In Germany homeless people were picked up and placed in mental institutions. They would get counseling and drug rehab if needed. To get released they had to complete counseling, find a job, rent an apartment. Those that can't or won't do that remain incarcerated. No same person would want to be homeless.
Tucker Carlson! I do respect and admire your honesty and devotion to truth! I’m an old lady (73) living alone in the Nicolet National Forest in Northern Wisconsin. I’m surrounded by wildlife and have my pets - live on Social Security and get by. Thank you Sir, for your commitment to truth. God Bless you!
Acme Inc. we also have Northern which are as big as Muskie; bonier but not as mean. Muskie will ram a boat if it’s mad enough and can take hours to land. Also have (prehistoric) Sturgeon and they get BIG. While they’re in some smaller lakes, they’re mainly found in Lake Michigan. That’s my lake of choice for day-long boating. My “fishing career” was limited to fresh lake Perch, Trout, Big Mouth Bass, and my favorite pan fish, Bluegill! Those little buggers would come in sideways and you’d think you hooked a large Muskie. Fresh Lake Perch and Bluegill make good eating! Where I’m living, there are probably as many lakes, rivers (Pestigo as in 🔥- which was bigger than the Chicago Fire in terms of deaths & destruction. Happened on the same date, but there weren’t any newspapers to cover it). Back to lakes & rivers & streams - probably more than people living in the area. Nicolet Water is less than a mile from me & my well feeds off of that source. Wildlife/if you’re a hunter, I’m not, is abundant and beautiful; it’s a 4 Season Recreational area for Snowmobile & 4Wheelers, camping/hiking, horseback riding, skiing, boating and, of course fishing! The famous LAMBEAU FIELD, home of my Beloved GREEN BAY PACKERS, is less than 50 miles SE of me. There you have it: A partial rundown of my corner of beautiful Wisconsin. Wouldn’t move back to a city for anything. Retired here 20 yrs. ago from General Motors in Milwaukee (Oak Creek), Personnel/Training Dept. @MusicLover - Low wages and high housing costs are a natural byproduct from importing millions of people. It's the law of supply and demand. If you want higher wages and lower housing costs, then you need to reduce the supply of labor and reduce the demand for housing. The easiest way to do that is through the mass deportation of people who don't even have a legal right to be here.
@MusicLover - The same principle also applies to dating markets: When there's an abundance of men, women tend to expect more out of a man while putting in less effort. It doesn't matter what kind of "market" you apply the principle to. It still holds.
MusicLover it’s only one problem. Drugs. Immigrants flee their countries due to drug violence, drug violence is fueled by consumption in the US. This people aren’t just homeless, they are addicts. There need to be different solutions for different cases. Well thought out solutions. I know a Veteran with PTSD who lives in the woods, because he cannot be inside mentally. So, for veterans exactly like that, we could have communities in the woods. They would happily pay for it themselves and they would keep busy maintaining it. We would just need to provide the leadership and help them get things sorted out.
75% - 80% of military age HS grads cannot even meet MINIMUM entry standards for the US military ... They are too weak, too stupid or too mentally unstable, but all do qualify to go on to college (ironically). The biggest contributor to the increase is excessive government everywhere you turn now in the country. The solution is not an overnight thing, but it's not complex. LESS GOVERNMENT and more freedom for individuals to build basic housing without all the obstacles. Also, the issues of addictions and mental health are NOT caused by homelessness. There's thousands with such problems who aren't homeless but those issues do need addressing. Personal responsibility needs to be re-embraced (it goes hand in hand with freedom). This is a cultural thing. The problem of homelessness is a symptom, not a cause.

@@paulg6527 For some reason, cause I'm bored and my day off, I decided to check out what you said and compare the two states. The Republican Texas state has a .09% homeless problem which is less then 1%. California has less then 1% also BUT its homeless rate compared with their population, according to what you say and what is similar to what I found, is actually at a .35% homeless problem which, compared to population is actually almost two and a half times more then Texas! California Homeless/Population 130,000/37253956 = .35% Texas 25000/28,995,881 = .09% Almost 2.5x more tells me there is a problem that is being solved by Texas that California is not doing.

Wrong people to blame, to be honest. Pelosi is a Congresswoman. Harris is a Senator. The people you need to go after are local and perhaps California state officials. It is their policies which have created this. They have an ideology that drug use is harmless. All people are inherently good. Homeless are just victims of an oppressive economic system. The criminal justice system is racist and therefore shouldn't be used to incarcerate people. In essence, moral relativism where none of these obviously bad behaviors can be called bad. And if you can't call them bad, you certainly can't enforce punishment against those behaviors. You must permit them. It's ideologically driven at it's core.

