My club teachers Leignitzer so it's pretty different from what you practice, but I think you have a very practical and gentlemanly way of fighting. I just got my first messer this Christmas and I'm trying to learn from your videos. Thanks Oskar!
Weirdest game of basketball I've ever seen :) My take from this is the importance of structure. I know you are an expert and as such your structure is always textbook, but the occasions where your opponent gets good hits are the occasions where they hold good form and structure. Aggressive and going forward. It's hard to keep that up. Excellent video.
I know right?! Christiaan has been getting quite good at using his structure to pretty much make most simple attacks quite useless, so it's very much down to using stuff from fight books to gain the advantage and that leads to an interesting sparring match to watch I think. :)
Beautiful disarm at 11:53! I love that you can see the registering of information when you look down at your opponent's messer 🤣. Is that a Kvetun? How are you liking it?
Hehehe, I had a good chuckle when editing that one. :D I quite like the Kvetun to be honest. It's a heavier Messer, so you're forced to do actual Messer with it, bit it's a bit more gentle on your partner than a lot of other models like it. I think that's because it has a crazy distal taper in the upper half of the blade.
Beautiful !! Very good exchanges, will you consider to make a "remake" of the lechukner treatise? I say that because i saw in the description of the treatise interpretation that some of the plays now you consider that isnt correct with your current knowledge of the sistem. I hope you understand what im saying, because my english isnt very good. Best regards from spain!
Well, that's quite a project! :P I may do this at some point, but at this moment my interpretations are still a bit too much in flux to consider a remake. Basically, I'm currently looking at some of the more obscure parts and thinking on how they fit into the system and once I feel I figured that out, I may do a remake. :)
Thank you! It's always a bit difficult to find people to do this with. I started the local Messer community by getting two Messers and occasionally telling longsworders that "we're going to spar Messer now". 😅
the way i was taught messer is very different, extremely deep stance and keep hand under your chin/mask for quick grapples. its interesting seeing a less-grapple focused style
Yeah, I'll get back on that soon in a video on gear for Messer, but I find that the quality of assembly has deteriorated and since I've sent them for a refit they come apart more often. Combined with the fact that grappling with the right hand already makes the chance of them coming apart a bit higher, and a wrist injury that made me prefer a glove that easily slips on, I started using right clamshell and left PG as a standard configuration.
