Just wanna say another huge thank you to Positive Grid for hooking me up with the spark mini to create this video with, I had so much fun! 😁🖤 PRE-ORDER SPARK MINI NOW 🎸 :: bit.ly/3MfIqnQ
As I mentioned about pulling over fretcorner or off fretboard on my mod Kirk Hammett pulls the high E off fretboard on the final bend of 2nd solo. It’s pretty interesting to see what you can achieve beyond standard playing styles
Fun fact: They did actually record it slower and then speed up the recording. They do play it live at full speed, though, or sometimes faster depending on how Lars is feeling.
So she starts playing and I’m like “yeah she can clearly play alright let’s see how this goes” then she starts putting bits and pieces together and I’m like “you had my curiosity, now you have my attention”. And then she cranks the speed up and just puts it all together…. Oh Lordy. Impressive.
That's actually what I just thought when I watched this vid. I've been learning guitar solos for ages already but it never changes. And then you see someone else put a solo together and it looks exactly like when I'm doing it.
I’m not gonna lie, I hit a wall and didn’t wanna practice. Even though I knew how to practice, I never stuck out the process. But sitting and watching you learn a song, not be good at it right away and still sound as good as you are in other videos just awoke the fire in me that 18 year old me used to have when I finally learnt how to do solo’s and stuff. Can’t wait until I’ve finally pushed passed the boundaries that I wanted to surpass years ago
Wow, that's seriously epic actually watching someone figuring out something that feels like it's from another planet. Makes it feel attainable, almost like I could do it myself (until I actually pick up my guitar that is)
@@carlosmunoz1484 oh thanks, I cant read so that helped...seemed there may have been an implication beneath the surface of the statement; suggesting if a girl can learn it; so can he
So like this! When I try to play my electric guitar unplugged learning a new song and sounds awful and feel like giving up I hear a true exellant guitarist like you feel the same. An inspiration
I also get that anxiety/adrenaline when I'm learning new stuff. I'm always like "settle the fk down man" but I never do until I have it down perfectly.
Love these ‘learning process’ videos. Here’s a challenge that’s been bending my ears over the last couple of weeks on and off… the guitar solo in Animotion’s cover of Obsession. Mostly pretty simple in D but a couple of speedy runs buried in a dense mix that are giving me grief. See if you can get them…
I love how your like, We could totally slow this down about 12%, but in all reality, when playing live they are probably playing it 10%-15% faster than studio. Quite funny really, but either way, you killed this for one hour.
Loved this Sophie! It was great to see that we all struggle along to learn a new song. I wish it only took me an hour! It takes me weeks sometimes! The Spark certainly is an amazing amp too!
Holy S*** you figured out and played perfectly an iconic solo from one of the metal masters within one hour. Can't say I'm surprised, you are a stellar talent.
Appreciate this very much an honest approach we are all human , great inspiration. I’ve been avoiding this main solo for along time , time to buckle down like you and get it done !
Wow, really impressive for an hours work!! I learned Master of Puppets way back when I had only been playing two years or so (albeit about 8 hours a day for that two years… .). It took me two weeks to learn it spot on for the rhythm sections and the lead somewhat sloppily. After anothe 10:50 r 35 years, you’ve given me inspiration to go back and learn the lead properly! You’re awesome Sophie, keep it up!!
Absolutely amazing Sophie Respect respect respect How you can learn and bring this up to speed so quickly is simply awesome, 👍🎸💯😎 Great humour , and great tone from the Spark mini 💯 Next in the series , a Tremonti solo from Marching in time🎸😎
I didn’t think that I would watch another RU-vidr named Sofia after finding Sophie Lloyd, I was wrong. You are inspiring to watch, especially for someone who has never reproduced said solo better than you have in an hour. I have been playing since 1994😬
You are so talented and hilarious! I love your dry sense of humor. Going into "My Heart Will Go On" with the effed up flute for a split second was great!! Love your vids!! Crumble..start crying. LOL
By the way I saw Master of Puppets tour at the UIC pavilion in Chicago in April of 1986 before Cliff perished on the bus.Great show they opened for Ozzy Ultimate Sin tour.
I'm form Brazil and I just saw you for the first time playing Sultans of swing and blowed up my mind.. you are very talented and one of the most beautiful girls I've ever seen 😵💫 keep on rockin 😉🤘🏻
When I first heard her I’m ashamed to say I dismissed her as a gimmick but I’ve been playing guitar over fifty years she is not a gimmick but the genuine artist she apparently is! I think when she gets with the right people she’s going to be a great influence on young women all over the world I love what she does fantastic job!
I ordered the spark mini. Kinda sucks that the give them away to a bunch of reviewers but make people pre order them for months. Hopefully it won't be like the first one and they will hold people's money for a year
I think when your trying to learn a song such as this & you feel your life is burning faster & it is like something is pulling your strings you just need to slow it down hahah great vid thanks.
