Thank you so much. I was really frustrated as I'm a casual gamer and novice to trains. I'm really getting into the trains though. I was really getting frustrated driving these trains manually knowing there was a sophisticated system designed. I took all the tutorials and watched a few videos. But I finally got to the right video , - this one and the safety systems make sense now. You do a wonderfully job of explaining. You can also feel your passion for the trains in your voice. Thanks again. I will be checking out more of your videos to see what else I can learn/ enjoy !
This was great thank you for doing this! One thing: the 'G' light means (if AFB is off) driver needs to brake. If AFB is on, it means brakes are being applied. Not necessarily that the train will stop.
Here I am getting type rated on Concodes, Skymasters, A310s/320s/321s, Boeing 7 series and Antonovs 1 month doing everything from radio nav to ILS landings and IFR flight planning...now I got into the Train Simulating World thanks to Xbox Gamepass having it- once I started- I bought disc, and downloaded Amtrack Accela, the Harlem Line going to Yankees, and few others! So glad I got into these simulators, never knew how intricate and complex they would be- and I love complicated and powerful systems and engineering!
How do we reset the train if we fail to acknowledge the 1000/500hz magnets? I’ve resetted the PZB and emergency brakes after the train comes to a complete stop but there seems to be no power when I use the throttle
@@trainsimulatordriver Nope no red box. I’ll explain a bit more. I tried ignoring the pzb acknowledge after the 60kmph signal on the approach the wurzburg to work out the procedure to reset it. The train came to an emergency stop and then I pressed the PZB release and acknowledge buttons, making the blue marker alternate between 70 and 85 and the yellow marker with a “1000hz” come up. Then I resetted the brake pipe using the HLL Fill, released the train brakes and used the throttle. At this point, the box with the throttle number was white, but even with a 10 on the throttle, the kN on the left of the HUD remained at 0 the entire time. Not sure if you get the picture, but yeah still struggling to get the power back on. 😅
When i turn on the safety system’s, it can sometimes say Ü, and i understand what that means. But sometimes it instead says like 70 or 80 (in the little circles down in the corner). Do you know what this means?
That is letting you know the speed range you can travel at. for 70 VMAX=120km/h if you have a 1000Hz magnet you have 29s to get to 70km/h, if you have 500Hz you need to drop to 35km/h.
Heyo, problem with LZB. When I turn it off after I move the train, and try to turn it on again, I can't get it to work. Only the B light turns on but non of the speed control activates. Any help?
Someone else mentioned an issue with lzb recently appearing on this train. I've asked if I get anything useful I'll be able to answer. I found lzb didn't work at all for me on this one.
Fantastic video. This helped a lot!! Thank you!! What are the override and release levers for? Also do the other screen options for the ICE trains matter in TSW3?
When you first start, or you've been stopped you will be in PZB monitoring restricted to 45kmh. Release removes the restriction so you can go faster. Only do it if the next signal is green.
Hi. Whats the longest route in this game. Where I could just start driving and enjoy my beers and scenery for a while? Any advice on what kind of dlc I should get. I have deluxe version but never got my hands on cus I work at seas until march
longest distance is Bremen-Oldenburg but at nearly 300km/h its over in a flash - for truly long play I would be going for the American freight routes like Cajon Pass, Clinchfield, Sherman Hill, Horseshoe Curve or Sand Patch Grade
On a passenger train the T light represents the door interlock. If I remember rightly lit means they're open. You'll see it on freight locos that can do passenger duty.
Could you tell me how I can turn on the headlights? I can find the switch on the middle of the console and I turn it to Headlights bright (reverser is set to forward too) but the lights at the front of the train are still red.
can u help i had trouble with this one i applyed the brake & ran it up to emergency when the train stopped i released the brake but i couldnt move the train the brake was stuck on 4.8 & couldnt release it
Thanks for the great video! I interpreted the symbols wrong, and now my ICE is blaring an alarm and not moving. I've tried all the buttons and looked in the side panel on the right too, but nothing makes it stop bleeping at me and it's maddening after 20 minutes! I saw in your video you can stand up, so I will try looking behind my chair tomorrow...
Sounds like you've had a penalty stop. Throttle to off, apply train brake. Press PZB acknowledge then PZB release. That should stop the alarm and you should be able to release the brake and throttle up again.
