It looked good and I want the highest spice level always. Both you and your lady friend presented it well but Kai Dow over done Thai style , I like keep my whites soft and not crispy. I have to be honest though that heat level wouldn't even touch the sides. Im in Bhut Jolakia territory but for the price in BKK its looks way good.
@@2Passports1Dream Stay safe you pair and stick up a few street reviews as and when you have time.........I have eaten and stayed in the likes of the Banyan Tree, its close on 5 star........time and time again street food is so better...........Chock Dee Khap.
Hey Dylan and Adriana, thank you so much for coming in and making this fantastic video. You guys did great, haha yes that spice builds! How long will you be in Thailand?
Hey Mark! 🙏🏼 Thank you so much! It was such a delicious experience - we will definitely be back 😍 We are hoping to stay in Thailand at least for a few more months… we have so much more stuff/food to try! ☺️
Amazing how when RU-vidrs work hard at doing what they love they can achieve so much and it's inspiring. Mark Weins bought a one way ticket to Thailand and didn't know what he was going to do, started teaching English while blogging, then started making videos and now he has his own business/restaurant! Still a great RU-vidr!
Yeahhh I never knew Mark owned the restaurant in Bangkok. Last time I went back to Thailand was 3 years ago before pandemic. I will try it for sure this June… I will be in Thailand 🇹🇭
My wife is Thai and we have seen Thai’s that would not eat the chili on top of the dish, and when we asked them they said it is just for show not to eat. But some still eat everything. I thing I would try the #2. Thanks so much for the video ☺️
Ah yes that’s probably wise!! They look terrifying to eat just like that 😅🌶 #2 would probably be a very pleasant spice level too 😍 even the completely spice-less one would probably be delicious because the other flavours were so amazing!
omg as a thai student that's gone abroad it's so heart warming to watch your videos. I especially love how there's also a vegetarian perspective because at least for me it was so hard being veg in Thailand.
Thank you for watching! There’s definitely more veggie options in bangkok. Sometimes it’s a struggle Olin other places. This meal was delicious though 😍
Thank you for making this video!! I walked by this place the other day and thought I should try it. Had no idea it was Mark Wiens place. And bonus, Pad Kra Pao is my favorite!
I love really love seeing foreigners try our spicy food. I was so surprised that you can handle that level of spiciness. Cool!👍🏻 Keep doing great jobs!!
Fell in love with Pad Kra Pao so much that I started growing my own Holy Basil in Colorado (inside of course) so I can eat this dish whenever I want. And to top it off with a Kai Dao (I think that's a fried egg). Heaven 😋
Where did you get the seeds and how did you manage to grow holy basil indoors? That’s amazing! Can’t find it anywhere here in Canada. Not even in China town
@@Busybeeee try an Indian store look for tulsi. You can use Thai basil but it’s much sweeter in comparison to holy basil, whereas holy basil has a much sharper and peppery taste.
@@Busybeeee I live in Canada too, BC more specifically, and there's a family who lives near me who has a website where they sell hard to find thai seeds, not sure if they ship canada-wide though. Also, I've tried posting this comment with the link to the site but youtube removes the comment, so I'm not sure how to send the link without the comment being deleted
So cool to see you guys in my neighborhood! I’ve seen this shop, but never knew it belonged to Mark Wiens. I’m definitely going to try the vegetarian version. Looks delicious 😋
Enjoyed your blog, great to see 2 opinions, one who kicks in with chilli and one who takes it at a sensible level. And showing so much respect to other bloggers. Great job, Have fun guys!
One of my fave Thai food! Haven't tried a vegetarian version of it but I think with Adriana's feedback, definitely a must try. I'm drooling while watching this. 😂 Such a fun vid!
Amazing video! We didn‘t even know that Mark had a restaurant. But we‘ll definitely check it out next time we‘re in Thailand - thanks to you guys! 🥳 We‘ll take the spicy version 😂🤘
As a Thai. I don't like spicy food at first (at first, as in when i was a literal child), but. As i've gotten older i got more and more built up tolerance for it and now, i eat my Somtum extremely spicy. When i make Somtum myself i just straight up grab the chillies with my entire palm and throws it all into a mortar.
Oh wow! That sounds spicy (and delicious!) 😍🌶 We have slowly been working up our tolerance! Since we are both European and grew up on the Un-spiciest foods - it’s taken a little while!
