trying to fix the scary university buildings in the sims 

Last time I played University, Kyle Kyleson was the random townie that died doing robotics at this lot. My sim didn't know him but pleaded for him anyways and he was spared. He now shows up every few days to ask to be their best friend.

a tip if your modular shelves get deleted: save the room or the whole build with all the placed shelves into your library and then replace the room or the lot with the one from the gallery. for whatever reason, they won't get deleted again from this version!

Simsie feels uniquely qualified to build a community multi purpose lot because she built THE community center. I kind of want to create a base save file where all the lots are the fixed lots.

While everyone remembers the horrible builds of earlier sims 4, I remember no gallery on console. I remember staring at screenshots of people's builds trying to process how many tiles a room was and where everything was placed

For the graves of the randoms who die, you could make a community graveyard! That might be fun for story purposes.

Commercial carpet would be common on the second floor. Helps with sound carrying and muffles the sound of people walking around upstairs.

you should add in a decor box, if your sim visits the lot during a holiday it'll automatically be decorated and tick off that holiday wish, did that in my save and now have some very happy sims :)

Every time Simsie says “college libraries get quieter the higher up you go” makes me question my collegiate life where the lower you were the quieter it was. 4 levels - groups on the top, individual/quiet study on the bottom (literally ONLY single seater desks) because sound rises … if you’re doofin off at the bottom of a stairwell, it rises. If you’re doofin off at the top, most of the sound goes out, not down.

i find giving my university sims a bike is a lifesaver for getting to class on time. it makes the trip so much shorter!

My community collage community center had the library (seperated), book store, cafe (not cafeteria) and a main common area with tables, pin pong tables, pool tables and a stage that they used for events and raffles. It was actually really nice and pretty well designed. Had a nice outdoor area and plenty of spaces to study in a quiet area and places to socialize and relax.

I’ve only had the deleting issue for module stuff for one shelf area I have built . It bugs me so much, nice to know it’s a normal glitch and not just my builds

I feel like the waiting for Horse Ranch hasn’t been so bad for me because I’m not buying it immediately. I learned my lesson from My Wedding Stories and just packs in general so therefore I’m not buying it until a patch 💀💀

kayak calling university an old pack gave me whiplash 💀

The trick on the modular deletion is "more than one build session". If you leave build mode in any way, THAT is when it deletes. If I have to break up my building session, I save the lot and place it new every time I start building so it's all "one build session"

You build in the way I wish EA would- with the sims needs in mind. I can't stress enough how annoying it is to do anything community wise for your sim without the guarantee that there will be area's for their needs to be met. EA just kinda slaps some tables and chairs down inside a weirdly modern shaped building and call it a day. If they asked more creators to come and make these buildings for them like in the past then I'd look forward to seeing the new content builds.

The Soft Landing Playground Cover, in the gray swatch, make a great flooring for gyms, work out rooms,... If I have just a treadmill I'll put two tiles of the flooring down so it looks like the treadmill is on a mat.

Yes the modular closet pieces and the bookshelves used to drive me crazy because I love building closets but it would always send some of them to the household inventory. I found that it does this way less if you have moveobjects on before you load into the lot, but it's not a total fix.

It’s comforting to see you do these builds as I feel like I’m in a constant state of finding old builds I need to redo in this game. I still haven’t done this one, though I did adjust the interior of it ages ago so the cafeteria had more tables and looked less pathetic on top of adding way more items for students to use. The only benefit to that dumb roof was it allowed for a rock climbing wall to be fit in next to the other gym stuff. I’ve redone more of brightchester since I am more comfortable building in that style, though my latest project has been redoing the museum in del sol valley, which is very modern. Maybe I need to do this one next.

Maybe all your sims need bikes to get around the campus so they aren't late to classes

I read about a fix for the modular furniture disappearing somewhere a while back: essentially you need to save the room with the modular pieces in to your tray file and then just place the room again from there. I’ve tried it a couple of times now and stuff stopped disappearing when I reloaded the lot!

