Trying To Fix A Broken 1st Gen iPad (Fail)

In this video I attempt to repair a 1st Generation iPad that has a error 1602 issue when trying to restore. And as the title says so, fail miserably at it. The 1st Gen iPad was a turning point in the handheld tablet market and revolutionized tablets forever. This one though not fixable via software, can be repaired with a battery replacement which I may do in the future.

the exact same thing is happening to an old model a family member gave me... it's an extremely strange and obscure issue, but watching your video made me feel better! I might also replace the battery some day. (u got a new sub btw)

I actually bought that same exact iPad from him at a flee market, it has the same 2 dots and same issue. 4 years later the iPad has still not been repaired

I have the exact same issue, and I literally tried EVERY single method you did and obviously it didn't work as well. At least I don't feel like I'm the only one who got screwed over like this.

Exactly the same thing happened, my family had an iPad 1st generation and it’s not working. Will you replace a battery on this iPad?

Got the same problem your battery is also expanding and hitting the screen which makes these artifacts my battery is also hitting the screen but its not as bad as yours but still its not working for me it boot loops

Hi, I’m having the same issue and tried all the same things you did before coming across your video. Did you happen to ever buy a battery and see if that worked? My children have other more recent tablets, but they really like the iPad and I would like to bring it back to life, but I don’t want to waste $ if it won’t work. If you do get another battery please update because many many people on the internet have the same issue and would learn from your experience 🙂

You’ll probably need to disassemble it and replace the battery.

Bro that battery puffed up bad. You might wanna replace it since it’s kind of a hazard. You can tell by the spots on the screen the battery is pushing against it and it’s likely not a good idea to charge it with that batter.

I recently got an iPad with this issue from eBay on purpose, if you ever did get it to work, what did you do? My plan is to put it into recovery mode and have it charge that way

It never worked..the only solution is change the battery

Try again. I’ve got a broken one and have NO idea about how that stuff is made. I wish I could get it fixed but there’s no point.

15:56 . Doesn't look to be in excellent condition at all, look at the screen! I have the same problem with mine. Sat in the cupboard for 2-3 years, now it's not turning on anymore. Does the exact same thing with the apple logo showing for a short while, then the screen goes black again.