The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the cover of your clip was, You must be bad. Lol. 😁 Mark's shirt 👉"If it's not spicy, I'm not eating" 💯💪🏻 Dylan's shirt 👉"If it's too spicy, Eat something else." 😅😂 and congratulations Adriana for her clever choice of medium spicy.😇👍
I've just subscribed to your channel 😊 The reason isn't Mark Wiens, or the fact that you went to his restaurant, it's because you've been trying hard 👍🍴 Keep on doing this great content 😊💯❤️
Great video! Like many I had no idea Mark owned a restaurant. Food looked great, especially the vegetarian version. Next time drink sweetened milk or better yet have a spoon of peanut butter to get rid of the heat! Water just makes it worse☺️
Peanut butter works?! That’s actually a great suggestion! We both don’t drink dairy but we do eat a lot of peanut butter hehe 😅😍 thank you for watching!
I like to eat stir-fried basil. And I want to thank you guys for coming to Thailand and having fun and promoting things for us. Make good clips for us to watch again.😊🤍
I'll definitely go there when I'm in Bangkok. I like a little spice, but too much and I can't enjoy the food, so I think I'd order the very less spicy version.
That’s awesome! We loved it! The very less spicy version would probably be perfect for someone that still wants a tiny little bit! The other flavours were AMAZING anyway 😍🌶
Wow our eyes were tearing up with you Dylan! We have seen you pop a few chillies before so we knew you were the one who could do it😉We love Mark Wiens and you guys too!❤️
Thank you for a great video! I'm so glad you're trying the vegetarian version! ☺ wish I could fly to Thailand soon with 1st food stop at Mark Weins place.! It's a great idea to specialize in just one awesome dish! 👍 That's a good business model a seasoned foodie would know!
Haha, we watched this video while we were eating breakfast and almost died laughing at the water counts 🤣 That is the best and the worst part of the spicy foods. Great at first and then when it keeps getting spicier and spicier as you go you're like 'NOPE, I had my fair share earlier why you doing this to me" 😩. Great video you two (as always)!!
Hahaha that’s how they get you 😂😅🌶 the spice lures you in with acceptable levels and then just keeps attacking like nobody’s business 😅 Luckily I (Adriana) didn’t have to suffer! 😂 Thanks for watching you guys 😍
Gosh, I haven't subscribed to a new travel channel for a while now (for obvious reasons).. You guys are the first! Interesting content, I really like it! Love from Indonesia
Dylan- dude, you were so brave to have tried that level of spice! I bet it was eardrums popping 🥵 Adriana- the vegetarian dish you tried seemed pretty yummy and thanks for sharing this vlog! Mark is somewhere in the USA right now & I wonder if you guys will ever meet him in person???
Glad to see Mark doing this, it's a win win all around for a variety of reasons. I also think he is being very wise in his approach of sticking to just one dish with just a few variations. If it's successful over time he can slowly add more dishes or more store locations.
Great video, so happy Mark, has opened his first restaurant. I love spicy food, that though would kill me. Loved your video, now you have a new subscriber
Hey mark love the Resturant can’t wait to try your family’s spicy Thai food just like home. My wife’s family lives in Thailand by don mung the original airport now domistic airport when I come to Thailand from here in the USA I’m def going to stop by and try your best street food
Wow, this Pad krapao looks very delicious and spicy! You make mouth drooling. Now, i have to visit this restaurant for wagyu Pad Krapao. Cant’t believe i miss this place despite that i live in Bankok.
Thanks for the video. I had no idea Mark had a resto and I love that it has such a simple menu. I have to applaud Dylan for trying the "very spicy". I recommend drinking milk instead of water (which worsens the burn). Dylan have you tried the Korean spicy noodle challenge? I am not a vegetarian, but would love to try the vegetarian pad gra pao.
Thank you for watching! I’ve tried the 2x hot version of the noodles but not been able to find the hotter one yet!! ❤️🔥🌶 we would definitely recommend the vegetarian one - soooo full of flavour and great textures! 😍
Thats one of my favourites too l always used to go to the same family run stall in Hua Hin Baan khun por.. If your still in BK l saw a Rick Stein episode where he went to a Phad Thai streetside restaurant at Ghost Gate near the Palace they used prawn heads to add colour and taste ... apparently it's the best and oldest restaurant... dont know its name but if you wanted to check it out l guess you could Google that episode and have a look 🙂.. just a recommendation for you both
Omg I didn’t know mark had a restaurant! Thanks for posting this! The food looks amazing! U guys handled that heat well! I love spicy 🌶 too I would try the five chilis as well! I was salivating watching this hehe:)
surprised at how well dylan dealt with the phad krapow. It's definitely the yummiest staple in thailand and its always cheap and delicious. Shame its not always that well marketed as most foreigners who never been to thailand usually ever only heard of papaya salad or tomyum. Thai people don't ever really have tomyum that often.
