Trying Violins - Guadagnini, Lupot, and More! 

The Guiseppe Rocca Turin was my favorite. Really rich sound

I liked the second to the last one a lot

I actually really loved the Tecchler the most out of this line-up! I saw "Guadagnini" in the title and thought, "that's going to be no.1!" ...but for my ears (at least through my headphones) it wasn't as "colourful" as the Tecchler. Yes, the Guad was dark and somewhat like a viola at times, but I really liked the depth and projection of the Tecchler! That looked like a lovely set of (almost) affordable bows too!

The Guadagnini has huge reserves of power. Maybe a bit dark in tone, but a lot of possible variety.

Love the Guadanini!! It's deep and darkly throaty. It truly does have sound. Wow. ( as in loud)

I would go for the first one. The "Dark one". The sound post is off a scooch for my taste causing too much rasp on the G but that is an easy fix. The other 3 are "trading fiddles" LOL! The second one shouldn't be in the pile. Too tinty more like a VSO (violin shaped object) The 4th ain't a bad fiddle! But there is no telling what they are asking for those! Violinists seem to be obsessed with 3rd and 4th position on the E trying to see how loud they whistle ;) I play fiddle where you have to have balance from the open G to the high E. That is why I would choose the "Dark" one. That sucker would play nicely!!!

Comment for non professionals. My violin is a lot quieter then chosen one in this video. When listening to this video, I recall some text about some violin players allegedly develop hearing loss. As a listener, I found this sound irritating. It might be just my jealousy not having a pro instrument, but quite seriously in acoustic room I certainly would not stand playing on this instrument. It doesn't matter how rich sound it produces when sound hurts. You can however play silently, but that wouldn't produce the richness as in full tonal range. What is not pleasing for player, that would also be not pleasing for a listener as well. Of course the strong projecting instrument has advantage in a demanding concert hall, but when my hearing is endangered, no thanks.
