really love seeing these budget manual focus lens come. the idea to maybe have one AF fuji gfx lens, then get cheaper manual lens in other focal range that mightnot be used as much

Great option for those who don't have the GF 80 1.7 or 110 f2... I believe it's the same formula as the Mitakon 85 but with a slightly diff adapter built in. If you can live with heavy vignette in the corners wide open and don't mind cropping a little, it's a banger that really shows off the MF sensor advantages

Looks like a beauty. I hope they will make a really good wide lens for GFX, like an 18mm, reasonably fast, but thats not too much of a big deal for wideangles. I’m very old school, and love manual focus, could never see the point of AF, except for sport and wildlife.

The mounting point is only on the fullframe models, because they are afraid the mount cant handle the weight. It seems to be no concern on a g-mount, so they didnt include it. If you are used to manual focus, the lens will be fine. Focusthrow is good in my opinion. Not too long not too short. Vignetting is also very visible, in some cases its more "character" than u would like. For me it is a good choice for black and white but not really for colour photography. It lacks the gorgeous rendition and colours I get for example von a Mitakon 35mm F0.95 on a Fuji APS-C. Its a good value lens but not a must buy like the Mitakon 35mm F0.95 on Fuji APS-C. I also own the Mitakon 65mm F1.4 for GFX and if you are looking for the manual experience and search for a fast lens, I would recommend this instead.I found myself grabbing the Mitakon vs the Artisan 8 out of 10 times so far..

Thanks for this review Damian! Your sample images look like this lens produces visible image compression typical for low tele end. But! As this is actually an FF lens factory adapted for the GFX system, do we recalc its FD using 0.79 crop factor? In other words, is it more like 71mm on a GFX sensor?

Lenses don't compress perspective, that's a myth. The compression is caused by camera to subject distance. Obviously the longer the focal length the less likely it is to have something in the frame that is a lot closer than the background. The "compression" comes from having everything in the frame far away. Wide angles are the opposite. Everything is small, so you naturally move close to the foreground making it much bigger than the background. It's getting close that makes the foreground bigger, not the focal length.

For me, I so rarely use a portrait lens (just my wife and daughters mainly)... this lens at $225 used is well worth it. It's a beast, but gorgeous bokeh. Not something I'd carry around the zoo all day ;-)

What a honker! 😄 I'm not well heeled enough to have experienced Fuji medium format. Is the EVF large enough to manually focus at such narrow apertures? Or did you use the 'magnified focus assistance' feature? (can't remember the name of that feature at the mo)

I find this lens really interesting at about 400 Euro, but for some reason, the L-mount version is 400 Euro in Germany, but the GFX mount version is 600 Euro. Why the bloody hell...? At that price I think I prefer other options.

@@miam1074 If there is one, I have yet to see it. Fuji makes 90mm f/2, but that's far from f/1.2. And TTArtisans make this 90mm for Canon RF, Fujifilm GFX, Hasselblad X1D, Leica L, Nikon Z and Sony E, but no Fuji X mount.
