Creator Lisa Hanawalt just tweeted: Tuca & Bertie is not a spin-off, nor in the same universe as BoJack... but it's similar in some ways! And very different in others! 🐦🐤🐧🐔🐥
It definitely looks less cynical than Bojack, which is great because even for a black comedy, I find it way too bitter sometimes. I also expect/hope it won't have any of Bojack's lowkey sex negativity or mansplain-y male-guilt version of feminism.
I loved the show! As a man it was refreshing to see the world through women's eyes, thank you for that! And the art was great as well :-D Can't wait for season 2!
Regular Show is a celebration of male friendship and/or moral integrity. Tuca and Bertie is a celebration of female friendship and/or self-acceptance. Both of them are absolute favorites of mine.
I love both shows. BoJack Horseman shows the other side of fame, friendship, alcohol and drugs. It also explains loneliness in a way that most people can't even put into words. Tuca and Bertie explore topics about women that most of us have experienced in one way or another. They present it in such a creative and comedic way. Hats off to Lisa!
These two are like the female versions of Key and Peele!! Also, hooray! We got General Olivia and Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi in the same room!! We need more LEGO Movie voice actors here!!
This is actually really cool. It's like if they rewrote parts of Bojack to have only the reality/comedy stuff instead of the reality/tragedy stuff. Like, the reality element is still there, and once again, it's crushingly obvious that these are human struggles that a ton of people find deeply relatable despite the fact that they are birds. But this time, it's less about the character's struggles personally and interpersonally and moreso just about their antics. It's actually a really cool idea.
Isn't that the voice of Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi from The Lego Movie 2 as the Toucan? Also, I was not expecting that there would be *nudity* in this show [3:01].
This show is hands-down my favorite work of fiction. Seriously. THIS show is my favorite. It’s not a BoJack knockoff; its aesthetics are better, its animation is energetic and creative, the voice acting spot on, and the writing is a hot mess of scatterbrained sincerity that speaks to real life experience. It’s similar to BoJack in how it treats characters with disarming depth and realism, but it’s better than BoJack in that it has the bravery to be optimistic despite the heartbreak. This show is wholly underrated, stands well as a contained story, but is totally deserving of additional seasons. I’m a 22 yo straight christian guy and I fucking adore this show and I will fight you on that.
HHAHAHAHA 1:15 IS SO ACCURATE LMAOOOOO I AM SO PROUD OF MY GIRL LISA!!,!,!!!! IM SO EXCITED BC I LOVE THE RAPHAEL/ADAM/LISA FRIENDGROUP. "SHES SUCH A TUCA"="SHES SUCHA ZOË" I LOVE THIS SHIT I LOVE THIS
Oh man I can't wait for May 3. You Netflix people are killing me here the show looks awesome and we have to wait so very long...must...keep...hope...up...must...stay strong...gotta...watch...Bojack...until then.
If you're confused just look up Lisa Hanawalt. Lisa is part of the Bojack team but this is her own show not in the same universe. She is an incredible artist worthy of a follow on instagram and twitter! Also go listen to her podcast with Emily Heller: Baby Geniuses. She's super talented and it's exciting we get to enjoy even more of her work!
I love the fact that Lisa is having her own show!! I can't wait to watch it ! But i hope it doesn't mean the next bojack horseman season is gonna be the last i'm not ready to let this show go
My kind of show, along with BoJack Horseman and Aggretsuko, as I can't wait to binge watch Tuca and Bertie, as these actresses are just so sexy and funny!
