Hey guys, If you thought the repair of the trencher idler wheel was a tough one, this one definitely tops that by a big margin. Follow along as we chop this thing up, chew it up and spit out a new..ish machine. well, at least the front chute arms. Thanks for the support. This one is rather long so I hope you don't fall asleep. Ha. Other than that, kick back and enjoy your TV dinner or get yourself a cup of coffee to keep awake. Thanks again in advance.

By the Way, I have been wanting to mention this, your Son looks so professional with his Industrial quality clean clothes, shirt tucked in, al the right safety gear, no slogans or printing on his clothes..........I am sure you are really proud of him, he really is a great asset to your company.....tell him he has some fans out here.......I know, I am one of them......Paul

This channel and CCE Australia are my two favorites right now. Kurtis of CCE has the advantage of a clean shop with all the parts being brought to him for repair. Issac struggles through the issues of having to partially disassemble the machine to get to the repair, repair the damaged part and then reassemble. Kudos to you Isaac for a job well done....

And I C Weld is the only channel Kurtis watches, lol. Kurtis does go to job sites, he doesn't film them though becuase it would probably not be safe for his wife. But yeah, most of Kurtis' jobs are in the nice clean machine shop, lol. Kurtis says that they only film like one in 5 jobs they do in the shop, becuase the filming process makes the job take longer, so they really only film jobs where the customer doesn't need their stuff back urgently. Otherwise he would probably have some pissed off people lol. I C Weld does alot of the filming with the camera on a tripod, and does it in one take(I'm assuming anyways, lol)

I fully appreciate renovation/ remodel type of guys as well, You never know what you are going to discover when you cut out old wall paneling and structural elements. You have to be well rounded in your trade and be a good problem solver.

I'm lucky enough that my job is so easy for me it's more fun than work. I'm a loader operator at a quarry. Now operating a loader in a quarry is not easy in the least, I'm just good enough that it's easy for me and 25 years of experience is what makes it easy.

Good to see junior on this project, no amount of schooling would prepare him for this. This is real world, hands on education being taught by a master craftsman and the upside its being done by someone who truly cares he's taught correctly. Without sounding hoky, with love and pride. For my first twenty work career I worked with dad and went from being help, partner to him working for me in the auto body frame and paint business. We worked for others and owned our own business until he retired, miss that Ole man everyday.

Well Sirs: I am impressed as always. Analyzing what to remove and how to make it all fit again is amazing. The complications connected to clearing the concrete and avoiding setting the whole thing on fire goes beyond any repair welder I've ever seen. Congrats to you both for a job well done. I absolutely love that you and your son work together. I wish I had that kind of relationship with my father. Although on the other hand not so much. I didn't and don't think it's right to lie to the public and then live off the tax payers dime. My father is a politician. So I became a professional mechanic instead. I'm now 49 years old and feel like I've not really worked a single day. Although my body tells me otherwise, that's for sure. My father? Well he's still lying and living off the tax payers. Very well I might add. He just won another election where he lives. I live in a completely different state from him. Which is for the best. I live in my home state of Texas and believe me, Texas is a better place without him!!! My apologies for the rant. As usual, Outstanding work guys!! It's always a pleasure to see y'all working together!!

I can tell you from my experience it's not easy working with your father, I did for over twenty years. Left him once because he didn't let me do more. In those three months he realized I was an asset. He asked me back as a partner, not help. We worked together another 15yrs with some growing pains but became good friends and a great team. It was tough on mom because she caught it from both sides. After 22yrs him being gone I miss arguing with him about everything. I hope you can patch thing up with your dad for peace of mind on your side, knowing you've done your best.

@@charlescastillo8870 Unfortunately, I just don't see that happening. There's A LOT of very bad blood between us going all the way back to by childhood. Not to mention his wife is EXTREMELY possessive. If she so much as smells anything resembling a "patch". She will stop at nothing to destroy it. I know how it sounds. There's no way it could be that bad. I promise Sir, it is. Back when I meet my wife and the situation came about for her to meet them. I warned her of the situation. She said and thought the same thing. "There's no way the situation is really that bad. Especially after the first meeting. But once our relationship became more involved and my family took off the "Happy family routine" , which I could never play. God I got into so much trouble as a teen for not playing along. My wife just couldn't believe that a "family" could function like that' She even went so far as to ask me if I was adopted!!! Because as she put it "How in the world did you come from that?" 20+ years down the road and she's convinced that I'm adopted! So at this point I have no relationship with my mother, father, brother, and two sisters. Which is sad on one hand. But on the other. It has to be this way just so I can keep what's left of my sanity. Besides, They only liked me or wanted me around when they needed something from me. Charles, I'm sorry for loss. But I'm really happy that you were able to have that relationship with your father. Although the two of you butted heads I'm sure. But at the end of the day I'd like to think y'all were better men because of it. I'm sure he's very proud of you, even now. Thank You Sir for sharing that. You be safe out there!! Quickest way to deal with those sorts of people is to go hand them your tool belt and ask them to show you how to do the job better and faster. Then step back so you don't get knocked over in their haste to get clear of the job.

Retired after 43 years on a field truck or in the shop. We had a saying that if the machine don’t go the job don’t go. However you can only patch it so many times. I was fortunate enough to have a boss that would value our input on when to bring a machine out of service. He fully understood our intention of keeping the equipment on the job. From the movie “shreck” onions have layers. After a while you haft to remove the layers to get to the core. Love it

I suspect that the client knows just how much a new machine would cost and how much a rebuilt machine would cost and have decided to do the job "In-house" and call in Isaac. Salvaging their existing machine without having to worry about completely cleaning and painting the unit will save a lot of money. The goal is to get the machine back up and working properly.

The last time I touched a torch or a welder was back in high school shop class years ago, but I am hooked on your videos. The appeal is watching your confident approach to repairing broken machines in the hardest of environments and your experienced hand stitching metal together. I absolutely take my hat off to you guy's!!!! That was a mammoth task right there. I had to fabricate and replace a boat trailer rear section that had to be done in 3 hrs due to weather and tidal changes on my own and it near killed me!!!

Wow, that was quite a production! I'm amazed that your hourly rate was low enough to make that worthwhile for the owner, but then again, machinery of all kinds is in short supply... old and repaired, at high cost, sure beats brand new with an ETA of six or more months.

This must be the biggest scrap iron jungle I have ever seen and i saw a few. Of all the people to handle it they certainly chose the right man. You are a credit to your trade. In a lifetime in heavy industry and an engineer at sea I have not seen such a dainty competent tradesman. I'm sure your son is very proud of you and will make you very proud of him one day. It would have to be done on a Day Rate as there is no way to quote something like this machine without having to pad out the quote and you could still be in a jamb.

Time and materials is how it would be quoted. It'll take as much time as it needs and as much material as it needs and in the end, it will be right.

That is a big, messy and tricky job to do. It doesn't help that it appears to be a bad design or lacks enough bracing to me. Four days, that is good going considering the amount of work to cut out an integrated are that is central to the structure of the machine and the cabis mounted to the side of it. Well done to you both, top work!

Crazy thing, i live in the city where these are built, even worked at the owners house and years ago worked on the irrigation and the factory, always saw them sitting out front of the factory and wondered what they were for, now i know.

Yes sir, we are going to take your machine apart at the seams. Cut out all the funk and junk. Then recalculate as close to spec as possible. And put it back together again! All in my backyard. And it will more than likely be better than brand new! Guts and tenacity!
