The "1" setting was probably a planned "Ultra low" setting that they scrapped. The reason some things take so long to pop in and some don't is probably just because they don't have their ultra low models - except for the few that do and hence don't pop in. That's my theory anyway.

Now I have a somewhat powerful pc to enjoy Subnautica's beauty on max setting without trouble. Also, 2:17 your GPU, Nvidia GTX 1070 Max-Q. Are u using a laptop? cuz I'm pretty sure Max-Q architecture only comes on laptop, for thermal reason.

Back in the day, I played Subnautica on an old Mac laptop. Looked a little like this. I averaged around 11 FPS but managed to enjoy 45 hours before finally upgrading to an actual gaming rig. Good memories though. This video brings out a lot of them.

Imagine going to the void/abyss and exploring for the first time and you can't see the ghost Leviathans in potato mode ,but you can still hear them roar , and stuff.. plus the place is just hella dark , makes you wonder what kind of creatures are actually in that place.

I love Quake-esque graphics, and Subnautica looks very interesting in this form.

Lets name some biomes We have lava zones, lost river, mountains ,floating islands, grand reef, bood kelp, creep vine's safe shallow dunes(aka reaper city) and last but but least we have the cheese biome 🧀

duuude this reminds me of playing subnautica in 2015 on my computer with a broken fan that could only handle graphic setting 1, before they actually made graphics options and you had to press F3 and change it mid-game. after i got a new computer i could handle setting 3 at 40 fps and i was so ecstatic and now with my current pc and the optimizations it runs like a charm on 4

With my old computer I used to have to play like this but even worse. I had to turn off water and quickly open the command console and switch almost everything off in the beginning of the game so it wouldn’t crash. Eventually I made it past the intro, and the game still ran at 15 FPS. Boy am I appreciative that I now have an Alienware laptop.
