My wife and I have gone a few times to the location in central Madrid when in Spain. It’s definitely a “tourist” spot but it’s actually decent and offers plenty of outdoor seating which is great when there’s nice weather. Yeah it’s mostly a drinking and snacks place which is fine. It’s not pricey at all. There’s one in Miami, FL USA and you’re going to pay a lot more and get an inflated tourist menu. One word of caution to those visiting the central Madrid location: there’s quite a “step” when you enter/exit the establishment. I walked out with an armful of food/drink and forgot about that step and went tripping outside for an embarrassing fall. I was ok and most bystanders ran over to help and see how I was. Very much appreciated!
Think this series is a real winner Stu.. absolutely love seeing the day to day Spanish eating experience. As work means I can't join the live sessions as much as I'd like this alone is worth the membership... everything else is a bonus. Great stuff. Please keep this as a regular.
Great video Stu, we were at 100 montaditos Torremolinos a couple of weeks ago, just like you say it's great to go now and again, we also had the patatas fritas with 4 dips which were nice 😀
I’ve been to several 100 montaditos in Madrid and my experience is that’s it’s alright for a quick and cheap meal. My favorite has been the alitas de pollo. Thank you Stu for an enjoyable video
Honestly while maybe not top tier by Spanish standards, it is a very good bargain by USA standards. You are lucky to get burger, fries and a soda and not a big one at that in USA.
Spain like a local is excellent! I think you assessed the meal well. Set expectations at the right level and then it’s great! I’m surprised you don’t use your own name, I think if you pronounce it as “estuart” the locals can handle it fine.😉
My only experience with 100 Montaditos was in Burgos. I enjoyed the variety and the meal and service was good. Thinking that you get what you pay for, it's a good affordable fast food choice. The restaurants in the USA are all located in Miami.
You're very brave, Stuart. Usually, I go by reviews, and if they are not good, I won't try. I guess that occasionally, your experience won't always be a good one. Thank you 😊
Hi Stuart I have been to Cien Montaditos in Torre Outlet Zaragoza a couple of times and I’ve always found it good value. If you’re out shopping it’s a good place to refuel and it doesn’t break the bank. Shame about the beer, for this reason I normally go for the coffee which isn’t bad. Maybe you could review VIPS in the future. Do you have them in Madrid? All the best.
I put 100 Montaditos in the "student food" category. Cheap beer on the plus side, but I'm not so keen on the food (especially the bread which is very industrial).
The Montaditos in our local town, Lliria (Valencia) lasted just a few months. We were in there once and it was ok, like you, decent. I think it didn't last cos all our local bars are cheap.
Great video, great review of 100 Montaditos. I´ve been many times to 100 Montaditos in great locations. I don´t like the 100 Montaditos food but for the price and the location of some of them, it´s a 10 out of 10. If 100 Montaditos would charge three times more I wouldn´t give them a 3 out of 10.
Stu, kinda cheap and instant, Are they what i call a ping Meal? IE, a microwave concept so everything comes pre packaged and just heated up in the microwave or oven, and sauce added. Like you say a cheap eat especially if you are in a hurry, so not a everyday lunch. 2€ for a pint is very reasonable but could you stomach a few of them, sometimes the bottled beer is better quality but more expensive. Enjoying these reviews👍
Those tapas remind me of the free tapas you get at El Tigre in Madrid when you order a large beer. It's cheaper than this place and the quality is similar, i.e. not so good.
mate that business would florish in aus if you keep the prices as are and not hyper inflate. i just went to McDonalds ordered a fish filet on its own, small six nugget meal and a mcchiken spicy medium came to $30. i had to remove the chiken burger and not eat as i refuse to pay for dog food above $20 but hey the girls ate. its come to that i have to chose to not eat to keep people around me happy. lots of appreciation for the content and love from AUS
Say around 3.25 - 3.50 euros for the beer. Thought is was a tubo at first, but realised it's larger. Ate in the one in Pl. de las Cortes, 3 Madrid and wasn't mpressed. It was OK, but very impersonal.........................2.00 euros for the beer, I'm surprised. All in all I agree, you can't complain about prices like that, but I think I'd rather eat in a more traditional bar.
We went to 100 Montaditos years ago when we first moved here, never been back! Maybe I have a different palete but Spanish food really doesn't do much for me.
You go here with your son. You said in an earlier video it is his favorite snack place and you take him there. So you already know montaditos. So just this shop.
there are so many good beers in Spain Aguila,Mahou,Victoria Amstel etc BUT Cruzcampo sucks del barril, except for their special 1906 bottled which at 6% is on a par with Alhambra 1925 6%, Carillada would have been my fave as icoik it at home a lot, the orange spread is a big no no for me with two stents in my coronaries not good😂😂❤
Dan Murphy's,a popular liquor store,or bottleshop chain in Australia, has recently started selling Victoria Malaga,I have bought it at the member's special price of $17 for a six-pack,which is cheap for an imported beer in Australia.
With all due respect, 1906 is Estrella Galicia, is one of the best industrial beers of Spain. Cruzcampo Gran Reserva 1904 is the beer you´re talking about. Cruzcampo copied the serial number, but it´s not 1906, it´s 1904. Cheers.
they are always full of Spanish people, esp at lunchtimes. Not always students or young either. They are typical fast food but a 100 times better than McDs.
