I'm honestly not surprised that you've finally found a form that works with you. You've been searching for the past year to find something to elevate your game and I think this arm motion works perfectly. The last half of your swing is correcting to make it perfect. it keeps your backswing low and more controlled all around.

Never stop experimenting 🤩. I also think it's the swing. Personally I have no control of neither the direction nor the follow through with a big swing. It seems kind of counter-intuitive the direction should be off, because I had a very straight and smooth swing according to my coach and teammates. I mean, logic tells me the ball should go in the direction of the swing, right? Next I would love to see him throw some balls down the lane with no swing at all. Just start with the ball hanging, and let the momentum of your feet bring the ball behind you slightly. Possibly best with a 3 or 4 step approach. I moved from that to holding the ball very low on a 5 step approach to reduce my swing. It helped a lot on my accuracy. I'm definitely going to try this 😊

It's a version of a figure 8 swing. Wes Malott is the "best" I know of using that type of swing. Wes does it to help clear his hip on the backswing. I've done it for years and yes it helps me "get up the backend of the ball better". I just have to remember to keep my foot speed on the approach...slow. Good luck and looking forward to the next video.

Great video and it looked really comfortable for you. Reminds me of Jim Furyk in golf. He has had a really successful career. 1993 the balls didn’t help your slight misses like they do now so I can see this being great for you. I took a ball and was trying it myself at home and I can definitely see how, once practiced, it feels really natural on the downswing. Nice job!

3:56 this is my favorite aspect of bowling. So many unorthodox styles have been used over the years, but it doesn’t matter. If you are able to get consistent with it, then use it. It’s perfectly fine, and it’s really inspiring to see all the different styles people choose in bowling. There isn’t a single best one. Just choose which style fits you the most.

Hey I have a thought on your form here. So your normal swing is very high, I think it impacts your ability to smoothly release the ball. Here, because of the whirlwind you were not able to bring it so high. And it actually let you get under the ball and come through it more. So maybe try an episode where you dont swing your ball as high? It might help your game and could be a fun experiment regardless.
@KennethPettay
@KennethPettay Месяц назад
Your the second person I've seen be able to throw a good hook with your hand on the back outside of the ball. All the pros can get their hand way on the inside and I try that but my tricep and lat collide which doesn't allow my arm to get on the inside of the ball and makes my hand always end up on the back outside of the ball. I've been bowling stroker, or the suitcase throw for 25 years and 170s average and I've been experimenting with throws lately to improve my game and you have some great new insights

It’s a great practice tool since it’s exaggerating your back swing to help keep your elbow tucked on the way down. If you stick with your normal form I suggest getting your push away started to the left so you can keep the same concept like the figure 8 swing.

It seems like it makes the backswing longer (time wise) which helps sync things up better through the swing and release. Perhaps delaying your normal backswing by a half step or so could achieve the same results.

I think some portion of the swing is adding so much motion in the beginning reduces the amount of backswing. I always figured 80% of bowling was figuring out what swing is natural for your body's composition. Which is why there isn't a one-size-fits-all style. Or at least that's what I've told my students in the past. I usually said I can show you the fundamentals but it's on you to develop or find what will elevate your game.

Slightly similar to Amleto Monacelli. This style keeps your finish much more square to the foul line. Your left foot is not finishing sideways to the foul line.

I know you probably wont see this, but I noticed that you move the ball a ton when you're all the way back on your back swing. sometimes you wiggle it, sometimes it still, but it always impacts how you get around the ball at the bottom of your swing. i don't know if you're gripping the ball too hard during your backswing, but either way you should keep an eye on it

Hey Mike, Hey brother just wanted to let you know. I think its super cool you're messing with all these weird styles and I enjoy everything you're putting out. But just wanted to mention to you to please be careful with your elbow and arm health. I was messing around with Earl Anthony/Don Carter's excessive elbow bend after listening to Prather talking about incorporating more elbow bend for more revs. And I've now been suffering from bowler's elbow from hell for the last two-three months that just never goes away. You're a super in shape, yoked guy, so I'm sure your arm is probably strong enough to handle anything you throw at it. But just wanted to mention to this to you, so you don't go overboard too fast and risk injury. Love your videos, man and follow everything you do. 😇😎