Your fingers look beautiful. It's a symbol of hard work well done. You don't need to worry about the tips of your fingers cause the rest of you is absolutely breathtaking. FERDA
Awesome, one of my favourite solos by Metallica, if you want a fun challenge I was having a look at the tab for the latest Paul Gilbert guitar techniques fretboard masterclass, called ‘That’s to much like work’. It’ll certainly be an interesting one for sure!!!
Might not be a popular opinion, but, you could check out Elixir strings, I've tried a bunch of different brands but I always come back to them, not only are they hella durable, but they will also not tarnish your fingers. Personally I would go with Polywebs as they sit in the middle of coating thickness to "regular" string feeling ratio.
I am quite impressed. I stick to mostly original works for the pure reason that being a musician for over 50 years I am more in tune to my own ways and my own path musically. I greatly admire however those who can do honest justified renditions of famous works. I salute you.
I just bought a Spark Mini specifically because I live in an apartment, and a large Amp would just annoy all the neighbors. And the Spark Mini is just excellent.
Sorry sophie I have been the process of building a new house and my guitar is in storage 😵 I took a break and is stuck in a hotel with a kitchenette since sept… 😅 I’m building a 4 bedroom 3 bathroom to myself, with a gym, computer room and music room 😵 still enjoy your music and I hope i didn’t lose my spark amp because i don’t remember where I store it.
So that’s what the guy was asking me if i could play master of puppets 😂 i look at the beginning i was like sure why not 🤷♂️ who would of known it was based on a solo…
FYI, you can easily make the full size Spark battery powered with a $16 USB to 19v DC cord hooked to a power bank. And when it dies, you just switch power banks instead of recharging the unit. The cordI bought is currently sold out on Amazon, but it was the Ripcord brand (must be 19 volt). Works perfectly. Edit: Ignore the guy in the comment below he's looking at the wrong cord. On MyVolt's website it's the AA932MS, but they are sold out. That hooked to a power bank and you are totally battery operated with the Spark.
Just looked at these. They convert 5volt USB to 19volts, but only supply 480maH, when the Spark amp requires 2.5amps. I'm not sure how this can be expected to work, it's not supplying enough current for the amp to work.
Try to learn the full guitar solo for Man in the Box next .. I love Alice in Chains guitar solos but I haven't even approached that one because it's so elaborate
When I started playing at the age of 16 I could do this too. No MP3s or internet so had to just keep rewinding the tape!!! Screwed up loads of tapes that way. Now I’m in my 50s (yes !! I was playing MOP before the current ‘trend’) I find it a lot harder to pick up the really fast stuff without dropping the mp3 into GarageBand and looping it. The squeally bits are natural harmonics and you need a good trem to pull up the note. Not sure you can do it on a PRS trem.
How times have changed in learning songs/solos. I've had to learn how to play some Metallica solos but the way I've always done it is if I can hear it in my head then my fingers will follow. I have been playing guitar for about 35 years though! So if I can hum or sing the solo then that's 90% of the work done. As I know what note should come next, so then I can slow it down in my head.
I remember an interview with Kirk, and he said the high squealy part happened by mistake. I think he said something like pulling the string off the fretboard by bending too hard something like that.
I have to clear up just a little of my last text about going on RU-vid and learning a song in 15 minutes but when you absolutely have to get it down oh yeah and absolutely takes a couple hours again very good Sophie and your gorgeous hair
Nice PRS! I'd love one as well as a million other guitars....dream guitar is the original Gibson explorer....the wood finish. Cheers from America....rock on!
Don't know how you didn't notice watching the other video, but the harmonics are actual harmonics on the 4th fret. As in the ones where you don't actually fret the note. Guess it doesn't matter now, but if anyone else is learning this it will sound more accurate.
Nice one I might come back to it later I sent it to myself and you know me I watch it I’m follow along a little bit I love picking up Anything I can copy
cool learning process! i use a similar one when learning but with ultimate guitar pro starting really slowly and building speed. think i need to try yours to improve my ear more
That high pitch screaming sound is not a pinch harmonic. That note is produced by pulling the first E string on the twelfth fret off the edge of the fretboard, fretting it against pickup. Kirk made a mistake during the recording session, it sounded cool and kept it.
Master! Master! Master! is so funny without any music. You can turn your finger blisters into a fun instrumental shred song with Bleed or Blood in the title. Like George Harrison's Guitar While My Guitar Gently Weeps. "Tears of Blood" or "Bleeding Heart" or "Bloody Hell." Of course, any Iron Maiden classic coming from your fingers would sound fantastic.
It takes me ages to learn a new solo that complex and you did it in just over an hour... Sigh. Great video, nice to see the learning process. How about Beyond the Realms of Death by Judas Priest? Glen Tipton's solo is one of my all time favorites. It uses very few riffs, tricks and typical runs, so I found it a bear to learn. Lots of memorization. I'd love to see what you can do with it.
From a bass player, you get mad respect from me. I don't say that out of spite for guitar players or because I think there's some sort of "guitar mentality." But I DO very much respect your technique and musicality as well as your ethic. Great musicians become amazing when they work for the music instead of themselves. And you seem very music-driven (rather than ego-driven).
