We hit the ground running as soon as we got into Rocky Mountain National Park, because we only had 4 days, and 2 of them looked like bad weather. We got the RV parked and set up and headed out with a very clean and recently washed truck to drive the Old Fall River Road. This is a one way road that is only open in summer and is the original road that was built to cross the pass. And yes it is dirt. Poor Corey!
The trip up the pass was incredible and such a great way to be able to take in the park if you are not able to do any hikes. There are many pull offs before reaching the top at the Alpine Visitor Center. Once at the visitor center, we parked and climbed the stairs to the summit which gives incredible 360 degree views.
We left our mark ( #itsbetteroutside ) in the visitor center and spoke with a ranger about good hikes along the way as well as where the best spots were to possibly see moose and elk! Always check with the rangers as they have the best tips!
Grand Lake on the other side of the pass is such a stunning lake town! We got some dinner and even got to see a boat parade while we ate. Ice cream was a must before we headed back up the mountain to try to find some animals. We were not disappointed with the wildlife we saw on the way home or the spectacular sunset(s) that we got to experience at the top of the pass!
