My holographic print is for sale here; www.artofchloer... Today I am trying out the instagram shop tab to pick my art supplies?! Some of these were just plain overpriced and not good..
"Brown's the worst color in existence" coming from RU-vid's number one bear loving artist. I know not all bears are brown, and you rarely paint brown bears. But the two have a strong correlation in my mind.
This is not an insult, but honestly seeing Chloe repeatedly fail and the succeed is very comforting. I'm happy she shows all the mistakes she makes because when all you see is perfection it makes it hard to progress without beating your self up. So thanks Chloe, for being honest, and very funny.
@@kindaakaii867 maybe so that other people would see it? I am not gonna repost cause I don’t want it to turn into what happened on Moriah Elizabeth’s channel.
@@gothicanimeangel96 yeah. i know. I was just giving them a reason why they might have replied to my comment. On Moriah’ channel someone did the same thing like Caitlin, and a bunch of other people copied and pasted the comment. Soon.the entire comment section was full with those comments. You couldn’t find any other comment other than those. Soon, Moriah felt really pressured to do that kind of video so she did. I am gonna edit this reply, and post in another reply I put to Caitlin which talks more in detail about this.
@@gothicanimeangel96 yes, they were. I am just giving them a reason why she might have replied this on my comment. Basically this one person wrote a comment saying “idea blah blah blah, please copy and paste so she sees this”. People loved the ideas so petty much everyone started to copy and paste the comment. Soon, the comment section was filled with that comment and you couldn’t fin any other comment other than that. So, Moriah felt pressured to make that video. People are doing it again on her channel, which is just really bad cause Moriah should make content she loves, not what she feels pressured to do. Here is a reply I put to Caitlin on another one of my comments where she did this that might explain what happened on Moriah’s channel: hi! Can you not tell people to repost. It can cause pressure on the RU-vidr, and make them feel like they HAVE to make that video. You can just simply post the idea once, and let her find it, or other people find it and comment and like but please don’’ tell people to copy and paste. If you watch Moriah Elizabeth, you would have seen that the same thing happened to her. A bunch of people kept copy and pasting this one comment, and soon the entire comments section was filled with that. If you want you could search up only reviews for those products.
I've never heard anyone say "you could probably get it cheaper at Michael's" before 🤣🤣🤣 They mark everything way up to make up for the 40% coupons they slam out weekly.
I once went to a popular art store chain called Blick Art Materials and saw a limited edition Copic Sketch marker set for a really good price. The next week I went to Michael's and happened to notice they had the same set with a 75% markup. Even with a coupon, it would have been cheaper to go to the specialty art store. Ever since then, I lost a lot of respect for Michael's. I knew they charged more for things, but I wasn't aware of how bad it was.
@@BriannaJones329 Yeah, Michaels is more a craft store that happens to sell art supplies. For instance, they have good yarn prices and scrapbooking, etc...and they are always having sales. It's great if you don't' have access to an art supply store locally though and It's decent for certain things, like their sketch pads are marked up but not a crazy amount and they frequently have buy one get one 1/2 off on them and other art supplies so it can come out cheaper. Or for stuff that is rarely on sale, like Jane Davenport's stuff, the coupon is great for that because you don't really find it cheaper elsewhere. I got her Mermaid Markers for $17 with a 60% coupon.

The paint pallet lid is removable. If you angle it at 90° it pops on and off with ease. Just a reminder for those in the comments, professional art supplies are expensive and if you enjoy making art with affordable art supplies, don't let that stop you!
The Amazon issue happens all the time. I’ve reported at least 10 - 15 items where the reviews are for a different things and they’ve used an old product code. If you find anything with 5 stars, I highly recommend reading the reviews and not just believing the stars on the front screen.
I had watched a vid Safiya Nygaard did where she bought clothes through the shop tab. When I looked myself I wasn't wowed by anything. I'll stick to shopping online the normal way
the shop option on Instagram used to be really good and gave options to a bunch of different places both big name and small business but now its kind of weird and hard to use unless you know exactly what you are looking for and it only really gives you options on people you follow,
@@caitlinfren5783 a lot of "buy on Instagram" aren't scams. I follow a few big and small businesses that allow you to buy from Instagram instead of having to go to their store. One art brand i know has this option is tombow.
A tortured artist who didn't get recognition during his lifetime surely isn't smiling at all the people who nowadays make money by lazily ripping off his work.
WE ALL LOVE YOU CHLOE, BUT HONESTLY...WHY- JUST-JUST WHY WOULD YOU BUY PAINT FROM URBAN OUTFITTERS 😭😭😭 MY BANK ACCOUNT H U R T S FROM WATCHING THIS BUT ITS OKAY WE STILL LOVE YOU CHLOE
It's quite a problem on Amazon that sellers sometimes "borrow" reviews from other products that they sell to boost the rating because otherwise they get buried way back on like...page 13 and struggle to sell the product!
Hey you should try something new like sand art from India also known as rangoli I really wanted to see you trying that 💗💗💗💗PLZZ❤️ and also that would be fun also❤️
Imagine having artists as parents- Kid Artist: Mom, I know it’s expensive but can I have Windsor and Newton watercolor set? Artist Parent: Sweetie I have that one already- Kid Artist: Oh okay! Wait what about Gouache or oil paints? Artist Parent: Sweetie, I have those too! Kid Artist: Oh-
Flappingness is my new favourite word 🤣 I also don’t know how you don’t have WAAAAY more subscribers.. I feel like you should. I’m spending my life watching you and Rae at the moment!
