When it comes to New York City delis, it's hard to top Brooklyn's Frankel's Deli. Their cream cheeses are perfectly tangy and creamy, their bagels have ideal density and their whitefish, simply put, is a revelation. I also think Molly is learning to relax and deal with cooking without the snobbery. BA is forcing her to become the next Martha. I predict a long career. I really love when they send her out to master basics with plebs. Regarding prices - This isn’t really a “corner deli”. I live in Brooklyn and Frankels is very tasty. They use natural ingredients and cure their own meats in-house. For me it’s a “weekend” place to go. Russ and Daughters, another famous Jewish appetizing shop is also expensive. I also have a a corner deli at my Yemeni-owned bodega and I can get a beggeneggencheese on a roll for $3. It’s tasty, but it’s not the best quality bacon/bread in the world. I can get it 24/7 and it’s cheap. I will happily eat both.

YES. THIS. I've been living in NYC for near 2 years now. I'm far from a native, but it didn't take long to learn that places like Frankel's are great, but I can get about the same quality for half the price at my corner deli instead.

Yes, based on another video I was watching on the best NYC pastrami sandwich it's clear that most have settled on a price around $20 for their sandwiches. At those prices I don't see how people can afford to eat out, especially given that the rent is also unbelievably high.

Just for the record, this is not "an old school" Brooklyn Deli. It's only been there for about 3 years. Before that it was great Polish Restaurant with the best Perogies. If you want to go all the way back ...it used to be a night club. A friend of mine was shot & killed there in the 80's.
