Bro, you should use a Plugin Doctor or any analyzer of the plugins where you can see the curves+ added harmonics. There is no magic in this plugin. Its very simple and basic
@@robertwainscott9437 Dear Robert, I am sorry if it sounded offending or misjudging. I am not a software engineer but I am a music producer. I try to get as deep as I can into all the "under the hood" algo+coding. Maybe I am missing something about this plugin. I am not an all-mighty all-knowledgeable person. This was my humble personal opinion!
I've already got the HG2 which is great and wasn't going to bother with the upgrade to the HG-2MS, but now I am.. we can thank Dom's facial expressions of awe and wonder every time he fiddled with his Black Box.. not to mention the massive discount Plugin Alliance gives existing HG2 owners! Thank you both! 🙌🔥🎶
I was not even familiar with the hardware Black Box, which is surprising in a 45 year career in a market that exposes me to very high end gear. At any rate, you’ve done a great job selling me on the plug. I’m a big fan of saturation and have never found a sufficiently surgical tool to use it in mastering. Thanks, Dom.
U nailed my thoughts EXACTLY! Every single word, bro! That's why I skim the comments, cause somebody is gonna say my thoughts BETTER THAN ME! Well done, bro
I am so grateful for all your help! You do all this from the kindness of your heart. Thank you so much. Your work will continue to live on and cause us to fall in love with audio engineering and recording over and over again. HAPPY NEW YEAR from Minnesota!!!
Plugin Alliance for the win. Their mega subscription is the only subscription model that is good. Great plugins and great value. I also love how the owner, Dirk, actively engages with his customers. PA is great!
Dirk owns and works for Brainworx, Germany. Plugin Alliance is a Silicon Valley based software distributor. They sell many plugins from different folks. And this plugin is by black box , a company Eric Racy is affiliated with...
Just tried it, love it and bought it! Now I have 3 go-to plugins I use on almost every production- Izotope Ozone, Eventide Quadrovox and now Black Box HG-2MS. Thanks for the intro!
Your demo shows musical intelligence. You're using the plugin to achieve very positive results. I also enjoy your enthusiasm. Very effective demo. It really shows what the Black Box can do.
That is some golden natural saturation. That is a must for me. I have the HG2 plugin and this is next level. Was just thinking about MS / Saturation as well. Cheers
I've been working with this plugin for a while and loving it, but the information in your video even showed me more possibilities of taking advantage of it's capabilities... Thank you so much!
i worked with this plugin 5 minutes ago and I say thank you! it reaches my mixing. your recommendations are always good, the same with the tc md4 thank you!
I'm drooling; I've been wanting this since I saw it two days ago! I think I would always have everything cranked up, 100% mix just because it sounds so sweet. I would probably never get anything done just listening to it soloed, listening to the harmonics. Thanks for the video analysis!
Was Soooooo excited just like you to check this out Dom... But can't be more sure of anything other than your opinion on a plugin... Lovely review Dom... Please keep up the new series rolling out along with your 1 minute episodes as well... Love your reviews man !!! Cheers & God bless.... 👍👍🎉🎉🎉🎉🎆👊
beside the plugin it is so great to see how much fun you have :-) . i also already loved the old version (by the way the "parallel" feature is not new). the new version is so much more flexible. thanks again for a great video, i really enjoy it.
Grabbed the plugin for a more than 50% discount on Plugin Alliance in an instant even before i saw this review. I was already familiar to it since your comparison of hard- and software versions. Thanks Dom!
Hi Dom. Greetings from Marbella, Spain. I've been following your channel for a few months now, and I'm just diving into the wonderful world of production just a little bit. I am impressed with this amazing plugin, its power and its versatility. Thank you for sharing your experience, your knowledge and, ultimately, your music. Long live the music.
I ABSOLUTELY "NEVER" !!!!!! EVER Comment,... But,....I gotta do it: That Was Simply BIG Fun - A Real Ride! Thank you so very much Dom for such an absolutely enjoyable review. I stopped the video just long enough to go grab it! Because I really also feel entitled to Have That Degree of Really GIG Fun! Thank Dom, Much Appreciated - Rock On! :-)
Dom! you definitively lured me into Cubase and it is the best DAW by far, also the NOB and other plugins, if I recall the Platform M+ time ago. All your recomendations have given me great advantages...... Now I will have to buy this BlackBox. This are your sales, if you can, send an affiliate link.
Love Plug-in Alliance, they constantly offer me amazing deals! I think leasing their big setup with all the plug-ins for $24.99/mo USD is a pretty decent deal and a great way to find those gems. They offer a $249 voucher to spend on any plug in you want after that year is up. Cant get that anywhere else and no, they don't offer me anything to sing their praise either. But constant 80% off a specific plug in at least once a week seems pretty sweet too. I'd like to see that AMEK console they released recently reviewed, sorry if you already have and I missed it, I haven't checked yet. This would pair nicely with the Tegler Audio Cream with a Neve 5057 summing mixer for a huge fat sound. After hearing it the lyrics " so wide you can't get around it, so low you can't get under it, So high you can't get over it, this is a chance!" Undeniable big fat deep sound. Thank you for this review, it's something I was looking at and just missed the 29.99 offer! Next time.
