They would definitely hide and emphasize a baby bumb. That style is commonly used for maternity wear as it's not restricting on the bumb and still gives a teeny tiny bit of support to the bust.
The dresses were so cute! A lot of people in the comments saying they look like maternity dresses but honestly the puff just sort of seems ethereal and nostalgic to me (I agree that they resemble toddler clothes a little, but in a slightly more mature way.) I think wearing something so puffy and nostalgic would actually be quite freeing (maybe not for every day, but a night out with the girls, or even just in my room if I want to feel special.) So much clothing is really sexualized and I feel like I have to suck in the whole time. It’s nice to feel pretty and feminine without also feeling hyper conscious of my body. But the jacket though... oh my goodness. No. I’d buy one of the puff dresses but that jacket was either badly designed or needed to be fitted better to her.

I think this comment section is always very nice about everything even when it doesn't look that great (just like Mia is always kind) but it's saying something if even Mia's audience doesn't like the dresses. They are just plain ugly and extremely unflattering.
Yeah I was surprised to see anyone say they didn't like them. I find them really unflattering. They probably looked cute in their sketches but in reality, looks too childish to me.
I just find them very off putting because they look like children's dresses. To me, its like looking at grown woman trying to look like 3 year olds. That's nothing against Mia, and I think the dresses could look nice in photoshoots. But overall, its a big no for me.
Random idea for donating all these amazing clothes: maybe donate them to your local high-school or whatever drama department? A lot of art departments don't get a lot of funding and I know my high-school was very dependent on donations for costumes and stuff. Just a thought. Keep up the amazing work!

The “grandma’s curtains” dress was the prettiest! Would love to see you in it after it’s ironed or steamed! The others, while really cute, kinda looked like a maternity photo shoot🤰
@@NettylSpryngs to be honest I think the fit is not the problem. The silhouette is the one thing putting people off. Empire waistline has the tendency to make everyone look pregnant. Now with the combination of empire waist and super short and voluminous puffy skirt you really look pregnant. Take a look at empire dresses from regency era,they still look okay because the skirt is long and doesn't have as much volume. These selkie dresses in comparison looks odd,because it's not balanced at all
As a Selkie stan with the same sensitive skin as Mia, I would highly recommend trying their other fabrics if the style is something you like (and buy based on underbust measurements) as they aren’t itchy like the organza!
Is the bandeau part of the dress meant to hang lower for a “crushed boobs cleavage vintage corset look”? My ubderbust is 34 exactly so it says a large is my exact size, but the thing slides down. Good thing is the dress looks cuter with a belt so I could use that to hold the top in place. Otherwise I’m afraid of a wardrobe malfunction. I got the La Belle Etoile cotton puff dress btw.
@@rl4657 the cotton ones are usually recommended to go down one size because they have a stretch factor from the fabric. The belle toile is a heavy cotton so it’s prone to sliding more than one of the light cotton ones

I was drawn to the fabric designs of the organza but after your review, I have decided on the cotton variety just because my skin tends to be hyper sensitive to fabrics & I also opt for comfort.
It's an Empire line silhouette, and was very popular in the Regency era (early 19th century)! The straight bodice and flat bust gives me big Regency vibes there too, though the skirts are pretty meringue shaped!

@@mariaah3073 Very very close! I think babydoll dresses had the gathering start above the bust, rather than below, but these dresses absolutely marry the two styles!
Regency dresses had stays under them that pushed the bust up though, at least emphasizing the bust in a nice way. And were of course actually fitted well rather than Selkie's shitty sizing
It’s flattering if you’re skinny, I guess if you’re heavier it might not be flattering as it poofs out on the belly area, but personally it beyond flatters my body as I’m a bit underweight and the added layering just adds some much needed volume to my dress.

You mean Lollita? I think the dresses are called 'Baby Doll' so it makes sense. To me they 100% look like children's clothes, like grown women dressing like toddlers. I can't not see it. Mia is lovely and I'm glad she enjoyed them, but I just find the style very weird and a little creepy.

The dresses looked like they didn’t fit you right at all at the underbust, they should fit more snug over there to make you not lose your shape and feel like the beautiful girl you are and not like a baby🙈 try altering them or maybe do a part 2 where you choose sizes based off your underbust size! 💐😍 love you!!!!!

They are all pretty. My favorite is the flower cotton one. (Next to the last that didn't itch). It looks great on you. Definitely should keep that one.
The short dresses are called Baby doll dresses, due to their empire waist and short flouncy skirts, the longer one (pink one) is called a French Puff dress due to it's mid length and ruffle at the bottom.

I’m not advocating for the fur industry, but I will say that fake fur does a lot of environmental damage. It’s essentially a bunch of tiny threads of plastic.
@@ryanjones7401 yeah fake fur is actually killing the planet too, stick to vintage real fur as it’s good for the environment no animals are still being harmed it’s not plastic and also it’s re-using vintage fur is the way forward as especially in colder country’s fur coats are great, I’m always 100x warmer in my vintage fur jacket than my others especially as vintage clothing was made to last forever you can keep it going and wearing it for many more years! a tip from working in retail, the hems on the sleeves with these dresses can be turn inwards which should help with the itchy feeling, that way the fabric is folded over and the hem isn't on the skin, and it also helps hold the puff sleeve up against gravity 😊👌🏼

These dresses remind me a lot of Ariana Grande whenever I see them lol. I think the shape is really only possible for people with small chests (because the chest part of the dress is SO short) so I could never wear them but they are cute.
