciate it. I have another video where I get that 1/2 in steel going even faster. It’s called “trying 1/2 in steel with .8 south wales catty’s” check it out if you want. Thanks again bud!!🙏👍👊
you probably need way stronger bands. I am shooting 12mm with 30-20mm 0.9 catty shack red shot and these things hit like bullets. Estimated 250-270 fps in the Sommer, passing clean threw every kind of can
Thanks brother, I appreciate the advice!! I have another video where I try .8 South Wales Cattys with the 1/2 in steel, and was able to hit 210-215 in the cold weather. Don’t know if I could handle much more draw weight shooting butterfly. I might revisit in the summer. I was able to get 11mm steel going 255 in the cold with the same bands, haven’t made a video on it yet though. Thanks again bud!!🙏👊
Yes with butterfly you propably have to be build like jörg sprave to shoot that kind of bands. My Setup for 12mm steel brings almost 25 pounds to the scale
i am build quite skinny and it takes me a lot of concentration and muscle control to hit precisely, but maaaan i tell ya, you can't beat that wallop of round about 20 joules
Thanks I appreciate that!! It’s a Saunders Spintrap. You can only get them on the Saunders archery website. Pretty expensive, but everyone I know who has it, loves it, including me lol. Thanks for watching!👊
I used to hunt as a kid with handmade slingshots lol. Now I’m older and back on this. Thinking when I go fishing and get bored I’ll shoot rounds 😂 But what’s the good size that’s good for small game?
The most common sizes for small game are 8mm and 9.5mm steel. Typically 8mm requires a bit more accuracy and 9.5 is a bit more forgiving, but requires slightly heavier bands for short draw/face anchor. Also I’ve heard of many guys using 9 and 10mm lead. A lot of British hunters use 11mm or 7/16 steel too so I’ve heard, but that requires some really heavy bands. Hope that helps, thanks for watching brother!👊
@@slingin-clay Damn. I’m like watching all these slingshot videos and growing up. Nobody taught me none 😂 All this time I’ve been aiming wrong!!! I never knew you aim at the corner haha!! Man. Thanks buddy!! You by any chance got any recommendations for me on slingshots to buy thru Amazon or eBay?
@@b.l4365 Its so hard to recommend slingshots, because everyone likes different fork widths and everyone has different budgets. But you can get adjustable GZK frames on amazon, although they will take 2-3 weeks to arrive. Also, many many people suggest the Scout LT from Simpleshot as a beginner slingshot. OmegaslingsUSA, GZk, SniperSling, Pocket Predator, and SimpleShot are all great places to buy a slingshot.
@@slingin-clay Awesome!! Thank you for the recommendations!!! Is there a chance those clay sling shot ammo they sell online. Are those ideal for small game? I don’t believe I can shoot steel in the United States.
@@b.l4365 Clay is NOT good for hunting, too light and brittle. Steel is legal in the USA, but about half the states it’s not legal to hunt with a slingshot, the other half it is. You have to look up the laws in your state. If you want to target shoot with clay, you can find it all over amazon cheap.👍
From fork tip to end of pouch were about 245mm, I think that’s like 9 3/4 inches. That’s about 550% elongation, I could cut them shorter for more speed and not be maxed out, but I usually go for more longevity. 👍👊
Good to know, I doubt it helped at all being 30 degrees F. I ordered some .8 to try out. If that doesn’t work, I made need to double up. I’m not planning on switching over anyways though, just messing around with it for fun lol. Thanks for the comment brother!👊
