I don't necessarily have a problem with shorter missions and of themselves. Many of the missions in EDF 2017 were shorter compared to what came in later games (and IA), which meant that you could often deploy with specialized loadouts rather than planning for general utility.
Ditto - I purchased it day one .... and have been playing EDF5 ever since. Will listen to Kevin's (always wise) comments and give it another go. BTW just treating myself to a 4k monitor for my PS4 Pro, but guess won't notice much difference on Earth Defense games......
Even on PC with a UE scripter to fix a lot of the issues, including acceleration, I could not enjoy this game. In fact I despise it. It controls terribly. It still looks hideous. Too bland. I like EDF's overall aesthetic, but not this one's. And my god Insect Armageddon is so much more fun than this. That controls so well. It feels good to play! I HATE THIS GAME. Also they added microtransactions into the game on PC. You can buy the currency with real money. Screw these devs.
changing the view to the really zoomed out one using memory modifying tools actually made EDFir much more playable but its just not the same type of game as the rest of EDF
I was so close to the plat, but haven't played since August. Solo'd everything on disaster except for the Gargant mission in the dessert ( thankfully found a great random by accident who helped big time, that mission is TOUGH imo ), as well as the last 2 missions I need. I'm a bit worried I will be crap now, due to lack of practice.
You are using a wrench to turn a screw. Area exploring missions are for divers and prowl riders. Heavy Striker is for seige style missions and sniping. Missions where the swarms come to you.
AA weapons break difficulty on campaign disaster, the game isn't balanced around those. Prowl Rider can catapult sideways, the speed it does this depends on how much the e-needle is extended and is the fastest way this class can move around if you have enough open space to triangulate your path. If you own the DLC, you can unlock various, extremely low cost to unlock, A-rank gold skin weapons in some of the later campaign disaster missions. The gold shotgun and satellite weapon stand out as a fun support or additional DPS weapon. You unlock cosmetics on campaign disaster missions 1, 11, 21, 31, 41, 52 iirc There are items that reduce reload times. Some airstrikes in the game take over a minute to call in, but are a lame way to ignore learning the mechanics or wave spawns when timed right. Various grenades or mines are a low point cost way to make load outs more flexible to use in various situations. The Heavy is the most boring and best class in the game due to it's ability to survive anything, for a while, and his increased DPS means you don't need to learn the game's mechanics due to the decreased time to kill things.
I hate this entry...I am still playing it just to get as many of the trophies as possible. And there are barely any online players, so that makes some of the online trophies even harder
Another thing that i hate in this game is how it's even possible that a mech even the most powerfull among all that you find it the mission whit all the wasp where you use the mech for the first time, and then you go in the mission where you have to destroy the garganant tell me how a mech at least 10 meters tall been unable to move and been stuck in the same position and you can't move beacuse even the smallest laser that garganat shoot IT WILL STOP YOUR MECH FROM MOVING OR EVEN STOP IT WHILE YOU'RE JUMPING IN THE AIR!!!! There there's another thing that sucks in iron rain, how the hell is this game been programmed?
