Folks, I was visiting London, and thanks to my iPhone 4 - I was able to be my own camera man, which helped me get some on-location footage of London's biggest guitar strip - Denmark Street - which is located right between Soho & Covent Gardens (by Leicester Square).
You'll see coverage of the following music stores : Music Ground, Macari's, Regent Sound, Supreme Courts of Rock n Roll, Hanks, Wunjo Guitars, Chris Bryant's Musical Instruments, Rose Morris and Vintage & Rare Guitar Store.

I'm just pleased that these shops are managing to survive. So many have closed in the last decade. Denmark St is heaven for guitarists.

Music ground was my favorite last time I was there, I was digging up gold in parts in their basement. And found heaven on earth in the attic.

All due for destruction now in favour of a soulless corporate development focused on "gigantic advertising screens": the music shops on the north side (much of it dating from the 17th century) are facing closure, and those opposite aren't likely to keep their premises as big business moves in. The 12-Bar Club (0:46), until three weeks ago one of London's most respected music venues and boasting a rare 400-year-old forge, has already been shut down for demolition, but is presently occupied by campaigners against the scheme. So visit quick and support the locals, otherwise there won't be much left in a few months.

guitars are just bits of wood metal n plastic!....its all about you and your talent...expensive guitars/basses are completely over rated....if you cant play,you cant play,an expensive guitar wont make you play any better at all,it may improve your tone with a good amp but its still down to you!!

I love your channel and appreciate what you were trying to do with your video of Denmark Street, but if I were you - in the light of what has happened since in the UK - I'd edit out the segment including Music Ground. Those running the store were convicted in 2012 of selling stolen goods... not just selling but taking stolen guitars, dismembering them and then put/shutting them to create Frankenstein guitars to dupe buyers. Denmark Street is now a shadow of its former self...

I thought I had checked out your back catalogue of videos but I must have missed this one. Got to ask, did you buy anything and ship it back? I went to Denmark St when I was a kid but not recently even though I’m only 20 miles from London, it’s just to dam busy for me.

In the 70's fave thing for store assistants was to stick a 'wanker ' or ' kick me' sign on the back on any unsuspecting American gui-tourists who then walked up & down Oxford st before realizing it , so be thankful you visited in more forgiving times ! Most of the greats back then like Page , Green , Clapton etc were customers of "Top Gear" which became Roka's then Rockers. The rest , Orange, Rose Music , Macaris etc were for kids & tire kickers.

Denmark street is fucking awsome! i go ones in the 2 years specialy to london for denmarkstreet :D i really love it there :) its a pitty you didnt showed the people the bass cellar :O some of the people where not so nice to me 4 years ago but its a great shop :D next year i will by my Warwick there :) There are much more cool guitar shops in the rest of london :) i hope you have seen that 2:) it was fun to see you in denmark street :) thumbs up for the tone king!

When you went upstairs those White guitars looked like old Ovations? It looks like there is not much room to walk around it's so jammed full of equipment. Those Squires are the ones people collect. I wonde if you were close to Andertons. It would have been cool if you had a store employee record you playing the Tone King signature riff with one of those old relic guitars. You are one Blessed person to be able to travel like that. So, how many guitars did you get while over there? LOL

The United States used to be like this....before the big box retailers sucked the life out of small shops. There's a few notable remaining but try to find a street with this many guitar shops so centrally located like this street these and you'd be hard pressed. I used to spend weekends hitting pawn shops four or five-state swings but eBay killed that gig as well.

was it just me or did it seem strange that nobody was actually rocking out on some of the gear in those stores. company policy> no you cant play these guitars you can only buy them? And also i agree with the request for a demo of some more of the BlackStar Amps! those are great amps for the dough.

i'm curious how did the shops compare to the u.s pawn shops for price,if you are in the u.k an american made guitar just adds at least a couple of hundred pounds to the price.I would love to go to the las vegas pawn shops to pick up a real gem

When I was in London, I didn't get the chance to check out Denmark St. :( But thanks to you TTK, I get to see it all! Just something I noticed though... ya need to open your mouth when you speak, otherwise you mumble and no one can understand ya!

dude you you need to read up a little more, also its pronounced m'-carr-ees, i bought my epiphone there and also you should have looked more into chris bryant's, its really worth it I've bought three guitars from that store.

LOOOL. The Jackson DK2S I bought is ACTUALLY in this video. look at the DK2S in transparent black at 18:04. The exact same guitar I'm holding now! I bought it a month after TTK posted this video xD

This shop is brilliant. I bought my jackson DK2S here. I'm a regular here and the guys who work here are brilliant. Very friendly and sell a range of guitars, amps and your guitar accessories.

How do the prices compare in these shops to how they are here in the U.S? Especial guitars that are built here (U.S.) and them imported. Are they cheaper, more expensive or about the same?

Exercise caution if you are shopping there. You may find this interesting; Google "Musicground fakes" and read the thread. Better shops exist elsewhere.

I was 15 at the time.....walked into wunjos and they literally offered that i play a 1962 Gibson SG Junior......£2600!!!! Love that shop :')

Fender Squier Katana was only made in Japan, and released very sparingly stateside. It is super rare. I'm surprised you hadn't heard of it, TTK.

I've been to all of these guitar stores and I'm so disappointed in them. UK's best are Guitar Village - World Guitars - Possibly Guitar Junction

Denmark St is being murdered by Development. 8 shops remain only with all business above below and behind demolished. Expect a Mall, Hotels, Flats, Restaurants and Bars. Bye bye Bohemia. Welcome a veneer of window dressing masquerading as music biz. More here

When I was little, I was obsessed with denmark street. I used to get my dad,mum, uncle, or whoever, to take me to tottenham court rd station, then a gentle walk up, just to look in the shop windows, maybe have a look in the shops. I spent hours there. That street means alot to me. Cheerz for posting

You forgot the (mostly) used Gibson's store around the corner on Cambridge Circus.....I just visited the place to look after high end Les paul's Fenders etc.But no quality guitars in Denmark Street to my surprise,so I wonder-where does the collectors and pro musicians go to look after over 2000 pounds guitars ?
