Just enrolled in TSA, awaiting response and did the application for Global but no appointments available. Headed to D.R at end of the month and will request a interview when returning.

German citizen here - yes, we can apply for GE too, but it was a bit more complicated. First, se need an ESTA, then start the online application for GE. After that, we can print out a form and head over to the German federal police at a German internatioal airport with the form so they are allowed to send a background check of me to the US CBP. This has to be be done even before Conditional Approval, the process up until that point took about 2 1/2 weeks for me. After Conditional Approval, I had my GE EOA interview at JFK - was a breeze and I used MPC. Tried to get the EOA in Dublin beforehand but they didn't accept me without a valid flight ticket to the States that day. Now I'm patiently waiting for full approval - wish me luck! 😀
Great video and very informative. We got TSA pre-check a year ago. About a month ago we decided to go with the Global Entry. I want to say the approval took a week? In order to get the in person interview (Texas) all the airports available were a month or more before we could schedule. We live about 4.5 hours from Del Rio Tx. and checking their and the other ports of entry along the Tx./Mex. border were basically wide open. We scheduled 2 interviews for 11 and 11:15 an on a Wednesday. Went to the GE office on Tues the day before to make sure we were at the right place and to be sure we had the correct documents. They had a pretty open schedule and went ahead and processed us right then. So basically if you live in Tx. It's well worth making a day trip to the border for the interview. The Agents told us people come from all over the country for their interviews there because it's almost basically a walk up and interview. On a side note you might want to to to a border town that is a little more exciting than Del Rio. I'm sure all the other options are as easy as was Del Rio. Happy Travels.

Great video. If you can't make your global entry interview, DO NOT CANCEL. Change the date, because if you cancel you lose the $100. My wife and I got sick with COVID-19 and obviously we didn't want to get someone sick, so we were about to change the date about a month later for no fee. CLEAR is not worth it. First you have to wait for the CLEAR employee, if the airport even has it since they are not in every US airport. Plus you have to wait for the IRIS scan and you not have to show your ID. Totally not worth it. But if you're dating someone who has Global Entry, you'll know they don't have a criminal history 😂 And your global entry has an outdated picture, you should update it 😂
I'll make you feel better: April 6th, 2022 - apply online December 6th, 2022 - called support because there was no progress yet - support opened a ticket to escalate it for me - ticket stated "current escaltion wait time 3-8 weeks) February 9th, 2023 - I call support to check the status of escaltion - I am told I have to wait February 24th, 2023 - Finally conditionally approved. I do not know how all this is prioritized, but I heared of people getting conditionally approved and finding apts within a couple weeks of applying, meanwhile here I am, 10 months later, finally starting to look for an appointment. So, experiences will differ.
Me, too. I’ve been waiting 8 months for a conditional approval. My twin, however, applied separately after I did and already has a conditional approval. He does travel internationally more frequently. So, perhaps that’s why. Definitely not first come first served.
Well, being Dutch, my only real option was to get Global Entry, so I applied in early July 2022. I had to go through some hoops as the background check had to be performed here in The Netherlands, but I got conditionally approved on August 1st 2022. I was going for 'application on arrival' when I travelled to the US in November 2022, but after 3 hours of waiting at Tampa airport I just gave up as they said it could take another 'couple of hours'. Then in February of this year, I got an e-mail from CBP that they were going to be conducting interviews at Amsterdam Schiphol airport in March. Of course, I immediately signed up and after a two questions interview and after the usual fingerprinting and fotographing I was approved the very same day 🙂 I'm looking forward to using the perks when I'm going back to the US in June 🙂

I let my GE lapse and reapply, I was sent a new card in the mail 10 months after applying. I recommend everyone to apply for a new card a year before card expires.
Oh no! 10 months!? 😧 Absolutely. Even though the renewal window opens a year prior to the expiration date, it can be hard to remember when to renew since the membership is 5 years. However, adding a calendar reminder can definitely help. Thanks for sharing!

I’ve had TSA PreCheck for over a year and I do find it useful. I recently applied for Global Entry which is why I’m on RU-vid hunting for videos that talk about it. because I live in a rural state my Global Entry application process seems to be moving remarkably fast. I’m doing 2 international trips next year and I figured this service may serve me well, we’ll see. Just so you know, if you’re reading this and you’re like me, you already have TSA Pre Check and you are applying for Global Entry, you will have two KTN Known Traveler Numbers. Thanks for the video. I will not be getting Clear, it does not seem to be worth it. Lol

Here’s the answer I received on the response time for applications. Mind you, my internationally traveling twin applied after and has already been approved: "Thank you for contacting the CBP Traveler Communications Center. We are currently experiencing high demand and processing volume. Processing times vary by applicant, but on average you can expect your application to be processed as follows: • GE: up to 12 months • NEXUS: 18-20 months • SENTRI: 18-20 months These are average times. Unfortunately, we cannot anticipate a date of completion for your specific application at this time.

I currently have TSA pre-check. My passport expired in 2014, so I was unable to apply for GE. My current TSA pre-check expires in May of 2024. Once my new passport arrives, I can work on adding GE to my pre-check. I do not travel much internationally, but the $15 difference makes it worthwhile. Unless I start travelling extensively, CLEAR seems a bit too costly for me.
Absolutely. Even if you don't really travel internationally, I think Global Entry is still worth having. At least you have TSA PreCheck in the meantime 👍. Right, CLEAR is out of my budget for what it offers lol, but I guess it works for some travelers.
Yes and clear works hand in hand with TSA Pre Check and Clear has nothing to do with the taking off the shoes process since Clear gives the option of being a clear “standard” member or a clear “TSA Precheck” member. Clear just simply cuts in front of the existing standard or TSA precheck lanes which the reason why its a privately own company with NO competitors at the airport. Also Clear has begun to open at all of the smaller airports in the nation.
By the way the benefits of having clear is that the biometrics they use is way better in confirming that you is you than your ID and SOON to be way faster like global entry,
It only took approximately 30 days from application to interview to receiving my global entry card in the mail in just 4 weeks prior to my travels to Europe 🙏 👍.
personally if you have global entry i wouldn’t apply for tsa pre check since it already comes with it and there’s only a $15 difference. you’d just be paying twice for no reason. global entry comes with tsa precheck, so all you have to do is use your global entry number as your known travel number and it pops up.
Wish i saw this video before getting my precheck, otherwise i would've got global entry since it has the same benefits of precheck. Only had my precheck for a month.
Oh noooo! 😔 If you want, you can still apply for Global Entry now, which unfortunately means another enrollment process plus fee or wait and apply after your TSA PreCheck expires.
My daughter & I applied for Global Entry on 6/20/23 & heard back from them on 6/21/23 at 0100. Interview won’t be until August 2023. It was pretty swift for us considering the process is 4-6 mon..

Based on my experience and research, it is going to vary DRASTICALLY from one person to another. For Crystal (video creator), it took two days, it took me just about 10 months. So, there is absolutely no way to tell when, just keep checking it daily.
That's great! 🙂 Unfortunately, there is no exact processing time schedule with this application process. The wait could depend on various factors. Some applicants may have a fast experience like I did (Conditionally approved in a few days), while others may have a long processing wait.
Great question! It kind of started when I completed the process. Let me explain lol…the Global Entry membership expires on your birthday of the 5th year. For example, if you get approved after your birthday passed, they will not back track and use your application date because it has to be a FULL 5 year membership. So I was approved in September 2022 and my birthday is in March. Instead of back tracking and ending my membership in 2027, they used my upcoming birthday and it’s valid through 2028. I hope this makes sense. 🥴 In simpler terms, you won’t get shorted or lose any validity time.
