Hi. Just picked up a shap 25 with 1.3 ohm and 8.1 ohm readings. Are all your tube swaps still going strong? The original Zenith tube in my big red k7000 chassis has reading of 1.3 and 10.2 so a bit higher on one. Heard that lower or higher ratings can under or over drive circuits on the chassis.
Have you tried this on a 19 inch K7000 Chassis? I'm getting ready to do one, but wondering if I have to swap to a different width cap just like you did with the 25 inch or would it be fine staying with the original cap? If I would need to change the width cap on a 19 inch K7000 as well what value should I use? Same value as the 25 inch you use or different? I have lots of brand new width caps here just need to know this. Thanks in advance.
I'm very interested in this project. I'm thinking of trying this out actually. I'm just looking for the "25 K7000 monitor to try this with. I see that same sharp TV a lot of places so its gonna be easy to acquire it.
Do you know if the sharp 25" is a swap for the K7500 series? I did this on my neo geo with a different 25" sharp on a k7000 chassis in my neo geo but i now have a k7500 in a Cruis'n World arcade that uses the same CR-23 tube socket. Do you know if it should work?
Johnnie Tam The yoke ohms are pretty close to the ohms of these sharps hes using though. The chassis i believe is what designates the resolution. Hell even the stock tube number is close to what hes using. My Red/Blue is 1.1 and my Yellow/Green is 5.1
Thanks for th video. I need to take on this project with a T2 cabinet I just bought at an auction. One question: You said that the width cap was 47UF @ 400V. I went to Bob Robert's page, but all his width caps are either 250V or 630V. Do I just use th higher rated 630V Cap, or do I have to get one that is specifically 400V?
Hey, which motherboard should I get for my tube? I have A51ACG34X CR23 neck (orange yellow 12,2 and Blue, red 2,7) i have to use it as an arcade monitor and display RGB.
Prairiedillo I believe you, but since I’m researching videos about crt monitors to be able to convert a old tv to and arcade monitor, this why I fond yours. And I thought I could find some extra help. I’m a beginner of course, but if I have a goal to learn more and build something, I think I shouldn’t stop here. But thanks for the correction. Also I’m not in the rush, and safely I want to make what I’m doing. Cheers man!
Hi Very informative Video Just one question Is it really necessary to change the width cap?? tweaking with width coil can do? can you give some info in what type to buy for wg k7000 thanks
Question to anyone having done this : When testing the resistance between the horizontal cables on the yoke and then the vertical ones, my meter values fluctuate slightly before reading a steady 0 (zero), no matter which yoke I test. My meter is not auto-ranging, but I doubt that this would be the cause. Anyone else have this happen?
I dont exactly recall off hand which one the D9800 was but it might be the medium resolution tube and you are pretty screwed with matching tubes to that... Do some research regarding "tube swap WG D9800"
it will prob work, crack open the case and compare the tube serial number to the ones I showed in the video... if it sounds close I bet it'll work. Check the resistance between colors on the joke.
I have a tripod see other videos. I did not use it so I could actually move around to really SHOW you what i'm talking about cause monitors are to heavy to move around.
Not a good idea on your part. See other RU-vid videos where they show close up details without the hand held jerky camera movement. There was no reason to "move around" Almost unwatchable.
*WARNING* *To people reading the comments, please read* CRT monitors are very dangerous, even for the most experienced. You are responsible for everything, including the following: results, voltage shocks, etc. Do not do alone! They contain the most lethal voltages and currents on this planet