@@mickbotcast yup it is and i think alot of credit has to go to youtubers such as the Thai food blogger pioneer Mark Wiens himself and of course, the lovely folks from this channel.
Great video. The food looks very tasty with interesting combination of ingredients; spicy a plus. Your accents sent my mind around as I couldn't figure it out at first. Love great, affordable places like this that know what they are about. Look forward to more of your food reviews.
Heheh our accents confuse a lot of people! Probably because we aren’t from the same place! Adriana is Swedish and Dylan is Welsh hehe! Ah the food is amazing 😍 we really enjoyed it!
Love Mark Wiens and so thrilled to know he has a restaurant there. I will be trying this for SURE upon my return, at YOUR level Miss Adriana...not gonna to the one Dylan tried 555
Thank god I didn’t die yesterday… wouldn’t have known Mark owns a restaurant! Seriously he is busy going around the world, showing us where to be and eat, but his own place. You guys did awesome. Love the video… keep blessing us more 👍🏿
I love spicy food cos i am Thai. I sm sure that Ped Mark level it wont be a problem for me at all, as long as they wont use the ghost chillies in it. And you guys did a very good job. I have to say
@@2Passports1Dream I’m also Thai and I would say Ped Mark level is not a Thai spicy level , I think I love spicy more than general Thai people but man I can eat only “a bit spicy” level, more than that is not enjoyable at all
Didn't know Marky Mark opened a restaurant . Need to try it when I visit next time. You are likeable couple and your vids got a good format. 100k sub is not far away. Thanks for sharing!
Yo ! I m Thai I followed and saw your channel since you were in Chiang Mai. I think there are something special and secret in cooking for ผัดกระเพรา เผ็ดมาร์ด I must try eat. Thank so much.
@@eeteetravelfreely0001 I dont have to know how to cook it, that is my wifes job. And if you could see the size of my belly you would know she cooks well..
I always say this, "no Chilies, no power". I love very spicy food. That food looked delicious! I always drink hot tea when eating spicy food. It helps reduce the spiciness better than cold water.
It’s great that Mark serves vegetarian Phadkrapao so Adriana could enjoy. A hint for Dylan is that as you mix the fatty runny yolk into the rice, it helps to balance out the chili heat … at least a bit 😁. So, perhaps you should have ordered an extra side of this Thai-style fried egg.
@@2Passports1Dream that’s so awesome. I love it spicy. And I love the fact that that is Mark Wiens place . He is so awesome, and I’m very glad to see that he has his own restaurant now. 🌶 🌶🌶🌶🌶
Oh yes spicy is always a winner in Dylan’s book (I am less great at it… haha!) it was super fun to be able to try Mark Wiens’ restaurant! It looked to be a major success 😍
Hey guys thanks for the videos. I love them. On a separate note, I thought I watched one of your videos a long time ago when you were traveling and got sick. I can't see to find it. Does it still exist?
My favourite Pad krapow moo... Can't wait to get back over to Bangkok next year... My favourite city in my favourite country with my favourite food 😋😋😋 Chok dee 🍻
you cant trust mark with anything related to food according to him everything is delicious and if you believe that youll believe anything I thought he was legit at first but I've never seen a real food review
@@2Passports1Dream some of his advice was good but all I want is for him to say a dish isn't that good I get it he wants to bring attention to the restaurants but I've worked in 4 star restaurants and not all the dishes were good thats why i like your channel your honest if you dont like something you say it
I respectfully disagree with your opinions on Mark's food reviews. If you observe carefully, he has one Asian trait/character in that he won't criticize others harshly or directly. This translates to his mannerism that, when he finds certain dishes 'not to his liking,' he would just say it's 'ok' or 'good' without his trademark 'closing his eyes and sighing happily.' So you might have mistakenly thought, 'that dish is delicious.' Non-Asians, like you, may find this perplex and don't get the nuance at all I suppose. For me, I can easily distinguish his opinions on foods. He DOES say which dishes are not delicious in a manner of speaking. Plus, he usually orders the dishes that already famous from the restaurants, as said above, so most of them would be in the 'good' category already.
@@AcademeX I know Asian culture but as a food reviewer you should be honest about your reviews and 90% of his videos are with his face doing that thing but to each their own it doesn’t matter what race or ethnicity you are honesty should be something we all follow and plus you act like Asians don’t criticize directly when they do especially in their language but yeah they don’t criticize directly