I’m technically homeless, according to the government... once my parents die, I really will be homeless with my four children. It’s housing costs, the cost of living and the rate of pay not going up with the cost of living for multiple years or even decades in a row. I work 99% of my time, raise my kids by myself, pay for daycare, summer camp, etc... Unless I want to marry someone I shouldn’t be with, I have no hope of affording a permanent home. There are so many like me. The rest of what I see is addicts... and vets who are just left with no reasonable career or options, after serving their country for decades on end. That’s just what I see in my state.
You've got to take advantage of every community or state operated financial assistance for housing at your local family support division office. Don't wait until your parents die to have an exit strategy. Get your finances in order by any means necessary. Consider moving a few states over to get better housing prices. And stop assuming homelessness is a foregone conclusion, because if you really believe that, you won't be motivated to change your circumstances.
Cecily oh of course.. I’m constantly working to do anything and everything. That’s why I said I work 99% of my life despite raising four kids. It’s the truth. I’m always applying, going to court, appointments, meetings, the list goes on, aside from working 40+ hours and doing whatever it takes to get promoted. The only thing I won’t do is sacrifice too much time away from enjoying my children and their growth. It’s a tough scenario but another tough part is that I’m the only offspring of theirs left in their vicinity, and willing to stay and take care of them. I don’t want to elaborate on them or their health because it’s all unpredictable no matter what. I do as much for them as they do for me. The reality is, I don’t know how to leave but I really cannot go far regardless. That’s why I remain so close. I’ve lived in other states where it was cheaper and I couldn’t believe how many more options I’d have. But anyway, you get the point. I can’t leave my loved ones. I am doing everything I can to protect my children and myself from homelessness, trust me. And at the same time, realizing it’s not just about us. I’ve had many conversations about my parents about the property and their plans with it. I’ll respect their plans what the heck it but for now, at least they know my concerns about them, my kids, myself, and the future. I am pretty confident that if I’m doing right by them, my children, myself, and by God, and doing the work needed to ensure a home in the future, things will all work out. I so greatly appreciate your comments. They’re truly caring, considerate, and wise. 💜
Also, I hate to sound dumb, but homelessness as a foregone conclusion COMPLETELY lost me. I haven’t got the slightest idea what a forgone conclusion is! lol.. on an additional note, I don’t consider myself homeless. I know single moms who really are. They have no family or friends. I’m so lucky to have them and have been raised to fight and work as hard and long as my body, mind, and God will let me. It’s just my state who considers me homeless, if that helps my end of the explanation. I just don’t know if I see a lot of homeless addicts complaining about being homeless. I hear a lot of vets and single moms complaining about their struggles more than I’ve heard any mentally ill. I think I’m just trying to understand the problem in my state, and help others understand what people are suffering from the problem, and offer some reasons why. That was my main goal in my comment. It seemed to be the question asked.. I think? Or at least the topic addressed and I wanted to share what I see. I appreciate your wisdom and encouragement. I wish more of the comments I see would be so loving and encouraging and positive as yours. It’s all possible for all of us if we work hard. I truly believe that, no matter how many hurdles there are.
Homelessness can happen to anyone, i lost everything in a house fire except the clothes i was wearing once; lived in my car for a year and a half at one point. There is a lot of good honest people trying to help homeless people and see no results for their efforts, when you hear of the constant thieving, drug and alcohol abuse. But what many may not understand is some like it, its a lifestyle for some. They like drugs and alcohol, they like not working, they like thieving other peoples stuff. Leaving garbage or crapping on the sidewalk. The kind-hearted people become the fools, mocked and laughed at behind your backs. Don't believe well actions speak louder than words.
Wish more people understood/were talking about the psychology behind it. Just giving them free stuff (roof over their heads, food, ect.) won't change the way they think. Like you were saying, for many, it's a lifestyle they've chosen. Maybe life circumstances put them there, but they CHOSE to remain. Take your story for example; you had some setbacks, but you never said, "Oh well, guess I'm living on the streets from now on" And when you lost your house you didn't say, "Well, guess I'll go be a heroin addict now" You got back up, dusted yourself off and moved on. Sorry to hear about your house btw
