Trying Mexico's Spiciest Sandwich: Tortas Ahogadas (#8)

After drinking half a gallon of tequila for the last video, I wanted a new drink - and that would be a tejuino. A Tejuino is a drink made from fermented corn with some cane sugar and chili powder added in. And for food, it would be tortas ahogadas. Tortas ahogadas are the best Mexican dish you've never had. It's meat packed in bread doused in spicy sauce. Since I was in the town of Tequila, which is in Jalisco, Mexico, I knew what my dinner would be. Sound good? Yeah I thought so.

Hi, Mexican guy here raised in Jalisco. The torta ahogada is actually filled with pork carnitas, not beef (never beef!) and beans. There are 2 types of salsa for the torta, mild and mega-scorching-burn-my-guts hot sauce 🥵; it's basically like eating fire, but there is no in between. Some people like to use only the latter, but that's impossible to eat for me; the best is to dip the torta (that's how it's done tipically) in mild sauce and and only add a few drops of hot 🔥for that extra kick.

In 100% of the cases you have a green sauce made of jalapeños, tomatillo, garlic , onion etc which is the less spicy one. Then you have the red sauce made of Chile de arbol etc which is the spicier one but man in any case you can't handle fire lol

I've never seen anyone eat a torta ahogada with their hands until now, the fork and knife are not there just for u lol, ahogados are eaten that way, even tacos