I've tried for another 20 minutes; When I loaded in I was in the same spot, but the constant alarm had ceased! I tried what you said 3 times, but it didn't help: the red box that blocks driving didn't dissapear. I looked around online some more, didn't help. When I turned the Reverser off and on it said something about Storung twice and something was Gesperrt, so malfunctions and blockages.... This is the mission where you get an error, but after nearly an hour troubleshooting I am now giving up, losing yet another 45 minutes of progress
@@trainsimulatordriver No, I think I tripped a magnet or something (because I thought the blue blinking 85 meant I had to stay ABOVE 85 instead of below). I was playing the mission from the start when the whole alarm situation happened and after trying for 20+ minutes I saved the game and quit for the day. Today when I loaded back in for the first time, the alarm was thankfully silent.
i may be a little late but right when i was about to park the stupid lzb screamed at be and i tried lzb acknoledge but it doses nothing and even when i have the battery off it still makes the annoying sound and hll fill doesnt work
When you get to the end it's not an ack you want, when the ENDE light flashes and you hear the sound you need to press the End key on keyboard or your requirement on controller. This is the release key otherwise it will stop your train.
When you are just starting out don't turn on the safety systems - leave them off while you're learning. As you become proficient with the train turn on SIFA first and learn to handle that, then try PZB and finally LZB. SIFA makes sure you're awake periodically and you acknowledge it, if you don't it will stop you. PZB enforces the signaling requirements and you have to acknowledge. LZB is cruise control, sit back and relax and let the train do the work.
Hi, I have driven this route several times now and I always get it wrong when switching from PZB to LZB and the train stops and I can't get it going again, could you do a more detailed breakdown of what you need to do to achieve this, saying you need to acknowledge the ENDE is fine if you know how to acknowledge it, I have searched RU-vid for a more detailed explanation but everyone assumes that we are all as experienced with the terminology and procedures as them, I have found your video very helpful thank you but I get to 1.4km from the end and I can't get any further, does it have anything to do with the magnet? your help would be very much appreciated.
Are you using a keyboard? It's the END key (PZB Frei). If you're on controller its the same button you use to acknowledge all alerts. When the ENDE light starts flashing press END and it will stop flashing. When you hear the beep its back in your hands and you have to obey the PZB limits. You might find it easier while you learn to use one system at a time. Use LZB and once you're used to it turn on PZB.
@@patrickg.7641 the Raildriver also has buttons for PZB but they're inconsistent from train to train. They're getting better but that work is unfinished
What is the meaning of 500 and 1000 magnets - mentioned in passing during the video- is there a practical difference? Why not just say there is a magnet?
Oh that's a complex question, the simplest answer I can give is that they have different restrictions. Here's a good overview that goes into more detail and has a handy chart you can download ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zN6Hbtb9Qw4.html the tutorial is for TS but the concepts are the same.
I wish there was a way to "recover" from a missed PZB acknowledge without coming to a full stop. Half the time I get a missed acknowledge braking there wasn't a signal or speed reduction to acknowledge.
It also happens when you're speeding 🙂. Turn on the PZB helper in the HUD section of options and it will sit on the top right telling you when you need to acknowledge and showing how much time you've got to reduce speed. Note speeding is an instant penalty.
@@trainsimulatordriver I have that on. I already do understand the system pretty well but it just seems like the sim randomly throws acknowledges at you. Those Germans really want their trains to be safe!
@@nuothe11th there certainly are times when it feels that way! usually when it happens and I don't know why and I'm feeling curious, after it stops I jump out and go have a look and I always find the culprit magnet next to a sign or signal I had either ignored or not reacted to fast enough
When I play German routes, the timetable says that i am going from for example Hamburg Altona to Berlin but when i spawn, i’m not in Hamburg Altona, im in some other random station, and when I come to the last station im not in Berlin, im in some weird station. Why is the timetable lying to me? Do you know why this is happening?
The time table runs often start and finish off route because that's where the trains go in real life. You spawn into the first station that's actually part of the route and your run finishes on the last station actually on the route in game. Look at the route map to see the boundaries. It's not lying to you it's just representing the full world in a limited way that works for the game. It's not possible to model the full world in any meaningful enjoyable way.
I really don't get where i'm going wrong. It says end, I press end, it stops flashing just like in the video. It says acknowledge, I press acknowledge within 3 seconds, and then it slams on the emergency brake every single time, I do not understand. It didn't happen in your video. An S pops up on the screen, what am I doing wrong here?
