Trying to Flee Debaltseve: Russian Roulette (Dispatch 90)

After two weeks of shelling, the situation in the Ukrainian-controlled town of Debaltseve has become extremely dire. For 10 days, the civilians in the town have been without water, gas, or electricity in freezing temperatures. The hardship - coupled with the constant shelling - has forced thousands of residents to flee.
On Saturday, the forces of the breakaway Donetsk People's Republic took control of the town of Vuhlehirsk, around 10 kilometers east of Debaltseve, giving the separatists a chance to block the only road leading north to Artemivsk, the nearest point of safety.
In this dispatch, VICE News travels to Debaltseve to meet civilians hoping to evacuate the war-ravaged town and others who have been forced to stay. We also visit a hospital in Artemivsk to see how the staff is coping with the influx of wounded civilians and soldiers.

For anyone returning to these videos in the modern day, Artemivsk was the name given to the city of Bahkmut from 1924 up until 2016. At the time this video was published, it was still called Artemivsk.

In the end, Russia will completely isolate itself from the West and will have to somehow get on with it by relying on poor developing countries as export partners who's very populations make about $1,000 per year on average. In short Russian pride will implode when they wake up and realize that they're living in shitty isolation 10 years from now. Russia could have developed better working with the west and could have reached partial super power status. But unless Russia develops some kind of Fusion/Thorium energy right now that plunges them into a super advanced energy rich civilization, they're going to wallow in their cold Siberian filth.

World E You do relise what will happen to Russia and it's allies if a war breaks out? Russia is surrounded all around the globe, you just need to look at a map to see that, they would be hit from all sides. Russia's allies would be bombed and invaded very quickly by NATO and their economies would crumble due to no export/inport of goods from other nations. Russia and it's allies will be able to defend themselves for a long time obviously (ww2) but it would be a losing fight from the begining.

Look again at the pro Russia protests, it was mostly guys and a few middle aged women - maybe a thousand or two thousand; hardly representing the 5 million population in that area. At this stage the DNR have suffered heavy casualties assaulting the pocket, however due to Ukrainian defences built during the ceasefire the DNR cannot physically take or surround Debaltseve without diverting forces from other fronts which could leave them vulnerable for counter attack. Ukraine needs to hold onto that pocket to buy time for NATO and the Baltic States to begin supplying weapons for a counter offensive. The Debaltseve pocket is why Zakharchenko is mobilising 100,000 fighters as he needs to push on and take the whole of Donetsk and Luhansk before Kiev is strong enough to turn the tide. Russia is reaching the limits to which it can escalate its involvement or risk a wider conflict and the total devastation of its economy, the fate of this war is balancing on a knife edge and its make or break time for both sides.

It was not Kiev or Poroshenko who started the war. Rebels started hostilities. That's why they are called rebels. Or more like imperialists since they fight for the area to be part of Russia, not an independent state.

Rebels seceded peacefully, like in Crimea, where you had a bloodless secession without hostilities. Kiev started shooting, shelling and murdering people, they started the war. DNR will finish it soon though.

And the Russian Roulette Dispatches are pro USA & Ukraine government propaganda since Rupert Murdoch adopted it, with a lot of fake recordings in every episode, just saying... For example watch the beginning, when the women says she wants peace and quiet and "coincidentally" a shell hits near by. Just look at her and the people around her. Normally everyone would run away and hide in their bunkers because of the attack. But there is no reaction of anyone, just the camera of the vice-reporter is wiggling. Cleary the sound of the shelling was inserted subsequently while there was no offense at all.

One more time have to correct the translation a bit. On 3:17 she says not just "The bloody Poroshenko." She says "The bloody Potroshenko." Notice the letter "t" in the middle? It is a mocking nickname for the Poroshenko. The "Potroshenko" nickname sounds like it was formed from the word "potroshit" that means "to bowel" or "to pull the guts out off the body".

Vladismear Pooptin's "facts" suck hard: 1.Cease fire was broken countless times from bouth side. Noone can say who,when and where broke it first. And Ukraine seems to ask for cease fire only when they are losing some big battle, not to stop the fighting but simply to regroup. 2.Even if that jet was shot down from the rebels with a Buk system. Few things must be considered: - Why it was told to that plane to change it's regular course and fly directly over the warr zone even as it was known that ground to air rockets are being used on the battlefield.(and few military Jets / Helicopters was alredy shot down from the rebels) - A Buk system shows only that there is a plane in the sky. Does not show if its a military plane or not. Therefore a mistake can indeed happen. - What happend with the black boxes of the plane? It realy start to smell like 9/11 scenario-Big cover up in the begining by the media, and then when the uncomfortable questions shows up the investigation simply stops. 3. I'm not photoshop expert, if you are, please show us the pictures before and after the photoshop. And btw the way you call those ppl terrorists bcs they fight against unwanted goverment, that will make the Americans in the warr for their independence against Britain also terrorists.

Meanwhile Ukraine constantly shells areas of Donetsk and Horlivka that don't have any artillery and never did. Between Ukraine and DNR shelling Ukraine hits an order of magnitude more civilians. Which isn't surprising since one of their stated goals is to destroy infrastructure of a territory they know they'll never get back.

At 3:15 the lady called Poroshenko - Potroshenko. (like in Jack the Ripper), told the reporter that it is Poroshenko who is bombing his own people, and asked the reporter to tell the World who is responsible. It was not translated in English.

Alot of pro-Russian propaganda also. The common ignorant citizens always blame the govt. But they themselves caused this by allowing pro-Russian rebels to live among them and collaborated with the terrorists. "You reap what you sow." They want electricity, water, and shelter back? Take up arms and shoot back. That woman is ignorant and just want someone to give, give, give. She thinks electricity and water can just be turned on. How about tell the rebels to stop shelling infrastructure. She is indirectly supporting and creating propaganda and not being helpful but complain. You want food on the table while the enemy is the ones killing your cattle and slashing your tires and keep crying about it. Its a war lady. How dense are you to think the Russians give an eff about you. Russians commit atrocities since World War 2. Russians play 3d Chess, the ignorant mass plays checkers and feed onto the propaganda taking the bullet with extra lube and crying about it. No hope for the ignorant masses who don't even love their country and feed on Russian bull sheet. If your neighbor attack you, do you just move out and give him your guns, your car keys and the keys to your home?

"War - War never change" I feel so sad for the old people on both sides. They have been trough so much sh*t in their lifes. Behing forced to switch sides and homes over and over again. why cant they just stop killing and atleast try to make some kind of peace.
