Those steam eye masks are a must for me when I take the overnight Greyhound bus from my city to Chicago (which is about 8 hours). They help me fall asleep easier, especially because we don't have busses with private seating like this. I think I became unreasonably excited at the ottoman and leg rest on this bus, and how far your seat reclined - Greyhound seats barely recline at all!

As an American truck driver, I loved seeing the different trucks parked at the rest areas. That one purple truck that was taking up two parking spaces would have gotten yelled at by other drivers for doing that here in the US. That's considered very inconsiderate because truck stops run out of parking spaces very quickly here. Do you know of any youtubers who are Japanese truck drivers? I would love to see what being an over the road (long haul) truck driver is like in Japan. Thank you for your videos!

Japan has the coolest forms of transportation available to the public. I don't like taking buses, as I had to take several in young adulthood and they're just not always all that comfy, but this one is a fantastic thing. The vibration wouldn't bother me, but being able to recline my seat and put my feet up and actually sleep would be a great way to get around if I had to travel at night.

Not all of us can afford first class, While some of your viewers want to speed along from city to city, others want to travel more slowly and see the points between the urban areas. Others get seasick easily, and need choices other than ferries. Glad to know that you are handsome!

The Shinkansen costs just as much as the dream liner if you take non-reserved seats (you still get a seated place usually, just not designated) and only takes 2.5h from Osaka to Tokyo. So unless you can actually sleep on busses and want to save hotel costs, the dream liner bus is not a cheaper or more convenient option.... there are regular night busses that only cost 7,000Yen that I prefer since I can't fall asleep anyway but just want to save money (seats are normal bus seats).

Well driving your own car is really expensive between the cost of the vehicle, insurance, gas etc, and many of the roads are $$ toll roads. For the millions of people who live in the big cities and don’t own cars, this is how you go visit people and places. It makes sense to travel at night if you aren’t driving because then you aren’t wasting precious vacation minutes getting from point A to B. The ferries also are a vital part of the goods transportation system for the country. Truckers use them the way a truckers in other parts of the world would use a truck stop. A place to rest, eat, enjoy a bath etc, especially the cheap group sleeping areas, but at the same time still moving goods. Some of the ferries even have designated trucker facilities. Scheduling the ferry at night let’s the drivers sleep at night and drive during the day.
@PtolemyJones
@PtolemyJones 2 года назад
@@Are_We_Having_Tea I'm not saying it's a bad thing, or that it isn't cost effective, just that I am surprised there are enough people who need to travel frequently enough to make it profitable. Certainly it is, it just surprised me.
@bubbledoubletrouble
@bubbledoubletrouble 2 года назад
At these prices it’s not for a cheap weekend trip. It’s comparable to plane or train. The two factors are departure time and sleep. The last flight out of KIX is at 9:15pm, so you’d need to be at the airport by 7:45pm, which means you’d have to leave the city by 6:45pm. The last shinkansen departs at 9:21pm and arrives at Tokyo Station before midnight. That means you get two hours of sleep before you go home and maybe sleep a few more hours before leaving for work. This bus departs at 11pm, and you get 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
