No, they don't. History is not a focus in education. He's some "old history dude" to them, that's all. What's worse, many of the trumpf supporters are my age and my grandfather fought in WWII. He refused to talk about it and would only say the war was a terrible thing and people should know better than to engage in it.
Unfortunately I think that when the generation who lived during WWII isn’t available to us as parents and grandparents to communicate what they did and what they felt, much of the seriousness is lost. And especially in these times with so much information and media, it becomes background noice. Easily ignored as something that can’t ever happen in a world so different in many ways, Also, there has been other wars and conflicts that has removed the attention from WWII. I suppose just like I, growing up in the 80s Europe, never concerned me much about the wars in Europe at the end of the 19th century. While grandparents had experienced the occupation of Europe and could tell about it. And the threat from the USSR was imminent.