I haven't rushed to the gallery to snap up a build so fast in my life! This is amazing :) I wish I had your skills!!

I was thinking that when we make University commons buildings, we should FIRST set the lot to Community rec center and add those required items. It might help to make the building a little more useful.

That building embrace the concept of «open area» to the extreme. It embraces it all the way to absurdity. Make sure that you have your robotics skill to at least 5 BEFORE doing anything on the robotics bench. Better robotics skill = Less chance of getting electrocuted.

I quit playing with laundry partly because stacked washers and dryers would randomly delete nearby items. I even had one that kept deleting a door. Or I'd look in and the clutter from the top of the stack would still be there, but one of the machines it was sitting on would be gone.

Lol to the teachers graves, I've turned your legacy graveyard into an all sims graveyard and I've slowly been depositing graves into it, so I'd add the teachers there, but so far they all have stayed alive while I play, mainly cos I only turn aging on in my main household lol! Loving the Uni Lets Play - I've been waiting for this vid so I can see the building process, and I cannot wait to use them in my game, as I need the robotics stuff too (mainly as I've never tried it) and I did notice all the old buildings from previous expansions are just too big! Playing before the update of infants and babies was difficult, I did have one infant after update and before GT and it kind of auto learned everything which was strange, but I got to play with them both ways that time. But with the Horse Ranch pack arriving I do just want to play it now and nothing else! Oh wow I forgot about that in Sims 3 Uni! I will admit there is a lot to do, but doing the course stuff and socialising is hard if you give your sim more than 2 or three total classes, I've always struggled doing it all! I really love this build! 😍😍🥰 Looks a million times better than the previous one!! 😊 I cannot wait to play in it with my Uni Sims! 🎉🎉🥰

I love this build!! My sim is also currently going to foxbury so i placed it down, and literally within like, 5 minutes her uncle died using the robotics station even though he was supposedly the LEADER of the robotics club hahaha

I always want to make it more like the UWM commons. From as much as I can remember. The cafeteria/resteraunts were more homey. They also had a dedicated game room... with BOWLING!

For sims who die on rando lots, I build a generic lot and decorate it as a community graveyard, and anyone who dies that I don't want to keep, goes there. (by keep, I mean any 'played' sims, or just someone who's ghost I want around to haunt places XD

You need to find the modular item that is bugged. Usually, is one of the items that go to your household inventory. You need to delete that one and buy it again. You can find thw one that is bugged by placing each one od the items at a time, go to manage worlds and go back to the household, of the item is still placed in the world, its good, but if it foes back to the household inventory, then delte that one. That should fix it

to be fair, there wouldn’t be wood floors in a place like that irl but there absolutely would be that faux-wood patterned vinyl flooring, so putting wood down in game could always be fine if you just imagine that’s what it really is

Simsie- the dedicated place to put urns you mentioned is called a graveyard, not a table or shelf in the school!

Missing the meal time to use your meal plan is the real college experience.

I made a graveyard that I’ll bring graves to. Makes for spooky lot for around Halloween and a great house for vampires as well

If you save your lot, then re-download any lot while using modular shelving/bookcases it won't disappear when you load in and out.

In the dorm rooms o usually give my students one of those hot pots from Snowy Escape, and they eat fancy noodles every day lol!

Oh my gosh I KNOW! These builds are horrifying. Like students had better dorms, houses (for upper years often or those who wanted to live off campus but closer to campus), and the STUDENT CENTRES are so much better in real life LOL I remodelled the student community centres to look similar to my own university campus.

Oh my gosh, I thought I was the only one who got bored playing the sims when a new pack that I really care about is gonna come out 😭 I’ve started a generations save recently and my next heir is practically perfect for the horses pack and they’re about to age up so I’m just stalling on playing with them until we have horses in the game 😭

LittleMsSam has a mod that makes the chance for being electrocuted from robotics lower as you get better, and also take slightly less time which is a lifesaver

Literally yesterday I went here with a toddler who was starving to feed it to stop it from being taken away and then it walked from the cafeteria to the sofas to eat and I was so worried it would get snatched on the way!
