As a scientist, I worked in many places, all around the world. I spent 1.5 year as a postdoc at TU Delft. Best Bosses I have ever had, the kindest administration and reasonable work-to-life ratio. Frankly speaking I hated weather only ;) currently publishing and writing ERC/EIC proposals with people I have met at TU Delft! Lifelong friendships!
Delft city is very small, it does not have the capacity for that many students! Extremely hard to find an apartment to live! And no meaningful support from the university!
Well if you apply for an apartment literally a month and a half before the study period starts then yeah.. you won't find anything xD The university is one of the few that offers a housing portal so it's easier to find accommodation but I guess you haven't checked at all. The university also replies in at least 3 days soo... I don't see any of your points coming up.
I do not think that you can find something even if you apply a few months in advance. I have applied and I saw how it worked out! DUWO which is the supporting organization provides printed list of the websites which I can search in! Otherwise I had to go there everyday personally to check if there is any new possibility or not; and this is something that I call "not a meaningful help". I know the websites myself!
Delft has not adequate number of apartments. I think everybody who has lived in Delft for a month or two knows this. If you look for an apartment and you need it you feel this lack of apartments!
If you knew how those managers up there treated their students behind doors in closed rooms, you will not only be surprised but also think not twice but thrice to come to Delft here.
I started studying in 2020 during corona measures (which allowed us only one day on-campus per week in the 1st-year), so I always thought that there used to be much more crowd before corona...but after looking at this video, it doesn't seem like it was that crowded either even before covid (but in either case, the first week of each quarter is always a bit crowded)
Step One: Very kindly return to your original residence from yonder if you follow a Bachelor's programme. Changing them to 100 per cent English instruction has proven disastrous for the capacity of these studies, forcing Dutch students to study Computer Science elsewhere, for example. Thank you.
Please! The locals can't find homes because of all the students. The TU let more students in then Delft can handle! Again it's all about the money for the universities