This is not working when I set up the cab properly, it seems as this is yet another DB unit/loco that is no longer working. I tried looking for advanced information to what the fault finding is but no technical information exists for any rolling stock in Germany.
@@bethhughes559 On PC, it will not run on it's own route as the LZB is broken. If the HLL fill button works which most of the time it does not, then there is no power whatsoever despite being on and cooling fans running, just like the BR187 and BR103.
Reverse of setting up, throttle to idle, park brake on, train and direct brake released, reverser to off and remove, headlights to off, master light to off get it and do the reverse at the other end
acknowledge simply lets the system know you saw and will act on the signal, release is used when you're in monitoring (the flashing 75/80 or 40/80) and you can see the next signal is green - it releases you from the 45km/h restriction. Some trains also use release if you get a penalty brake to reset so you can drive again
yep that is correct, SIFA basically makes sure you're alive and awake. In most other places its usually referred to as Vigilance (most of the world) or Alerter (USA).
I know this is an old video but in TSW4 i try to activate LZB and when i move forward about maybe 40 meters i get a warning audible and the train just stops. i don't see the SIFA stuff coming on either
What train and route? LZB needs to be supported by the route. Look for a wire down the centre of the track. LZB will also need AFB turned on (I think, not 100% sure on the ice 1 - it's been a while lol). These systems definitely work on this train.
@@trainsimulatordriver Fair enough it's on the new route and now it makes sense that it doesn't have LZB, i think i might know what's going on because it says safe to release restricted on my screen, i go for a bit then it stops me.
@@Cessna152ful sounds like you've got PZB turned on, you're in monitoring (restricted to 45kph) and are exceeding 45. You can either release PZB or you can stay under 45 until the indicator lights stop flashing.
It's likely you have a traction lock. The ICE1 can be difficult to drive. On the HUD there's a square box which has numbers in it that change as you move the throttle. Is the outline of that box red or white?
@@trainsimulatordriver hello. apparently something with the game. today I already went. but it doesn’t load well. the game commands freeze (like yesterday). so I couldn’t move.thanks for the fast reply
I've got a new issue, when driving the BR 403 I am paying attention and using the AFB. Then I need to slow down, I break in time and never break the speed limit, but: the red box appears and nothing I do increases speed anymore. In other words: I need to come to a full stop before I am allowed to increase speed again. This keeps happening on ICEs, and I just don't understand why! Breaking too hard? I try to avoid that...
@@trainsimulatordriver Thanks for answering once again! No, Sifa is turned off and no yellow ! popped up either. I think I braked too hard or something to slow down. I tried pushing the parking brake after being stopped for awhile, but that wasn't it either... I can make the red box appear and dissapear, but it has no effect on not moving forwards anymore. Do I need to pump the breaks up again? I don't see any controls for that in this model though :'(
@@trainsimulatordriver This definitely happened to me a few times in the beginning! So now I am extra carefull to not go above 6 or 7. Yesterday it seemed to happen even at just brake 1 or 2, meaning the red box appeared. I think this means the train will throw up the red box when AFS is giving gas and I break slightly. But that's a different issue, because if I put throttle to zero the red box dissapears - as I think is logical- and I can keep going. Sometimes the train does die permanently though, and its making me paranoid.
When you first leave the station you often get a safe to release, but you can see the signal ahead isn't green. Don't release! There are other reasons you could be stopped such as going to fast. In the ICE1 for example if you have LZB turned on it can run at line speed, but if you try it manually you will be held to a lower speed (160 from memory I think) so you can stop in time for an adverse signal. You might also be getting stopped by sifa, I suggest turning on one safety system at a time while you learn.
Assuming operational shift is like Xbox you'll need to press and hold L1 then the other key, let me know if that works, if it doesn't I'll hunt down an answer
@@trainsimulatordriver thank you I took a peak into the control settings and it does show that L1 should be the operational shift but when I press it in the train it decreases the brake for example when I press it in the ice 3 it just says train brake bypass and when I combine L1 with another key nothing happens it only says train brake bypass
@@Quichenic I've just finished the war with my old PS4 and reset it and it's now downloading the game... Four hours apparently lol. PSN is soooooooo slow
And the answer is " in German it says Zugbeeinflussung, english would be something like Train influencing but the term "influence" is quite inprecise I think "Train Interaction" would fit better as translation" thanks to Sebastian for the answer 😃
