As a Maine native, it always does my heart good to see anyone in the food RU-vid world visiting my home state, but I strongly suggest getting further north than Portland - You'll find a lot of great small mom and pop shops and if you can make it in the mid spring to late spring, you can look for restaurants putting one of our local seasonal delicacies out, fiddlehead ferns. Trust me, I think this is an ingredient that you will absolutely LOVE. Also, if you love good sandwiches, go to the Waterville/Winslow area and look for Big G's sandwiches. HUGE portions for a great price.
@@ndb_1982 I'm not sure how much you understand about the standard review process, but if you want to have ANY kind of integrity and have your reviews trusted, there is NEVER payment given to the reviewer. The instant you are PAID to review anything, it becomes a commercial.
My best friend is a Mainer and we spend every summer in Southern Maine…never eat a lobster over 1.5lbs - and ask for a soft shell - bigger ones aren’t as sweet And there are much better places than Boone’s…Highroller is pretty legit though
From here on out, I am requesting everything I eat be finished off with a luxurious sauce poured out of a sterling silver carafe just like that clarified butter 😅
Around Chicago we can get fresh seafood but it's pricy. At least that is what I used to think. These prices are higher than what I pay in Downtown including flying it here...
Please tell me where? I've been here for 3 years and I miss good seafood so much. I'm nervous without a good recommendation to dish out for a seafood feast here. I'm originally from Boston so I was used to having lobster tanks in my local supermarket and full seafood stores.
I think mike got robbed that lobster’s tail meat. I feel the lobster stuffing is pre-mixed. So they take the original tail, set it aside and added the premixed stuffings. That’s why you don’t see any lobster’s meat.
Nope. It’s not premixed. There was tons of lobster meat in that tail. It’s all along the sides. They don’t take out the lobster meat from the lobster and resting it. They wanted to film the killing of the lobster to see that it’s just split and stuffed but that’s a no go!
I live in Maine, MOXIE is the only SODA. I prefer my lobster with butter and lemon. but i might try that stuffed lobster next time I am in Portland. love your vids Mikey...
@@RaxaPKXD Me neither, and it's because of these prices. Lobster is always ridiculously priced and I always go for the (much cheaper, and more filling) steak instead.
Scrumptious looking! Love lobster rolls. The combination of melted butter and lobster is my fantasy of heavenly food. Lobster stuffing is on my list now. Sushi burger??? My goodness!! What an unbelievable looking sandwich. Sushi Pizza??? Now I’ve seen everything!! Oysters? Scallops in the dressing? I’m surprised you didn’t swim off into the sunset😅
8:45 You absolutely paid more than $300 for that lobster. Come on. We don't live in colonials days anymore when lobsters that big were picked 20 feet off the shore.
Ive always been told never eat a lobster over two pounds anyway. Sweeter and cheaper lol Seems like you got majorly scammed on that massive stuffed lobster 🦞
What’s with the over emphasis of the first syllable of every word? Do you think you need to speak like this to get people’s attention? The over dramatic delivery makes you seem insincere.
Yo instead of giving Mike a hard time because he gives a baseline of local known places. Give him comments about non tourist traps and tell him about the real local experience
I went to Maine this year and decided to skip the lobster rolls after this place. Not that they were bad at all but in the area you can get whole lobster, clam and potato combo for less than the cost of a roll
Mike I was wondering when you would visit my home town!! Best seafood in the US!! Glad you enjoyed your time there! We actually have a wonderful food atmosphere in general so many different cultures! Portland is Maines little melting pot! ❤
So you got the normal market lobster instead of the fresh Maine lobster? What’s the point of going there if you’re not getting Fresh….. also those people are gauging people with those prices. Absolutely insane.
I think they took the lobster meat out and sold it elsewhere then stuffed the shell with assorted breadcrumbs spare parts of chopped seafood and cheese. Only thing authentic was the claws.
The first taste as it goes into your mouth is like Cheerwine... however very soon after that it finishes tasting like a mouthfull of motor oil. Worst drink ever.