Brainworks are very sneaky! I've purchased several of their plugins in the past and always at checkout they ask you to sign up for their newsletter, where you get offers and deals emailed to you. Normally I just skip the newsletter but I'm so glad I didn't with my last Brainworks plugin purchase. This $345 plugin went on an 8hr or maybe 12hr FLASH SALE for $24!!! I had to check the email several times to make sure it wasn't a scam lol... but I picked this sucker up for the LOW LOW LOW price of $24!!! I just checked the website and it's gone back up to FULL price just that fast. 😲
This comment is not about this video but dude I just heard Behind the Wall and those Synths were absolute stunning, awesome song and I also hope to listen more Synths yeah.
Hi Dom. Will you still be using your hardware HG2 for mastering or will the HG2ms plug in be taking its place? I'm curious to know where the hardware fits in now that you have this new version of the plug in with its extra features.
I skimmed a lot of these comments, and could only find TWO negs... and one of them was about the upgrade not being FREE! The "non musical" post feels subjective, because even on RU-vid, I could hear the subtle, yet IMPACTFUL difference that it could make on MY mixes. MY stuff needs what Dom just did to that Pop song, but ESPECIALLY, the Rock joint. I'm sure there are a million ways to skin a cat. Crazy Master Bus chains, etc. For MY STUFF, this plug in will be Skinning Cats like HOTCAKES!!! And working quickly is the game. DAMMIT DOM!!! $350 is gonna fly outta my dang wallet!!
I recommend the monthly subscription with the complete plugins (29$ / 25€) from Plugin Alliance. BTW, I know Dirk Ulrich personally. 20 Years ago he took over my complete studio with a 24Track-Inliner in Cologne Germany and I showed him how to use compression on a track. :-) For me the subscription is the best 25€ I invest every month. After 20 Years Dirk Ulrich is already a global player and I, I have to watch Dom Sigalas vids. :-)
Thank you so much for this great and detailed video. Your review of the HG2 already made me discover and use this plugin since then. I was not less also excited than you are about the new version when testing it on the day of release. You mention that you use HG2-MS in your master bus - when adjusting the kick in the saturation section with the filter - do you take the boosting of this frequency range in account when EQ-ing in the master bus?
Aaah good question- there is no real rule but I like a lot what the HG-2MS does to the kick drum. Most of the times, this might completely substitute an eq for the low end. it depends on the colour that you want to give ;)
@DOM Sigalas - would you do a video with an oversampled BBHG 2(MS) plugin? With the metaplugin by DDMF you can easily load the plugin within it, with the project on 96k and metaplugin at 8x oversampling realtime. And the piercing high end (relatively speaking) is even lowered when doing it. Which to me would mean it becomes even closer to the hardware unit. Apparantly the plugin doesnt oversample internally. Would really love to see the results if you'd like to try it out. *Subbed . And dude, that response by Robert! very exciting!
@@ericracy4724 interesting.. would depend I guess how much X is applied. Plugin doctor did show some artefacts around -70db which is too close for comfort for me :p. Oversampling even more did alleviate that.
sorry youtube-video cant reproduce that great black-box sound - not even with 4k video-setting and high quality headphones - youtube-sound is limited to 128 max. 160kbit mp3 quality :( but love your videos - thank you :)
Dom, do you use acustica audio plugins? I think crimson is one of the best saturators out there. Would love to know how you think it compares to the black box
Cheers Dom, having both of these plugins, would you say the "old" Blackbox becomes obsolete? Or are there cases where you would use it over the new version? Cheers and thanks for your great content! :)
Personally it's going to be HG-2MS for me from now on for sure. :) There is no real reason to use the HG-2 unless you need the smaller GUI for some reason :)
Great video. This plugin is on sale today and the sale ends soon. Trying to decide if I should pull the trigger? I have all rock mixes but what happens when you use the side for guitars but background vocals are parked there as well? Wouldn't that make it hard to find a happy medium? Thanks
@@DomSigalas Thanks, Dom.I was considering this for mastering but I heard this adds +1 to 2dBs by default and cannot be lowered? Is that true? Thank you 🙏
I try to hear what Dom hears even with headphones on, but I don't think i get exactly what you get Dom...I suspect the video audio is limiting the range of what you get... would be good to somehow get a visual representation of all the freqences and compare with and without...
Very different things- one is solid state the other one is tube. The Black Box is irreplaceable for me- love the way it saturates. Adds perceived loudness and can be subtle or extreme!
hello dom ! can i ask a question ? does cubase pro 11 do the same function of melodyne 5 editor in changing audio samples according to the chord track perfectly!
@@mamutjo here you go : Create Vocal Harmonies Like a PRO in Cubase (from a single vocal) #cubase #vocalharmonies #variaudio m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N0UOjmwOWAQ.html
Hmmm no. If you watch the whole video you will see how you can have drastic effects on the sound if you push it. I also show this on my hardware vs software video ;)
