TBH, the tipping system needs to leave the restaurant industry all together. Not to justify poor service but part of the reason why we receive poor service is because servers are not paid a living wage. If a restaurant can’t afford to pay their employees, they shouldn’t be open IMO🤷🏾‍♀️

I've been in the food industry 30+ years: chef, serrver, bartender. It''s true he industry hasn;t kept up with the cost of living as fas as server pay rates. However: to decide you're not going to tip your service people a base 20% doesn't send a message to ownership, it only hurts the server.

A restaurant named Shoney's in my area serves a breakfast buffet for $7.99. They have it ALL! Same with a restaurant called Western Sizzlin. They charge $10.99 for their dinner buffet. They have it all too!
