Those who follow this channel already know how much I adore minimal arrangements, and shy away from pompous orchestrations in medieval music. This record, entirely played, produced and made by the phenomenal Danish musician Poul Høxbro, is one of my favorites of my collection.
It was released in 1999, but I have a wonderful version included in a 4-disc box set made with singer Agnethe Christensen, who together with Poul Høxbro give life to the "Ensemble Alba". This is the first disc of the collection: entirely instrumental, it contains some of the most famous melodies of the European Middle Ages. Soon I will share the others cds with you too, where the voice of Agnethe Christensen will also be present.
