Everyone saying the new angel collection blushes might be more BGF so I’ll have to try those now 👀 my personal FAVEEEE Chinese brand that never gets any hype is Kaleidos makeup they have the best eyeshadow formulas and duochrome eyeliners to exist ❤
I have 4 of Kaleidos matte lippies soooo creammyyy blurringgg and sooo smooth!! Eyeshadow palette (black Jasmine), is so pretty and pigmented, smooth and sparkly !! Gorgeous brand.
But they are so not brown/black friendly 😭😭 They have only 2 shades of foundation and they are very light Yet on their website they have a picture of a brown girl wearing their products 😖
Usually asian makeup products arent that pigment so you have that soft blended look, i think the second blush was more visible but yeah its just too light i guess
Asian brands tend to emphasize soft colors as highly pigmented shades aren’t often a trend there. So most of your “colorful” shades will be sheer or muted while the shimmering shades will be dazzling. It’s all about making the eyes bigger and soft shades and shimmer do that while brighter, more concentrated colors tend to make eyes smaller. This brands makeup looks so beautiful and delicate. I want to try it so badly.
The eyeshadows are supposed to be like that, buildable. And easy to play with. So i hope ppl don't expect to have super intense colors from all chinese makeup there are other brands like sugarock or girlcult that are into intense eyeshadows btw.
yeah, generally east asian eye shadows are meant to be buildable or give washes of color vs intense blocks of color, that style of makeup is just what most people use in those places.
@@RynieRajapakse it's a Chinese brand so the focus is on Chinese people. Making the products darker wouldn't make much sense as it wouldn't sell as much as the lighter products
Thank you , Monica! I’ve been wanting to buy those blushes for a long time, but I suspected they wouldn’t look good on medium skin tones , and you proved me right! You’re the best! From: a brown skin follower from Brazil.
@@YumeraChauque eu amo as embalagens, mas tem uma foto em uma modelo de pele escura em um anúncio do blush na shopee e definitivamente fica esbranquiçado nela. Uma dó. Mas fiquei interessada nesse pó roxo…
I have seen a lot of reviews for this makeup and the reviews are pretty consistent. Pretty good quality for what it is, but you have to have really pale skin to pull it off. Not the best for those of us with texture either
They recently released cream blushes for the little angel collection, but I'm not sure how they show on dark/medium skin I only knew that the powder blushes weren't really pigmented which is a shame(as a pale as hell person who likes using powder blush as eyeshadow too)
I own the black swan pallete from their ballet collection, shimmers there are insanely beautiful too, matte ones more pigmented and packaging is absolutely ✨incredible✨
Maybe its just me but when you were saying 'no' i was actually surprised how light the pigment is for the blush. Its actually perfect for me. Personally, i HATE most blushes because they look too dark or noticeable when i'd want just a faint looking pink color. A tint of color if you will. I dont have dark skin [its more tan/white] so i'm hoping when i get this make-up it'll have that tint i'm looking for. Honestly, the make up looks good on you, including the blush. It looked rather natural in comparison to alot of make up thats out there. The only downside is the idea of long wear but that makes it better imo. You can reapply it without fiddling with the blending/the amount being too much by complete accident because said mistakes will be hard to notice. It will also help to give me practice using make up in general for once without breaking the bank so theres that too.
their lip products are amazing !! i adore the strawberry lip creams, they’re so blendable & great for that “natural” look where there’s extra color in the center of the lips! and i’m not mad at their eye makeup either. i have rather light skin, so i’m glad to know their products work well on darker skin too! i noticed they had a dark skinned model for their most recent collection and was very excited to see it! hopefully it’s not just marketing and it actually works on darker skin tones.
I would love that lilac powder! as an asian with yellow undertone, that will help colour correct to a small amount. Purple concealers and BB/CC works even better!
If you're looking for douyin or Chinese makeup you should try the brand Catkin. Their products are absolutely mind blowing. This is from another brown girl.❤ The eyeshadow palette is amazing. And the lipsticks are so beautiful you actually wouldn't want to use them.😅
flower knows just came out with a new release of their little angel collection! the new products seem to be more inclusive, i think they took feedback from customers on previous releases and put out a wider shade range. you might find those more suitable, and the packaging is stunning as always!
Fun fact: Flower knows was shamed on the Chinese internet a while ago for having unreasonably high price for their product. They sold eyeliners for 79rmb (around $11) for 3 (each eyeliner is less than 0.01g).
I’ve been waiting for this!! Thank so much for reviewing flower knows… I’m obsessed with the packaging but their shades for like everything always seemed a lil sus for brown skin
The blush that you pick out is basically used as a 膨胀腮红 and 氛围感腮红. The mermaid series of flower know (the one you have) is a 膨胀腮红 which you can think of as a powdered under eye brighter blush, which is lighter than the skin shade, and also a 氛围感腮红 blush, which is used to give the face some color. There’s also 肃压抑色腮红, which is blush darker than the skins so it gives a contouring effect. You can check if the blush shade is darker, lighter or the shade by taking a picture of the blush by your face and filtering it to greyscale. We use them this way to give more dimension to the face.
im tanned an south asian. but some products still look different on me so i was literally on the website planning to buy two of their blushes but my gut told me to go on yt and check if monica made a review on it first 😭. this happened last week as well when i was going to buy elf lip oils i had to check her channel even without realising. a life saver
videos like this are super important for a learning makeup artist like me - i havent had the chance to practice on darker skin other than my bf and translating my pale ass looks to him is quite hard sometimes bc of colors obv, ty for this content!!
Asian brands are mostly buildable for that more natural look. That's why they're not intensely pigmented off the bat. Also, my fave gay cosplayer couple made this brand and im so proud of how far they've come.
