I bought the same kit. I used the kit to make 2 bags from the yarn they sent. My bags are half double crochet instead of the granny square ones. I think it is more affordable to make 2 for the same yarn to make 2. That would make them $15.00 a piece with handles. Good deal.😊

Thank you so much! And that's a fantastic question, I've been wondering that myself, but it doesn't specify on the website. I want to say, it's probably a cotton blend. It feels kind of similar to the peaches and cream 100% cotton yarn, but it has a bit more stretch to it, so that's my logic for it being a cotton blend. HOWEVER, that's pure speculation at this point. Though, I did send them an email asking about the fiber content of the yarn.

I really enjoyed your review of the bag. I have a question though. With the placement of the handles on the granny square- how much weight do you think it will hold before it stretches? I think the bag is adorable. A thought also if you were to make this on your own what kind or brand of yarn would you use? Thank you 😊

The weight is a good question. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about the straps stretching, but the squares COULD, but you do do a final border around the top opening of the bag, so that's a little extra support where the straps would pull. And I don't know how to do it, but I'm 100% sure there's tutorials for it on RU-vid, but you could always line the bag which will help with stretching. And a small bit of fabric to do that wouldn't be very expensive. As far as making your own bag, I'd 100% go with something like cotton or bamboo. Something that doesn't have a lot of stretch to it, but is durable. Acrylic IS durable, but I think it's far too stretchy to use for a bag. Once you put anything in the bag, the straps would be like to your knees lol. You could PROBABLY get away with a cotton blend, so long is it's not too stretchy. If you wanted to make a really nice super fancy bag, I'd got with mercerized cotton. It's stronger than regular cotton because of how it's treated. Plus, because of how it's treated, the colors are usually more vibrant and the yarn has a bit of a sheen to it. Though, I'd say if you're solely looking to make bags for markets, unless you have a higher end clientele already, I think mercerized cotton is a little TOO fancy. It's just more pricey and you can get other materials that'll perform well at a lower price point.

I also don't crochet with my finger up, or the way that's usually shown, I'm left-handed so it was always hard for me to understand how people can do it that way lol its just easier for me to hold the yarn versus having it wrapped around my finger, the tension is just weird when I do it that way lol

Yeah, I can't seem to get the tension to be consistent the finger up way.
