I wish my Fairchild mangos arrived with labels so I knew what each was. Yes I understand it is not cost efficient to have someone write all day on each mango, but a preprinted 3" x 5" card with a list of the possibles that week would be nice.

pumpkin, cooked carrot or vegetable taste usually is an indication of over ripeness, mangos all have unique ripening windows, you kinda have to be familiar with the variety to know exactly when and how to eat it
@greatergood3706

Definitely he had overripe fruit

Just as a warning to all who might get this Fairchild box from Miami Fruit, although the mangos were good, mine were not labeled as Jared’s were, so you might not know which varieties you are eating! I also tried emailing them to find out what they were but they responded that due to the volume of orders they were not able to confirm varieties currently...

I have both Nam Doc Mai and Florigon trees. I like both, and they are quite different. If eaten soon after picking, the Florogon has a lot more citrus flavors. Nam Doc Mai is good eaten green in salads too.

He ate the fruit overripe, his flavor profiles are therefore invalid. Like eating an overripe papaya - it's past it's prime
@gordonspears6320
@gordonspears6320 Год назад
@@greatergood3706 I'm not sure what your point is. It is quite well known that flavor profiles change at various stages of ripeness. Some may prefer the fruit less ripe, some may prefer more ripe. There is nothing invalid about knowing how ripeness affects flavor.

Weird Explorer hey no worries man... I’ve been watching for some time now. I think the ketchup recipes have been some of my favorites, as well as the on-location stuff. I used to work for a company that used purple mangosteens as a base for a line of energy drinks... I didn’t know there so many kinds of mangosteens. And for someone who wants to build their own RU-vid channel, I’ve picked up quite a few ideas and some of the process just from watching you grow. Amazing stuff man. You inspire me with every one of your new vids!

Have you ever heard about Mango de pica? Pica is a location at the north of chile, near peru and bolivia its an oasis in the desert, where they grow several fruits and plants. One of them is de Limon de Pica (pica's lemon) and Mango de pica (pica's mango), They are very unique tasting, those lemons are the best ones ive ever had, the more intense ones, much more fragant and totally a lot more sour than a normal lemon, you can use 1/4 of the quantity of a normal lemon and it will do the same job and even better cuz its lot more tastier and intense. a little bit bitter but not bad at all even good tho. And With mangos happens the same, they are very tiny compared to normal mangos that you see in supermarkets.. here in chile we usually just east peruvian mango.. but with mango de pica its just the same story than with the lemon, the smell is so fragant that 1 simple mango can cover a hole livingroom with the smell (without opening it). the taste is incredible.. sweetest mango.. sweeter than sugar and so so so flavorfull.. that you can use 1/4 of the mango and it will do the same job as a normal peruvian mango. You need to try them they are very special fruits that they only exist in 1 small region at the north of chile. If you want to try them you can contact me and find a way to send them to you. Also with some coquitos which they sell pretty cheap here in the local market :D

I would rate a fresh, perfectly ripe r2e2 as some of the best you can get. I’ve had dozens of mango varieties and r2e2 is definitely up there.

that would be great, because from what I’ve learned so far about this rare mango is that it doesn’t taste anything like a common mango, it doesn’t have that known mango flavour but rather pear like custard mixed with medicinal flavour and a hint of bacon 😅 There is this super tropical Fairchild botanical garden where they have it, but I haven’t found anyone from the US so far having this tree at home or eating it the fruit there. I’m just waiting for our wani seeds from Bali, it seems that it has already arrived to Tenerife, so let’s see 😛 love your videos, Greetings from cave boys 👋🏼

@Isaac-ho8gh 11 месяцев назад
I could be wrong, but it kinda sounds like you haven't had very good Mango varieties since I had quite a few without that resin taste except for flesh near the fruit stem which is normal for Mangoes lol Though, Honey Gold and Palmer are a couple of Mango varieties without that taste along with fucking amazing! The Honey Gold's basically really sweet with a bit of sourness and Palmer ones have a "fruity" taste to them (rather like fruity juice poppers).

I’ve tasted all of these, and pretty much all the ones you showed at the beginning, except for “Florigon” (or whatever that one is called). There are so many mango varieties I have trouble remembering which flavors belong to which name. I think my all-time favorite, so far, is one called “Bailey’s Marvel.”

I wonder if your mangoes were mismarked. The way you described Florigon was exactly how I would describe Angie. I had to throw it out. Texture was good, but everything else really turned me off. Cooked carrots or yams plus a tad bit mango and then some weird underlying industrial strength cleaner -- maybe Pine-Sol?
