But recently I've spent too much time in politics. I'd say I was optimistic when I started but every year I got more experience in politics I got more cynical. The world is full of seagull operatives who just say Yes all the time. Given the current social environment I'm not sure I have very much to be optimistic about. I spent a day at The Nixon Library about five years ago and made all these connections. I'm a millennial so I'd never known the full story of Watergate. I remember being struck by Nixon's electoral map from 72.
