SummaryThis article supersedes TSB 19-2249 to update the Service Procedure and Part List.Issue: Some 2018-2019 Edge/Continental, 2018 MKX and 2019 Nautilus vehicles built on or before 1-Aug-2019 and 2018-2019 Fusion/MKZ vehicles built on or before 15-Aug-2019 equipped with a 2.7L EcoBoost or 3.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit an oil leak from the engine oil pan RTV seal. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the oil pan with a new oil pan equipped with apress in place gasket.Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria:• One of the following vehicle lines:- 2018-2019 Edge/Continental, 2018 MKX, or 2019 Nautilus built on or before 1-Aug-2019- 2018-2019 Fusion/MKZ built on or before 15-Aug-2019 2.7L/3.0L EcoBoost engine

IF you have one of these cars and its still under warranty, I recommend getting someone to look under there so it can be fixed before its out of warranty.

So glad my New Ranger has a heavy Aluminum oil pan with a traditional drain plug ,,,NO plastic drain plug,,,

The real shame here is that probably 99% of the people purchasing a Ford vehicle are unaware that they're getting plastic oil and transmission pans.

Bought a used 2015 Edge, was fine for a while but now I am getting a leak around the pan... Infuriating that this is such a known problem that ford is refusing to fix

It sucks because I have a 2017 F150 2.7 eco boost engine and is currently at the dealership for the 5th time with the oil pan leaking. I only noticed the leak because I put a suspension lift on my truck and they removed the plastic protector that hides the engine. I'm sure a ton of people have this same leak, but they won't know because they have that plastic protector catching all the drips. I always took my oil to get changed at the dealership and they never told me about a leak, but if it's a faulty design Im sure they are told just to clean up the oil and wait till the power train warrenty is over so they can make money on servicing them afterwards or devalue the vehicle and give you a low ball trade because it has a leak. Lucky mine is still under the power train warrenty. I've made them give me a rental each time so it saves me miles for the power train warrenty so if I have to take it back over and over until the warrenty is out, I will do so unless they buy it back from me as a lemon.

TSB 19 2387 Does not apply to F-150 Trucks. TSB 19-2205 that has been superseded by TSB 23 2083 does apply to F-150 Trucks years 2015 - 2017.

Have you done any videos on the tsb or maybe it was a recall can't remember, for 5.0L oil consumption? Had to scribe dipstick and such? We had to change 3 engines due to that junk

I have the 2015 f150 but installed a catch can. Could I use the gasketed oil pan that’s designed for the newer f150? Same 2.7L motor.

Hopefully Ford will redesign the oil pan for the earlier 2.7’s. They might be waiting to make sure the new redesigned pan works before they redesign the earlier versions?

2020 f150, plastic oil pan plug leaks, wont fit tight, plastic stops on pan prevent tightening

I have a 2019 F150 2.7, 44k miles. I've noticed oil leak on the front cover below the oil filter housing...particularly around the bolt. Where is this leak coming from???? I will be taking it to ford dealer under factory warranty. Hopefully the repair is not too long!!

I'm about to put in 5 hours to have one replaced with another plastic pan. My guess is that it's better to have the oil pan replaced than a main rear seal.

Not a 100% sure, but research suggest that the 2 piece oil pan on the 2017 3.5 eco can swapped with the 2018 one piece aluminum (spectra premium fp71a). 2017 uses an oil pan and separate stiffener which combines to give the shape of the 2016 or 2018 one piece. Might also have to swap the oil pickup as well, but seems worth it to get rid of the plastic one.

I have had to have my 2016 Ford Edge oil pan leak repaired several times, now it is leaking again. It's time for Ford to come up with a real fix instead of a patch. Even if it means a new engine. Tired of going back for repair due to poor design.

I wonder how many techs do not do these properly because it doesn’t take much for a pan to leak if it’s not completely dry and these technicians are always pushed on time. I was looking at an Edge 2.7 sport a couple years ago I think it was a 19 and it was a great price and I couldn’t figure out why. I checked the car fax and it had had 4 oil pan replacements…, now idk if the pan is that bad of a design and they kept just putting a defective ones on or the job just wasn’t getting done right but I moved on from that thought when I saw that. Sad such nice vehicles otherwise are ruined by one bad part or lack of Ford correcting the problem within a reasonable time frame .

I have a 2016 F150 and just had the second oil pan replaced on my 2.7 eco boost engine in 4 months! I hope this isn't an ongoing issue!!

The turbos creating too much blow with the EGR system adding positive pressure to the crankcase, heads etc. Blowing out gaskets.....

This is why you have a breather valve, unless that is clogged, the positive pressure should be low.

I have a 2017 Fusion 2.7 and am scheduled for my 4h oil pan in 4.5 years. I have 32,000 miles on the odometer. Your video is insightful however no solution found for long term repair. Great car, very poor engineering.

Add in the fact that it doesn't have an o-ring and needs to be RTV'd makes it a double cluster.

Terrible!!!!! I have a f150 Eco Boost 2.7 2016 Oil pan been replaced twice....TERRIBLE DESIGN...Ford fixed the leak and it start back leaking 6 months later 😡