The fun part about the shop tab is that it used to be in the discovery tab (: and now they moved where you could see your likes (: it took me a moment to find where i can find my likes and actually make a post (: thxx instagram i hate it
The scene is ELF!!! "Bye Buddy, hope you find your father!" "Thanks Mr. Narwhal." I recognized it almost immediately. Like as soon you put the blue paint down and I could see what was happening.
Could we get an update on the bullet journal you started? I am starting my bullet journal and would love to see if yours was at all handy. :D :D Love your videos
I actually have that big paint pod set! I LOVED it! It got me into watercolors, and it's still something I use to this day :). It's a really nice set, at least to little 11 year old me lol
Those watercolor pods look a lot like the set I tried from Artist's Loft (which were terrible, I might add.) But I'm curious if it felt like chalk once dried. However, I admire your fortitude and the way you soldiered on even when things weren't exactly going your way. It's a good thing you shared this. Sometimes things don't work out how you think, and that's okay. Thank you!
tbh I'm no studytuber, just an enthusiast, but I find for my style of college note-taking that the tombow twintones are fabulous, particularly for headings and diagrams. both the broad and fine tips are sturdy, but the plastic does wear down and the nib does soften eventually if you use them in a particularly heavy-handed daily capacity like I do, lol. I got the brights and pastels sets, and A) about 6 of the rainbow set they have out can be purchased at (at least my local midwestern us) walmart plus B) if you use one color more than the others/lose one/etc. you can actually order single pens in the color you want from jetpens or from the tombow website itself! just wanted to s/o a product i actually like that made its way in among these disasters, eek, sorry chloe!
"This one makes a more solid noise of flappingness versus a thin, papery flappingness noise." The professionalism is palpable in these technical terms! From now on, I shall test everything I use for flappingness noises. Spatula? A very sturdy, rigid-sounding flappingness. Banana? No flappingness to speak of. Very disappointing. Would not recommend for flapping.
you're one of the few artists out there who actually tell people that you CAN make beautiful art with cheap(er) art supplies. Most artists will tell you to spend the extra bucks on more expensive stuff because apparently it'll be easier to make beautiful artwork with more expensive supplies. Which might be true... but to try things out, why invest a tonne of money if you're not even sure you want to do it?
Am I the only one that kept thinking of Lucy from Narnia when she said "That's Lovely"? The scene where Reepicheep was singing and Lucy startled him by saying it was lovely.
Random. I want to see Chloe trying to make watercolours from scratch- like trying different recipes with powdered pigments, gum arabic, honey, corn syrup, maple syrup? glycerine, or whatever. Some experimental things. I think that would be fun to watch.
Indian art supplies are cheap too! You should try them... But make sure to buy artist sets, because students sets are not that good, Do buy Doms art supplies they are nice and also gives you some free stuff like brushes, pallette, watercolor paper etc. in 1-2 dollar.. Please try indian art supplies you sure would like them🌟🌟✨✨
Nine times out of ten with amazon reviews the seller will have multiple items under one listing. EG, Paint Pallet, Pens, Pencils etc and the title will be something generic like 'Art Set'. When the reviews come in they are all lumped under the one listing but will refer to one specific item from the choices available - Its happened to me with items I've bought. The ratings have been good but it turn out that good rating is for something else within the list other that what I picked xxx
I had some of those pod watercolors and purchased them for about $5 at Michael’s. They are super chalky, but the colors were really pretty. But they are strictly for kids or for playing around...but the colors are beautiful!
I don't mind the idea of a shop feature... It been there for a while. I just hate the new placement of it. :/. Also most of us younger artists will never use it cuz... Well we broke so we rather pull a Ray drizzle and got to the Pound shop / dollar store. :P
You should try portable water color pallets like this one: www.amazon.com/Dyvicl-Watercolor-Paint-Set-Christmas/dp/B07F79T1Q3 I have one and they're actually really pigmented and blend really well. (I don't know about this brand exactly but it looks identical to mine, I think they're all made by the same people and just rebranded by the sellers.)
The lid on the chalky watercolor palette makes a really good mixing palette Also, why does the wood thing contain formaldehyde? That's used to embalm bodies, not be used in arts and crafts.
I still use Apple Barrel. I have used them since 9th grade. I graduated in July from 12th grade and they are still well. At walmart they are pretty cheap each bottle though a pack or two would be good if you paint alot.
I'd be interested in seeing you do this again but with products that aren't from big/well known brands. A lot of the people I've seen say instagram shop is good was because it could help smaller shops get more customers but this video showed the complete opposite basically
U could get the camel artist watercolor which is about $4 for 24 colour it's an Indian brand but it's really so famous in India and u would just love there quality for that cheap
Omg this was great lol I also agree it’s a useless tab on ig. Aww I’m sad it’s true I don’t see your posts on ig until I actually type your name out even though I follow you. 💕 love you and your videos always make me smile!
I picked up a trick from other artists i watch here on RU-vid that has worked for me and those kind of watercolor pans. If you spray them with water and let them sit for a few minutes, it loosens a lot of the paint and pigment. It worls great for me
So Van Gogh is actually considered a student grade set! I love their colors though. I feel like there's almost a third quality below student grade sets, like "craft grade" such as the paint pods you used.
