Cheese and Onion Omelet w/Toast, Scrambled on Toast, and Hard Boiled w/Mustard... not to mention, some good rich MacDonald's brand coffee. Dare I say it again? DELICIOUS!!! Critiquing my new hybrid hobo stove's performance was an afterthought that's why I made no mention of it in the video. First of all let me tell you why I call it a hybrid. In a previous video, see the LINK below, I intended to show you how to build my hobo stove without using expanded metal for the feed hole covering or for the elevated floor. I used the lid of the 1 gallon can itself for a perforated elevated floor and intended to drill holes in the side of the can for the feed hole/ vent hole. I messed up so badly drilling those holes that I just cut the entire area out and went back with a feed hole cover from expanded metal. Thereby making it a new animal... a hybrid. It looks like the hybrid stove is a much better cooker than all my others with the expanded metal elevated floor. This one's can lid elevated floor is perforated with 50 - 1/4" holes, but is still much less "holey". So it actually made much more efficient use of the fuel that I was cooking with. In other words, my previous stoves cook much too hot thereby wasting the fuel while the hybrid gave me plenty of heat to cook without all that unneeded intensity. to think of how so many people spend mountains of money and entire lifetimes trying to find happiness... yet, a simple prayer of thanks, a hobo stove, and a magician's trick of extracting eggs from an empty shirt pocket, combined with a mess of hot water and coffee grounds bring such contentment. whoda thunk? Blessings, brother, you're an inspiration.
@@DavidWestBgood2ppl This made me think of my grandkids (4, 3, 2). The oldest learned to say grace at our table when he was 3, and took over from me. Now the middle boy has taken over that blessing, with his differences. Can't wait for the baby to add her take on this! Such a joy to hear those little voices!
Hello my friend. Just to let you know, I love your videos. I enjoy learning from your videos. My kids seat down with me and we watch them together. They know for sure what i like watching. And we like to go to the back yard to try what we learned. We are spending time together getting to know my kids a little better. And its all thanks to you. Thank you for all you do. Your videos are the best.
Hi Brother. Thanks for including your prayer in your video. Great to hear brothers (and sisters) praising our God and Father. Great videos also. Thanks. (from the Netherlands)
A buddy of mine, when camping , makes coffee with a washed egg (he always washes the egg shell before packing for camping) the same way you are. It’s nice to see someone else does the same!
Got to admit that it is hard to beat eggs cooked in butter and bread toasted on a fire. My bonus of using X-Large eggs or Jumbo Eggs has been when I get a double yolk. That's what I was hoping you'd get with the boiled egg. Thanks for sharing your video with us. Be Safe.
More breakfast than fire making but I am ok with that. You made my mouth water and I said those scrambled eggs on toast look delicious right before you did. Thanks for making me hungry. Stay safe and good bless.
Yummy! Those little stoves sure do a nice job. I have used them before and was surprised as to how little fuel is needed. I was surprised that you carried an egg in your pocket. Now I'm hungry. It is almost supper time as I watch.
Hi David ☺ thanks for showing us differant types of egg recipes using a hobo stove, your making me hungry for eggs, I have something for you to try, cut a thick slice of white bread 3/4" thick, use an egg cup to cut a hole through the middle, heat some butter/ fat in a skillet and fry one side of the bread, when you turn it over crack an egg into the hole, the yolk stays in the middle and the white flows over the bread, cook until it's to your liking, add seasoning and enjoy, we used to make this when camping out as kids, stay safe my friend, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart.uk.
Watched this in my part of the world well past 8 pm. Now I can't wait to have breakfast tomorrow morning. Guess its going to be some eggs and toast. No hybrid stove as yet though. :-)
Hello David. I can't believe is missed this video. shocked. I love my cast Iron also well seasoned. I had a house helper that washed the dishes while I was shopping. She was also watching my mother. mom was on a banana peel for 6 years, any way she washed my skillet I make cornbread in. I did not have to say a word to her, she saw it in my face. I don't think i had been that mad since my divorce in 2000. I showed her how to season cast iron wear. She was still apologizing for a week after. I had cooled of not long after, but it was good she was apologizing. I guess I should have told her but I thought it would help her to remember lol
Regarding hard boiled eggs, you might want to try steaming the eggs for 10 minutes instead. This would only require a quarter of an inch of water in the bottom of the pot. It also provides for more accurate cooking.
Most importantly, it prevents the egg from sticking to the shell so you can't peel it. That happens from time to time with storebought eggs, and is annoying and wasteful, but if you've got fresh eggs -- say, you have your own chickens -- it'll happen _every_ time. (Steamed eggs also taste better, whether fresh or stored. Luscious velvety yolk.)
YUM! Just ordered McD Colombian. Have not had in a while. I was waiting for the price to come down but they have resisted. I really like McD coffee. Thanks PS, had the Bologna, egg, Onion, cheese on toast this am ! Sooooo Goood
I have to do this when my new stove gets built. I love omelets but I use salsa and cheese for the stuffing. I agree no need for salt there's more than enough in the butter and cheese
Great video, again. But mustard on an egg? Hmmm. I guess it tastes like a deviled egg? I'm going to have to watch your making a hobo stove again. Could be a great conversation piece when I have visitors at the mountain house.
So glad to see you were able achieve better performance from the hybrid stove. It appears that the smaller holes in the elevated floor are allowing for the accumulation of coals. Nicely done ✅ David, just wondering if you had shown how you made the current elevated pot stands that are on your hybrid stove? I don't recall if they are derived from the gallon paint can or if I am confused 🤔? Thank you
What a day that will be When my Jesus I shall see And I look upon his face The one who saved me by his grace When he takes me by the hand And leads me through the Promised Land What a day, glorious day that will be.