GIRL YOU SWOOPED IN AS MY SAVIOR❤❤ i was planning to get the same palette but didnt know how it would show up. But ofcourse our brown girl icon had me covered.
When i saw the flowerknows chocolate lip creams on an online shop, i loved how it was marketed. With each lip shade, they stated in the photo what skintone color it is suited for. Like for example #5 is best for olive tones and #3 is for medium to light skins. I absolutwly love that cause its very thoughtful so you have an idea what colors to avoid. They also used models that has the skincolors in which they stated the lip shade is suited for. So you wont be wondering if the lip shade you chose will suit you the way it suited the model.
Most east asian make up aren’t that pigmented. We love a soft color, so if we want more pigmentation, we tend to build it. And majority of our skin is medium to light, so if the makeup is so pigmented it’ll be harder to control
Their packaging is so beautiful especially the I think swan, angel or mermaid one.... Omg stunning. Too bad they haven't made blushes for brown skin yet but hopefully they will soon...
i bought the mermaid collection the blush and the eyeshadow. and yes not so pigmented though but the packaging is tooo pretty to not say yes to it! i bought their black swan makeup and that pigment was better!
Actually KOREAN and CHINESE MAKE UP is not very pigmented because it is to give a natural look and they have pale skin too and the products are plant based to so it will not irritate the skin and damage barrier of the skin
A lot of make up artists that do kpop idols make up use that brand! But that of course doesn’t make it bgf, I know that, but it at least shows that the brand works and is good quality💕
I adored the anticipatory rain trigger. We have deep toned wind chimes outside that were adding almost a sound bowl effect while I was watching and the combination made it so soothing and relaxing
asion brands often have a more sheer and blended look so not much pigment. the pallet you have is for a special color type in china. becouse there are less color diversity there are about 6 main catagories of skin colors which resultes in the not bgf products.
i am so excited that you tried douyin makeup!! i’ve been waiting for this! i was wondering if you could also try japanese gyaru makeup? but on brown skin? it’d be super interesting!!
Blushes won't show up on your skin but go for the eyeshadows, lipstick not all are brown girl friendly, powder and other stuff. Girlies lighter than Monica can go for some blushes which are the darkest shade in their collection.
this might honestly be the first time im seeing a a brown girl (tamil at that too!!) recreate a douyin makeup look - you're doing god's work monica!!!! would love to see more east asian products that are BGF
The girl in the first clip is vailnessi!!! So awesome to see my favorite beauty creators together (not really but ykwim). She’s very pretty and her makeup is always stunning
I have the flowers knows essential chocolate wonder-shop kit, and the strawberry rococo lip cream, and here r my thoughts, (as a natural mid tan girl, and I’m gonna use COS for choclate wonder shop, and SBR for strawberry Rococo)FYI I prefer more natural, and cute looks, then full glam, or heavy make up, so I’ll try to make this more open to any1 that wants to use these! -COS mirror(beige color)just a mirror, but it’s RLLY cute, and a pretty nice size -COS lip cream(shade 07, fireplace tea) rlly good lip cream, and I love the shade, and it really gives that soft matte look for your lips, I will say the shade I got for this, and the SBR lip cream are very similar, this more neutral/cold toned though, but I do love this shade, and it’s my perfect nude but not so nude shade, although I do prefer the smell on the other, but this still smells alright, it has a very strong coffee/chocolate smell. -COS eyeshadow palette(shade 02, young shepherdess)shimmers are beautiful, but the colors are slightly too light on me, but the ones that aren’t, aren’t very pigmented but they do show up pretty nicely, and they show up just enough for my taste, as I prefer more natural looks, but if you do not then you’d probably want a white base for this one😅. -COS blush(shade 02, knitted bear)I did pick one of the lightest shades just for the color of the packaging😅, so that is my fault, but since I do like a very non pigmented, and natural look, and it does give u a very VERY natural kinda blush, although it doesnt show u actually put blush on, just looks like u have slightly blushy cheeks, but I do think the darkest color would be perfect for others, who have similar skin tones, prob not the best to buy, if u are a darker girl though. -COS blush brush(beige color) so soft, and incredibly pretty, it’s a good size as well, I have nothing bad to really say about it -SBR lip cream(shade 03, caffe mocha) honestly so good, and smells like berries which smells AMAZING, it’s very good at giving that more soft matte look on your lips, although it’s a pretty similar shade to the COS lip cream but a bit more on the warm side, and in my opinion has a better smell.
The blur , really light pink and purples blushes they have are brightening blushes they don't give the colour but it's more to neutralize and brighten the tone !
Douyin makeup is also supposed to be super light application. Hoping they make darker shades so everyone can enjoy it. We need to see the girlies in douyin makeup 😂.
It’s very beautiful. It’s a shame that so many beauty brands were dumbed down for like over a decade Diana Moon Glampers. Anyone. I’m sure there’s those of you if you know what I’m talking about. Does anybody else remember all of the ridicule around it all brands not being simplified and sustainable. To make themselves less and less and less. Where is the ridicule over the Flowers excess.
Oh my god yes please! I absolutely love buying from this brand especially their lip products, but as a brown girl their swan collection blushes were a major flop. They didn’t show up on me at all, but their strawberry rococo blush did and it was sooo pretty
Yo I have been WAITING for this vid!! I just found out that the owner/founder were this cosplayer I followed year ago and it still amaze me. These packaging are so pretty!! I really wanna know if they are brown girl friendly. I’m so happy you pick these up!!
Thank you for making this video! I've seen this brand on Instagram and tik Tok and I wanted to buy it but I wasn't sure if it was brown girl friendly or not and I didn't want to waste my money in case it wasn't. I am darker than you so I think I will pass. And your douyin makeup looks so beautiful!
