Hi George! This video made me smile! The lights and digital dynamic exhaust really bring this locomotive to life. These are very fine steps to bring this locomotive into the next level of detail! Nice job!!! Thanks for the shout out too!!!

Oofta! I'm getting ready to put the Soundtraxx decoder, speaker, and keep-alive into an EMD SW1 yard goat. This video is giving me anxiety and I haven't even started yet. Thanks George

Don't feel overwhelmed. Most cases you don't need this much micro work. But, if you get stuck, or need help, contact our Support Department by email or phone and we'll help get you on your way to a successful install. support@soundtraxx.com or by phone, 970.259.0690 ext 22. In the meantime, I'd suggest watching Webinar 7 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0x2lHtUu4jE.html and Webinar 8 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1Qxv3iZcL6s.html to help you get ready for the install. Your biggest challenge will be available space, but I was able to get a TSU-1100 and 2 speakers into a SW1200, so you should be fine. Again, reach out if you need help! Thank you for watching. ~G

Nice video. I will have to look into Nick's light set. Your project here is exactly why decoder buddy and TS2 21 pin is my decoder of choice for Scale Trains or anything not 21 pin ready. I prefer this to the PNP boards because it is quicker and easier than trying to squeeze in resisters in some pretty tight shells.

I can understand, especially when space it tight. But I have been using the Nix lights for a while now. The scaled lamp shade adds the realism, and they're easy to work with. I just got done adding lights to 2 of my Athearn Dash-9 locos, with 1 more to go. Thanks for watching! ~G

George will a Current Keeper or Current Keeper II fit in a scale trains unit with this board or a PNP-8? I saw in the PNP-8 video you used different capacitors. I was wondering if the reason why is due to their not being enoug space for a standard current keeper?
@SoundtraxxDCC
@SoundtraxxDCC 10 месяцев назад
They use a different style/design, using only smaller caps, so you should be able to fit a CKII, but you may have to cut some of the frame out to make the room. I don’t know if the original CK would fit above the PCB or not. On a different install in this loco, I cut out the space where their original caps lived to make room for 2 more Cube Speakers. You could easily fit the CKII there. I hope this helps.

It’s always a shame when you have to do more work than necessary to do a simple drop in and go install. ScaleTrains is basically doing what MTH/BLI did/do with proprietary junk, just in the guise of letting you use whatever you want. Just won’t have access to everything.

@@ExplodedwarlockD2 not exactly a fan of ESU junk sound… kinda why I don’t follow them on social medias and why I’m here not there. Soundtraxx and TCS will always sound better than extra equipment needed to program a decoder or take it to a hobby shop. Soundtraxx will always be first choice or TCS for whistle choice. Lately it’s just been Soundtraxx as TCS has not impressed me lately and ESU never will. ESU is not the second coming and it never will be.
@James-Railyard
@James-Railyard Год назад
@@ExplodedwarlockD2 thing is, I don’t have a computer near my layout to do the ESU programming and I’ll even say this, TCS is a pain to program. I have no issues flying through a new engine set up with Soundtraxx decoders. Just PoM, CV, and fly away with the numbers. It also depends on command station too. I use NCE like George does in this video, quick and easy to program. I’ll admit, there’s times outta the box that TSU can sound ish but putting the time into tuning it in is what I like. Especially adding the echo to a steamer that’s pulling a heavy drag, coupled with the DDe they have just makes it all the better to hear the bark and echo like it’s rolling through a valley.

@james noecker There has been much discussion in the NMRA because of this limitations they employ to prevent use of other brands. There is a lot going on behind the scenes, since they are not following the spirit of the standards.. This is done so the people will accept the lesser decoders they choose, which are built in china. Unfortunately, to get the SoundTraxx Tsunami2 you have to do a board swap. And I agree. A pain to do, but when I get asked why it sounds so good and works so well, it usually gets the rewards when I can tell them its not the sound they come with.. Thank you for watching, Thank you for your support! ~G

I have done this install before. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QSY9BDf7XUU.html On this install, i used a Nix Decoder Buddy and a 21PNME8 Tsunami2. The purpose of this video was to show how I added the extra lights for the step lights and the Blue Flag on the dash of the cab. (This light is a carry flashing light to indicate persons working on the loco. I have seen it in 2 places, on the dash, or hung on the front of the loco. Since this hides the unlit LED better, I chose to put it in the cab.) I hope this helps explain this further.. Thank you for watching! ~G
