Trying to Fix My Logitech Z333 2.1 Speakers (One Speaker is louder Than the Other)

An issue I have been having with my Logitech Z333 Speakers for the past few months is that the left channel of audio is noticeably quieter than the right even when I play audio that is mono and balanced centrally. This should not happen and both speakers should be equal volumes in this scenario… But they aren’t; time to investigate!
In this video I will demonstrate the issue, diagnose what’s causing this issue, and then attempt to fix it, will I be successful in this? You’ll need to watch the video to find out.
*This video is very long compared to my other videos as I intended on making this a 2-part series, however, after reviewing the footage there wasn’t a good place where one part could conclude and the next part to begin, so I changed my mind and put it all into one video.

it has good stuff just the quality controll sucks i have had these speakers as my daily frivers for 2 years now despite me driving them crazy and possibly overvolting them(and overwatting them) the just are clear as ever (occasionally clipping a bit)but the get to 140w from 80w so it can draw a lot more power safely that its recomended

Same problem here: black output volume worked fine, blue output volume was very very low regardless of which speaker was attached. My problem was the potentiometer underneath the volume knob. It was not outputting the same resistance for both left and right speakers. At 8:52, you can see the white 7-pin clip coming from the volume knob/pot. The resistance between VOL_LOUT and GND and the resistance between VOL_ROUT and GND should be the same at any specific knob position. Seems they should scale between 0 and about 12-14 kOhm as the knob is turned from 0 to 100%. My VOL_LOUT maxed out at ~25 Ohm for 10-100% volume, whereas VOL_ROUT output the whole 12-14 kOhm range. I was able to fix it simply by blowing compressed air into and around the pot in the middle of the PCB at 30:21. Seems to have been weak contact in the pot or it's wearing out... Hopefully this helps someone.

I was going to try to fix some connection issues on my Z333 but seeing this video made me drop that idea. Not only do you have to take apart the entire sub to get out the little control board but the RCA connectors are like a full-on assembly? Probably not worth the time and effort for a $50 sound system...

@heyitswill243
@heyitswill243 2 года назад
they glued the connectors since lots of people were complaining there system stopped working and its due to the subwoofers vibrations that get sent out and moving the connectors out of the place
@eksine
@eksine 3 года назад
I had no sound in left speaker, the first thing is to try look is at the connector for the speaker that has no sound, squeeze the connector inwards so it makes harder contact with the output on the sub-woofer box's amplifier board, the connector is loose and making poor contact with the amplifier output connection. if that doesn't fix it than you must unscrew the amplifier board and check for loose capacitors, you must reflow the solder because the capacitor solder joint has broken loose and is making poor contact. mine is fixed now

I think I have figured it out. I had the same problem with my right speaker very quiet and the left normal volume. When I had only the right speaker plugged into the subwoofer I ended up bumping the 3.5mm jack that connects to the back of the computer. It suddenly got louder. I continued jiggling the jack and the volume changed up and down accordingly. So for mine, the wires in the PC jack must be damaged. Cheers

I had a similar issue with my Logitech Z337, but it was only present when the volume was set approximately to a quarter or less. I took off the volume control knob (just pull it out, don't be afraid to use a bit more force) and sprayed a little amount of WD-40 into the potentiometer. Then I rotated it a few times for the oil to settle and the issue is gone now! Also, when I was turning the volume knob, the speakers were cracking, now this is fixed as well.
@FrazerForbes1
@FrazerForbes1 Год назад
Good tip! I also experience the crackling, I believe it's caused from dust/debris inside the volume potentiometer which interferes with it's function.
@TheMassijay
@TheMassijay 3 года назад
I had the same problem with my Z337, the issue was caused by the potentiometer in the volume wheel which was internally become dirty (also oxidized maybe). I solved the issue desoldering the potentiometer (with a desolderer and the soldererer with a copper desoldering braid), opening it and cleaning the internal circuit traces with alcohol, I also cleaned and bent a bit the internal brushes so they make better contact. It's not too difficult if you have some skills doing these type of things. In this way I also fixed the "scratch noises" problem that occurred when I rotated the knob, now it doesn't make any annoying sound. The potentiometer is called (I think it is its name?) B503 and it has 6 pins. I found similar ones on Aliexpress for a few bucks and I ordered them, if the problem occours again I'll try them

The glue on the green board looks like somebody sneezed on it! Anyway, it's pretty frustrating that this video didn't tell me how to fix the issue, but at least I got to see inside my speakers. I probably won't try any of this because it's happened before and the left speaker (on mine) always comes back on again eventually, but I can't believe they make it so hard to dismantle, considering how often this problem seems to happen.

you tried your best but when i saw the glue was thinking they had a reason to be there.I think because of the vibration from the sound that might be an extra security step to make sure they don't get lose.but the 2.thought i had was it might be because they want to prevent someone takes it in apart.good that i know now for what to look for NOT to do.

@FrazerForbes1
@FrazerForbes1 8 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching, with me, the problem occurred sometime later after using, but I've had other comments saying their speakers suffered from this issue when brand new. I think it's hit-and-miss with this issue. When I still owned the speakers, I disassembled the volume control and cleaned the PCB and volume potentiometer which fixed the issue temporarily, but it always returned and eventually, I decided to replace them (and made this video too).

My right speaker was louder than my left, but I finally discovered what was wrong. Because of the position of my subwoofer, I decided to switch the connectors and then switch the position of the speakers. I didn't think there'd be anything wrong. Turns out connecting the right connectors to the right sockets solved the problem. Basically blue goes into blue. Black goes into black. Or else the volume imbalance problem occurs. This comment is only for those who made the same mistake as me.
