You should make your own "Finnish ninja stars", they taste so much better. Puff pastry and plum marmalade from any grocery, couldn't be any easier. And of course, it's almost a tradition to taste them before they have cooled down and burn the tongue. At least I do it every time ;)

I'd add a bit of vinegar and salt and sugar (my preference is sort of sweet and sour, not sour like mother-in-laws, depending on how sweet the beetroot juice is from the box), our has onion and apple too and is served in sections so you can pick and choose and still recognise it. You can also mix silli in or eat it on the side as you Dave like silli I recall... In Finland you just shove everything on the same plate and always too much :)

Lanttu = Rutabaga. A Swedish turnip-like root vegetable, grows larger and has milder taste than turnip. It is said to being originally a cross of cabbage and turnip. My favorite christmas dish is potato casserole though.

If you want man up the finnish ninja stars, buy the pastry from the store (freezer section) and blue mold cheese (aurajuusto) and bacon. Let the pastry unfreeze, bent the corners towards middle, then put a spoonful of aurajuusto in the middle and do a bacon rose shape roll of bacon on top of the aurajuusto. Enjoy!

@@davecad this might become a pretty long comment, but... I would also suggest - among others - , that you make your "Finnish ninja stars" with Cat or on your own. Just buy some puff pastry from store, and you can create almost everything out of it. There's a plenty of easy designs, or you can be creative and use your imagination! You can use other marmalades than prune in them, that's just the traditional one; it can also be apple-cinnamon (my favorite), or apricot. Also, since you like Vihreät kuulat, you can also use them in your ninja stars, or goat cheese, etc. I would love to see that kind of video happen!

From Glögi brands I think Kaskein (you get that one from Lidl) is the best. Second best is Marli glögi. Dave, can you do a video where you try out different type of christmas chocolates? Lanttulaatikko is the worst 😂 It is so funny, how you have a wide range of taste and you are not picky on anything. Even the foods some of us Finns hate, you love 👍😄 My favorites at Christmas are carrot box, potato box, Christmas ham, peas, warm oven-fish (lax) and potatos with them. Also of course chocolate. There are still some christmas treats you haven't tasted, at least not on live for us: Fazers Christmas Chocolate editions (or winter), Wiener Nougat, After Eight (though they are not finnish), different assorted chocolate boxes (Juhlapöydän Konvehdit) and of course dark bread (not rye bread). These would be fun to see also 😄
